This game is an insult to common intelligence.

I recall the same complaint with Oblivion - that it was a dumbed down console-friendly Morrowind-lite. However I still play both games on PC and enjoy them. I don't expect much of the main quest after Oblivion but the guilds and side quests provided a rich world of things to do.

Seriously when did players come to associate stats and attributes with 'role-playing'. Role playing isn't checking your armor skill or level every five minutes, it's about fitting into the game world and playing a role. I don't lament the loss of more tables and stats, I embrace it and look forward to the future Bethesda title that has no HUD, no 'character sheet' and just lets you develop the character and does all the math behind the scenes.

Well Said, Well Said.

But then it would not be a good RPG, it would be something even better!

Okay so I'm dealing with people that can't fight properly. That's not my problem. I may use inflammatory language but I explain myself fully. That is what sets me apart from those types of idiots.

While I agree a lot of people lack arguing prowess, arguing opinions is pointless. Using inflammatory language and arguing your opinion in well thought out arguements makes it easier to understand but not any less pointless and now adds personalish attacks.

Considering the number of these types of threads you should have expected such responses as " cool story Bro"

You are wrong. We are right.

/Thread.

You miss the point of my post. I stated that the POINTS I MADE were correct (the removal of features, the simplification.) Where you go from that is opinion. I say it's bad, you might say it's good. Read.

Removal of features and simplification are still opinion, whether or not you like those things. Some people DO like those things you mentioned.

My insults are not thoughtless. They are all backed up by opinion and reasoning. Of course I'm an objectivist hero. Why on earth would I ever cling to an opinion that I thought could be wrong? Silly. Everything that I stated is true. All of those features have been removed. Removing those features means the game is a lot more simple. It means the game is a lot more accessible to most people. When you target "most people" you need to pander to the lowest common denominator. It's all "good" business. Now whether you think that makes the game worse, better, whatever, that's your opinion. Obviously I think it makes it worse. But don't come at me with that pseudo-philosophic "everything is objective" bull crap. I'm not floating around in some airy fairy hippie reserve giving everybody a chance to express themselves and claim just as much validity.

Last point? Jack Thompson is wrong. Read my earlier sentence. I am right.

No, it does not mean the game is more simple. It means those things have been removed, nothing more. Ignoring what has been added and simply pointing at the few things removed and calling it a simplification is silly. Furthermore, removal of things like athletics and acrobatics have absolutely nothing to do with simplifying the game. It has to do with removing stupid things that added nothing to the gameplay. Things that were so badly designed that players meta gamed their way past them, by afk not-playing the game, to max out those skills.

For all your high brow talk you are seriously failing by attempting to pigeonhole all the things they changed as being part of some grand simplification of the game. You are right it`s not all subjective (your use of objective is in error). Because the factual circumstances surrounding some of the changes listed clearly point to something other than a simplification of the game. That is objectively true. Rather than being subjectively declared as a simplification by you.

Right and wrong are subjective, especially where the features of a video game are concerned. That is what we are trying to point out, and you are not paying attention. Read.

Are you out of your god-forsaken mind, man? Skyrim has no spears. Skyrim has no spell making. Skyrim has dragons.

Are any of those opinions? No. They're all true. Read.

I understand where the OP comes from. He has a point; and everyone replying with "Cool story, bro." is an imbecile... That kind of meme adds nothing but waste our time, unless you are 16 years old or younger then fine.

However, I think Skyrim is the best game of 2011 (it beats Portal 2... so far) DESPITE THE CRASHES.

I am having fun playing Skyrim more than I did with Morrowind. Yes, I would have loved it has more stats and more skills but nothing is perfect I guess.

And yet those arguing with him continue to use the term 'bro'. Lending weight to his argument.
The use of that term/phrase is, contrary to what you might think, intentionally thought-out and deliberately implemented. I cannot speak for everyone who uses it, but for the most part, memes, like all linguistic constructs, allow a great deal of information to be communicated with minimal effort. Also, we'd never get anywhere if it weren't for the ability to accept others' explanations and words as our own opinion (Contrary to what Anti-plagarist English teachers may say). Heck, language itself is simply choice copying of what others say to communicate ideas.

On that note:
Some people are not even worth the latest meme or catchphrase, consider yourself lucky.

And many of the points Jack Thompson made were right as well. That didn't stop them from being ultimately irrelevant to his final argument. Yours is that Skyrim lacks any shred of artistic integrity, which gets http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLlRaJkMNlE.

And your conclusion that you need consider nothing else in order to declare the game as simplified, is false.
