PS3 Release for Dawnguard, DLC etc... #37

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 10:34 am

How would you feel if after months of waiting, you woke up to know Bethesda finally released DLC capable to run on the PS3, only to find out it was Hearthfire?

Betrayed, like usual. With Beth, it's expected. I'm still following this with some small straw of hope for DG, but thanks to the great community of folks here on this thread (all 37 and counting), I've been turned on to other great NON-Bethesda games. Once again, my thanks to Yeknom for the Kingdoms of Amalur recommendation!

They pull that move and they'd probably have every news media calling them asking them. "Would you like to comment on the Playstation 3 fiasco?" Among other questions.

We care about our fan base on all platforms.

We’re continuing to work on updates for PS3. It’s something that’s just going to take more time.

So back to business as usual, empty promises of something, but it will just take a little more time. I have just started to get into XCOM for real, and Skyrim is slipping down the list of games I'm going to play very fast. In fact I haven't played Skyrim for the better part of two months.

I haven't sincerely played Skyrim on my ps3 since maybe the summer? PC only in the past month for testing mods I'm working on.

The same goes for me.I've shifted away from Skyrim a couple of months back and I'm happy to say that I've never been bored one second thanks to gems like Xcom and Borderlands(great multiplatform support). With DMC(january),Bioshock Infinite(february) and GTA 5(march-june) coming next year I'm fully aware that I'm not going to spend a cent on Skyrim DLC but I'm still sticking around here to hold the fort with those that really want them....and to laugh at the grand finally of this show :biggrin:

sorta funny dawnguard nominated best DLC of the year... sorry a part of my brain is doubled over laughing anyways I'm getting all my friends to support a DLC that isn't Bethesda made so they don't win... winning only encourages their arrogance and ignorance against the ps3 community.

Been a busy day, so just catching up. Have to say i'm equal parts amused and enlightened.

The English version of the 1.8 title update for Skyrim is available. When we have more information on it’s release for other territories (and the PlayStation 3), we will provide an update.

Release notes below:

Skyrim Update 1.8 (all platforms unless specified)

BUG FIXES

General memory and stability improvements
Fixed rare crash when using vampiric grip
Fixed issue where Arnleif and Sons Trading Company could become permanently locked
Fixed issue related to duplicate NPCs
Fixed rare issue where exterior door would not open properly

Other territories(and the Playstation 3) :lol:

That is a very telling look at how Bethesda views the PS3. Though i wonder, if the PS3 platform is going to get the foreign market treatment; does that mean more cash to hire a special 'localization' team?

That's just a rehash of Tweet Hines "We're working on it" ... really.. you expect us to STILL believe that load of bull? OK then PROVE IT - I bet there's some programmers on here that could do a better job at fixing it than Beth can.

EDIT: On a side note am I the only one who can't access the smiley menu list?

By "Take more time", they mean in about two years or so, right? Rerelease it on the PS4 perhaps? Even then I doubt it.

It's a shame, what I've seen of Dragonborn, it looks good! More Dragon Priest masks would be fantastic, revisiting Morrowind, but as I said before, for me it's at least Dawnguard and Dragonborn, or I'm done. Hearthfire would be nice, but really, I mostly want those two.

But let's be honest here, what're the chances of getting even one at this stage? Let alone all three.

I'm honestly still waiting for this to hit national/international news like you see it on tv. And it comes up for me... so maybe?

You guys will get the update too. I don't have a date for its release, but it's being worked on.

I'll let you guys know about its release and the coming content as soon as I can.

So just us for 1.8 now? What happens if the PS3 version adds Crossbows and Vampire Lords as an apology for no Dawnguard? What do you think'll happen then?

You say as soon as you can as if your holding info from us, this is what annoys most. This lack of info works with Dragonborn and Dawnguard because it lets 360 users run wild with speculation and build the hype for you, but after nearly 6 months of waiting PS3 users are just tired of it and a lot just give up on the game. (just so you know almost all my friends that have it on PS3 either bought the PC version or traded theirs in around the time HEARTHFIRE was announced)

I understand if there truly isn't any information but what I'm trying to say is the wording is what annoys most, it gives them false hope for a week or two before getting angry again.

One of Hines' earlier statements said we'd get the entire DLC, or nothing at all, not a few pieces of it. If they go back on this statement and bundle up a few parts of it, I think it'd basically be a surefire sign of saying they've given up. It might be a decent gesture, I admit, but this late in the show with no sign of anything remotely resembling equal treatment, it's far too late to do any good.

It won't happen, Beth already said they will never break up the dlc. It's all or nothing. I only want a few things from DG in terms of materials.. the quest? Meh I want the perks and dragonbone weapons which SHOULD have been in the game anyway.

Come on of course the 1.8 patch for PS3 is going to be delayed, it's going to take them forever to find this piece of code:
MainList.entryList.push({text: "$DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT" + (iPlatform == 3 ? "_PS3" : ""), index: StartMenu.DLC_INDEX, disabled: false});

...and chanage it to this:
MainList.entryList.push({text: "$DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT" + (iPlatform == 3 ? "_PS3" : ""), index: StartMenu.DLC_INDEX, disabled: true});
