Ps3 Lag

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 3:52 am

Here's an idea for you guys, don't play for hours on end. PS3 is designed for performance to do down after continous hours of playing, otherwise it would burn out. There's a reason gamers are advised to play for an hour at a time with 15 minutes break in between. Consoles are not created to handle 8+ hours of constant gaming. If people actually bothered to read this in the manual, you would not be having any problems at all.

Also, for those on the older PS3's, make sure you have at least 10GB free space.

People buy these games because they WANT to play for hours on end. With a game that has 300+ hours, who wouldn't want to play for more than 2 hours? When I have free time to myself, and I decide whether or not I'm going to play Skyrim, I first see if I have 2 hours free, and if not, I don't play; because what the hell can you acomplish in these games if you play only for 1 hour at a time? Hmm, let me fast travel to Riften, join the theives guild, save, then I'm done... pfft.

Same here. I have no doubt we are in the vast majority.

20 hours into the game and the lag is getting worse. slowdowns and stutter is annoying as hell. Why not simply make corpses disappear after a while? The clutter must not help that poor ps3 to keep up.

The game will "lag" when it autosaves. This happens every 15 journal screens, or by zoning (by default). You can disable this if you want.

My save game so far is a little over 6mb and I'm level 21.

Guys, or girls even, Pete Hines has stated on twitter that Bethesda are aware of the problems and a patch is in the works, http://twitter.com/#!/dcdeacon

My lag is a joke now, I can't do anything if I'm not inside some cave or house, really needs patched as I can't be bothered creating new characters for a stupid reason.

A patch may be in the works, but will it fix this issue.....or is it even fixable...

I think they will be able to do something. My PS3 copy of Oblivion ran like a dream until I finally ran out of appetite to play it, surely the difference in game world, size and saves can't be that much to Skyrim.

Just one other point, and I don't know if it's affecting anything, but I have noticed dead things, like Wolves etc, seem to stay around for a long time, several days.

Whilst this is a great realistic affect (I utterly hate games where things disappear in front of your eyes after you kill them!), will it be taking up a lot of memory?

In Oblivion, how long did dead animals etc stay around for? Is it comparable to Skyrim?

Curious question... does anyone here have a smooth experience with the fall forest area? Mine's at a constantly choppy fps.

Mine also ran very smooth in the beginning. The problems start when the savefile reaches 7 or 8 mb. As the savefile grows larger, the game becomes choppier. Mine is almost 10 mb now, and the game is basically unplayable. I'm borrowing a 360 tomorrow and trading my ps3 version for a 360 version. I'd advice every ps3 owner to do the same. Or wait for a month or so until (not even certainly) a patch is released... I definetly won't wait. At least I can see these 65 hours of gameplay as a training period. Now I know how to best progress the second time around.

I hate to say it but I'm also looking at getting an Xbox... It's either that or a new computer, and since I can get an Xbox a lot cheaper Xbox it is.

I'm going to try to hold out though. It isn't Sony's fault.

Me too. Skyrim is just too good to be left alone... Thank you so much bethesda for making me waste even more money on your stupid game.

Same here. I used to have an Xbox. It lasted five years. After that I cut it in half with a disc cutter. I don't want another one just for one game and I don't want to give Bethesda any more money but.....

If bethesda doesn't fix this issue. I advice everyone to never purchase another bethesda game on PS3 or on any platform in general!!!! These guys are d!cks if they don't resolve or at least say that they're aware of this current issue. :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame:

Strangely, it hasn't died... keep it going, keep it going!

Not like it really matters all too much, given that the majority of posts in the section of the forums seem focused on this one issue, anyway...

That helps, so does the coverage from some major outlets and large social networks. Bethesda can't duck this issue anymore, it has gotten too much attention now.
