It's Oblivion 2. That's all it is.

Sure, the modders need to correct a few things, but i'm getting more of a Morrowind vibe than flashbacks of Oblivifail. I feel like i'm playing a TES game again.

This game is NOTHING like Oblivion.

....or any other game for that matter. Its exceeded my expectations of what I thought was possible on the XBox, both graphically (assuming you're not afflicted with the texture bug) and gameplayablyility (definitely a proper word, shut up!). It doesn't feel like a game, it feels like an experience!

It's more Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas than Oblivion. Which is a good thing.

How is this thread not locked?

The amount of awesome sauce in Skyrim is way too obvious for this to not be a troll.

Disagreed. It should feel similar it's the same series, would you really want a totally different game? Turn based or something? Anime graphics? Hit combos and numbers flying around the screen?
Is it too much to ask for a better combat system?

This game is NOTHING like Oblivion.
Actually, it shares a lot of similarities to Oblivion. Trying for the over-dramatic approach I guess?

I'm sorry sir, but you have no idea what you're talking about.
Skyrim is a HUGE step up from Oblivion
He has no idea what he is talking about because he shared his opinion? Just because he feels a certain way about the game that differs from you, doesn't mean he's wrong.

Well, here's a fact, MW3 is MW2, BF3 is BFBC2 2, ACB is AC2, Fallout 3 is Fallout New Vegas. Because they're "sequels"
Oh and animations are top notch, dunno what you're talking about
And out of those games, skyrim is the most improved.
The animations are far removed from "top notch." They are very inconsistent in many ways, but that's another thread entirely.

Obviously this is all opinion. So the only way to get this discussion as CLOSE to the facts as possible is to see how it fares with sales, reviews, and GOTY. Then we'll know what the majority thinks.

It;'s a biit early for me to judge but I feel like I am playing a game that is four years old?!

It's just Oblivion 2. Combat is no better and the animations are pathetic for 2011.

I will srill enjoy the game no doubt but I had hoped for a step up from Oblivion.

You should not be a gamer, you should take up a hobby more your speed, like baseball...BTW, your opinion doesn't effect me in the least because it's just like saying Morrowind is just DaggerFall 2! Furthermore you should do yourself a favor, and sell all your bethesda games and never play another one, instead you should play Two Worlds 2.

I played about 12 hours now and I think Skyrim is one of the best RPGs I' ve ever played. The story is not so intence and epic like the Witcher 2, but far the best open source RPG i know. On PC the graphics and animations are great, I only would like to have more splatter effects!

It's Oblivion II just as much as Medal of Honor (the most recent one) is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Part Deux.

Only this time, it's a major improvement over its previous game.

Agreed. To be honest I felt Bethesda borrowed far more from Forza Motorsport while making Skyrim. Sometimes I actually get mixed up as to whether I'm playing Skyrim or Forza.

It can't be that hard to tell the two apart. One has cars the other does not.

My point is that the engine feels so OLD!!
I dont think that the engine feels old. i felt that fallout' engine felt old.

In Skyrim though, moving around feels almost like arkham city or assasins creed.

Understandably easy mistake to make, why only yesterday a dragon swooped down and stole my first place position mere seconds before I crossed the finish line on Forza.

I haven't even played this game yet and I can see that it isn't just a step up from Oblivion, its a leap from the trampoline while wearing rocket boots, it's surpassed my expectations at any rate and I hate every one for being able to play it while I can't.

Seriously.

I have seen many complaints on these forums.... most of them idiotic. Skyrim is just 1000x better than Oblivion ever was. Better everything.

Anyone who doesn't like Skyrim should throw their PC/Console out the window right now.

Agreed gen couldnt have said it any better

It's just Oblivion 2.

I think that usually people when buying [some game] 5 know what to expect more or less and pretty much that is the reason for getting it.

(What's "Baseball"? Rounders? Is it for girls?)

In no way was my stated opinion meant to 'effect ' anyone!!

It is just an observation. I am very much enjoying the game but as I siad previously I am surprised that after all the development time since Oblivion things haven't moved on more.

But I agree that it is a great game.
