PS3 Release for Dawnguard #3

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 3:56 pm

The wait is getting bad for me.. I looked at all the content, my friends pretty much told me that Dawnguard isn't that great, and I'm getting bored with the things that are being added myself.
Maybe it was a bad idea to watch gameplay on Youtube...
I'm actually debating on not buying Dawnguard when it's released on the PS3, and just wait until the DLC is on sale on the playstation network or something...

I can't tell you how disappointed I am in Bethesda. Not communicating at all is worse then telling me that the DLC won't be out for 3 months. If you tell me the latter, I can at least set aside some cash and move on with life. But without a date, there is no end in sight. Many PS3 owners are threatening to not buy dawnguard, and worse not buying another bethesda game period.
Not communicating? Theve said all they can, what more do you want? A definite release date? Thats putting your own fist in your mouth, because that will just mean some bugs WONT get fixed.

Do I want Bethesda to get the DLC right and get it to work on my PS3? Absolutely.
Good, then be quiet and be patient.

However...
No. You are about to take back your previous statement, so just no.

2.) Entertain a price drop for PS3 owners. Nothing crazy. Instead of $19.99 sell it to us for $17.99. Xbox got it first. PC got it and can mod with it. It seems only fair to give your loyal PS3 fans something... anything to show us that you still care about us.
Will you people STOP using mods as an excuse? Modding is a privilage of the platform, not something "we get and you don't". If it were possible, they would allow modding on all platforms, but there is no way this will ever happen. Mods are not something Bethesda is dangling in front of you taunting you with like they did with Dawnguard exclusivity, so stop treating it as such.

And a price drop? Hell no. That is just acting like a needy child. Where are you getting this entitlement from? What do YOU have invested in Dawnguard that gives you ANY position to claim entitlement?

we want more communication then they give us we didn't know anything about patch 1.6 we thought they had dropped support for the console

as for the price drop I agree with it you know where we get the entitlement from? we get it from our games not being playable until MONTHS after the release date we get it from not getting the level of support everyone else has gotten. from being lied to by Bethesda that our game was having the same attention the xbox had. from buying 2 of bethesda's other games which are broken on our console.

What is it you want? An hourly update as to the status of the DLC? Be realistic.

Doing a bit of kindergarten level investigation would tell you what 1.6 and 1.7 include. (Hint: Try the other support forums)

Im still not seeing any relation to Dawnguard. You have NOTHING invested in Dawnduard, so you have no claim to entitlement AT ALL.

I can't speak for everyone here, but these are the things I would like to know:

1. Why wasn't patch 1.6 released on the PS3 when it was out for the other platforms?
2. More importantly, why weren't we told anything about the patch not coming for the PS3 for 2 months?
3. The plan was for 1.7 to be submitted for certification last week. Did that actually happen? Usually, they post an announcement when they do it, but I haven't seen anything about it confirming that it's happened yet.
4. What exactly were the standards that Dawnguard on the PS3 failed to live up to? Because right now, I'm hearing about a lot of different problems from a lot of different people playing it on the PC and 360.
5. Is there a rough timetable for when PS3 players can expect the DLC?
6. Should we expect these kinds of things (withholding patches, not communicating about why, DLC not being released after the exclusivity deal ends, considerably later releases for the PS3) for the rest of Skyrim's life cycle?

Questions 5 and 6 I don't really expect answers to at all, but I'd like to know (I'm willing to wager the answer to 5 is "No," and the answer to 6 is "Yes"), but 1-4 I'd really like answers to. Question 3 is the only one that actually holds any real importance at this time, but the others I just want to know out of curiosity.

They just need to call 4J studios. they ported Oblivion to PS3. Obviously though they don't want to spend money on porting it out nor do they want the reputation loss of being an incompetent company of coders.

Honestly I had forgotten about this, thanks for reminding me. I wondered why I had no issues running Oblivion on my PS3. They really should have these guys port the game, if they can't step up and handle it.

@REL
Q3. We have to assume it was submitted: P.Hinesy said as much: sticky up top before and not now is essentially meaningless.

I never enjoy the silent treatment, but the last post from Gstaff said everything I needed to know, really - and I'm choosing to be positive about it.

4J Studios is a video game developer based in Dundee, Scotland... Ok so they literally have nothing else to do but port this game. Get on it Beth.

From the looks of their latest works, thats all the do. They did a great job with Oblivion, in my opinion, so why not.

There is a difference between being positive and being satisfied. I have had a positive experience thus far with Bethesda games, but I have not been satisfied with their treatment of me and my console companions since Skyrim's release. Like good capitalist consumers we are simply expressing our dissatisfaction with the way this company has handled the entire situation. In capitalism, the only way anything changes, is when either the consumer speaks with their wallet or a competitor offers a similar product or better, with better treatment of the customer.

If anything Bethesda's loyal fans crying foul is actually showing more loyalty to the Bethesda brand name.

Staying positive - I'm doing that I would say. I haven't done anything too crazy. I still plan to get Dawnguard when it eventually comes out. I still love what Bethesda has made.

Satisfied - No. I am not a satisfied customer. I feel they should know that. Since I can't hob nob with them and talk to them directly... well I guess I'll rant on a forum, comment on a blog post, or send an email.

Off topic - Has anyone noticed that every time you go to post a comment, at the bottom right you have to stare at the credits which include xbox 360, xbox live, bethesda, and bethesda again. PS3 and Sony are missing from that... interesting.

Honestly.... This is getting ridiculous..... I'm trying to remain optimistic and understanding but my optimism gets stabbed in the chest for every day I have wait.... I don't get it. Why even call it a "30 day exclusive" if we weren't even gonna be able to get it until 2 months later???

If this comes out around the same time that I have to go off to college I might just go super saiyan.......??????

Well i have been waiting along time and being patient for the Dawn Guard release and the mysterious 1.7 we are suppose to get , what a joke that is .So i have decided to forget Dawn Guard release and keep my mind occupied on another RPG so i just bought KINGDOMS OF AMALUR , not so many bugs and EA know how to deliver games to the PS3 ulike those idiots at Bugthesda .

I am not buying Dawn Guard , Bugthesda had their chance and i am going to buy titles from now on from Devs who know what they are doing on the PS3

Moderators have already explained this - it's because this is a Dawnguard forum and the expansion is not yet out for Sony/PS3. Those logos will be added when the expansion is released.

A logo for Games for Windows Live hasn't been added there yet, but it's on the General Discussion page (and the other ones too, I imagine).

I mean honestly, how hard is it to get this DLC released? I am sure they have a team of workers working very hard to get it finished. But for me to see Pete Hines' twitter...and have him say....no updates or info on Dawnguard PS3?? How could you have NO updates?? Are things going well? Has there literally been NO change since it was released for pc? Is the DLC still running that poorly??? I doubt it.

I agree. In this case no news can't be good news. I mean the last thing we heard is that it is running like crap on the PS3 (my interp). If there is literally no new news, then it is probably safe to assume that they haven't fixed the crap state it is in. It would be nice to see Pete Hines say "We are working our butts off over here to get this out to you all. We appreciate your patience. We will give updates as soon as and as often as possible" If he said that... it wouldn't make me feel great... but it would make me feel better than... "no news on Dawnguard PS3"

At this point if Bethesda PR dept has any sense at all they will offer something to PS3 players. A discount, free exclusive armor or something...anything really.

I've been pretty patient so far, but honestly I'm tired of waiting. I'm going to watch a favorite LPer of mine play it and leave it at that, not sure if I'll ever buy it. Part frustration, and part because I'm just going to watch it since I'm tired of waiting.
