Dragonborn DLC Exclusivity PS3 and PC Release Dates - Thread

Post » Tue Nov 06, 2012 6:40 am

i'm on PC and i'll be patiently waiting for their next update.

and because i have a different opinion i should keep my nose out...? i thought this was a discussion forum?
Fair enough, your opinion and yes you're entitled to it and to expressing it.

You people have no idea what you have and you got the balls to tell me no one cares how my friends were killed. Killed so you could [censored] about nothing....
Thank you for your service and sacrifice, but it doesn't entitle you to being an ass. I post on video game forums precisely because nothing here really matters.

I just want to know how much of an impact exclusivity makes on Bethesda, and their team. Is it really worth holding back 2/3 of your fanbase? Or could you make equally as much selling to all three platforms right off the bat? In my opinion exclusivity should be for entire games not extra content. If you are going to do third party applications, is it really fair to limit content for that large of an audience? Not trying to bash them or anything, I just don't think it's fair to those of us who already invested a lot in either our PC builds, or our PS3 setups. Also I'm pretty sure I remember them saying that it would be on all consoles after exclusivity was up. If anything I'm done with Skyrim until game of the year edition. Fallout 3 was the only title I could wait months upon months for the DLC.

The party they sign the exclusivity deal with will pay handsomely for that exclusivity so in the short term you're making a lot of money. Long term you're alienating (in our case) 2/3 of your customer base. If you look at the polls, the first poll showed that PC users are the predominate customer for Skyrim by some margin. The second poll had it more or less the same (fractions of a percentage difference). On a best case scenerio, combing both PC and PS3 users, Bethesda are upsetting 55.73% of their customers (2nd poll), worst case 70.5% (1st poll).

Since there was nothing at the end of the trailer they might be working something with Valve and Sony. It might of said the same thing as the other trailer with the "Comes out on Xbox live on so and so, and cost so and so Microsoft Points," but still. Valve is kinda slow anyways so they might be waiting on them. (Today's CK update was supposed to be out last Friday.) And I am sure MS if used to answering Bethesda. Comes a few weeks and we know nothing then I would be wrong. It might be why Bethesda isn't saying anything because they are still discussing it with Valve and Sony.

To be fair, it's probably Zenimax cutting the deals. The ps3 thing's on Bethesda, but the exclusive deals probably is handled by the parent company. Beth Softworks just makes the game.

I thought those numbers did include digital copies - my mistake. I've edited my original post to take them out. I used several pages I found with a Google and sort of averaged the reported numbers out.

That makes me feel a lot better. I thought we were the red-headed stepchild of the market - nice to know we have a bit more clout than what I previously thought.

I still don't like the direction Bethesda seems to be taking lately, though.

Excluding PC digital downloads, my understanding is that the retail sales have exceeded 13 million physical copies sold:

6.38m Xbox 360
4.19m PS3
2.49m PC (packaged retail discs)

I asked about the sales, and I was told that the 13 Million will be the last update. I don't think we will know anymore.

So that means that 4.19 million skyrim fans are getting treated like garbage? I thought it was only like 2 million

I said that very thing in the very post you quoted.

I think the best thing anyone can do right now is wait a bit and see what Bethesda has to say on this.

I don't care about Skyrim or DLC But the PR is [censored] up and it needs to change.I should say the lack of PR. The deals that Bethesda softworks makes with M$ kills games it dos not make them.

If I were a PS3 owner, I'd be steamed, and rightfully so. Not only have DLC's not been forthcoming, but patches have also been woefully slow in coming. I seem to recall statements about better support than Oblivion got prior to release. Clearly, we have a case of - fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me - going here. I wouldn't look at another Beth product again.
