PS3 Release for Dawnguard-Thread #26

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 1:13 pm

Consider this a re-boot and fair warning. We understand people like to air their views about the things they are frustrated with, related to a game release. So we are allowing this thread to continue. But we have noticed a rather ugly tone in the last few threads and it is time to stop. Therefore, I am re-booting the thread so you all can have another chance to continue your discussion.

READ:

You may complain/make negative comments - as long as you abide by the forum rules - keep it constructive and civil.

This is not the forum or the thread for you to flame. Flaming includes the constant ill-conceived slagging of people who cannot defend themselves. We can and will hand out warnings and suspensions for flaming, period.

When this thread gets close to the 200 post mark, feel free to report it. A moderator will start a new thread.

Some other relevant information:

It has been http://www.bethblog.com/2012/08/02/dawnguard-ps3-update/ that the PS3 version will be delayed a bit as they are still working to ensure acceptable performance on the platform.

Gstaff, on 30 August 2012 - 06:52 PM, said:

Earlier in the month, we provided an update on Dawnguard's status for PS3.

It's been a few weeks, and we wanted to make sure everyone knows where we're at with Dawnguard. Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1413248-ps3-release-for-dawnguard-thread-23/# to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is obviously not the only DLC we’ve been working on either, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content.

We wish we had a more definitive answer right now. We understand the frustration when the same content is not available on all platforms. When we have an update, we will certainly let you know. We deeply appreciate all the time and support you have given us, and we’ll keep doing our best to return that.

Additional information from Pete Hines in response to Dawnguard:

"Yes, it’s just doesn’t http://www.slashgear.com/dawnguard-ps3-may-not-see-release-as-problems-persist-31245504/# well in all scenarios. Some folks would be fine, some would not.”

One of Bethesda’s top PR execs, Pete Hines, (who holds the position of VP of PR and http://www.ubergizmo.com/2012/09/skyrim-dawnguard-ps3-dlc-might-never-arrive/#), tweeted to a question that concerned the release date, saying, “No, we will not release it if we can’t get the performance to an ‘acceptable’ standard. Our stance on this has not changed.”

I think its a lost cause, it seems everybody has lost hope. If they announce a 3rd DLC before we get anything, I will be done with Bethesda.

We're slowly approaching thread 30, and it looks like there's no end in sight.

Haha if they happen to announce a 3rd DLC before PS3 even gets one, I would simply just give in. That would be just, annoying at that point. It wouldn't even be frustrating anymore, it's just a table flip and walk away and never come back lol

I'm kinda sad about this. Bethesda did a decent jobs at publishing dlc for Fallout 4 for all platforms around the same date, and before that they did exactly what they're doing now.

Fallout New Vegas was terrible. Absolutely terrible. I bought the Ultimate Edition, and didn't make it ten hours into the game. It was like watching a flipbook.

^Yeah, it's going to keep going higher and higher until everyone finally realizes it isn't coming. While I'd be happy if it did, but Hearthfire and Dawnguard is out for 360, and PC. Isn't that an obvious enough giveaway that it won't be coming?

I gave up on DG and HF ever making to PS3, I'm done with the game, I won't bother getting the missing Trophys I have left to get to much of a headache. I'm betting tuesday after dishonored release they'll have an update for us PS3, but I've been wrong before

And once again, all the reviews are saying Dishonored is AWESOME. And once again, it's probably all falsified information about the PS3 version.

I gotta admit Dishonored looks amazing and 4 months ago i would of bought it. But after all this Skyrim drama i will pass yes i know the game is not actually designed/programed by Bethesda but att the end of the day they the Bethesda logo will still be on the finished product. So i will pass i think it really svcks because i already had to do this with Bioware lol now im bummed out lol.

Bethesda also "just published" Fallout New Vegas, and we all know how that turned out. Unplayable, just like every other one of their games.

Had I known this problem was going to exist, I would have purchased an XBOX. I like the ps3 exclusives, but I enjoy TES and Fallout more. The way Todd Howard was making claims that the PS3 version was given as much love as all other platforms and that the end product between the xbox and ps3 was pretty much unnoticeable...my Bethesda concerns were no more! My questions had been answered and by buying the PS3, I'd get ps3 exclusives and a playable Skyrim and DLC; win - win!

However, the difference between Howard's fantasy that he spun for me and my actual reality is: I am now an owner of a poorly developed Skyrim and have no chance of having the DLC.

Had he told me the truth that there was a chance the ps3 product was going to be significantly worse, I would have bought the XBOX, shrugged off the ps3 exclusives, and would still be playing (and buying) DLC. Now I'm stuck with a really bad product because bethesda marketing was too scarde to tell ps3 users the truth.

Is Gstaff not going to be giving another update? It's bad enough that they aren't giving us regular updates but I figured they would at least throw us a bone and give us a monthly update. Is that really too much to ask for?

I'd say so. They don't want to give us regular updates and they say typically that there's nothing to say in these updates, that it'd be more so saying it's not out yet still working on it every month, week, or day.

This^ I don't care if Bethesda "made" it or not. I am approaching with extreme caution. I'm giving it time to read about bugginess and performance. "Fool me once...."

We might get something tomorrow I think. Well if they can stop playing dress up that is.

Remind me..... "No update at this time" counts as an update right? :stare:

This is pretty much my stance on it. Bethesda has failed us in so many ways, I'm just not going to buy their products anymore. Even if I had the Xbox or a pc capable of playing it with recommended specs (minumun specs are a joke most of the time) I wouldn't buy it. Kudos to them though stepping up and taking responsibility though sort of kind of...for once. Now the question is: Do they actually finish the job and fix it or let it become another Oblivion GOTY Vampire Glitch?

They might consider that as the Add-On Content that was advertised.

Sadly, unless its another beyond vague rehash of, "We're still working on it," don't get your hopes up. Was nary a hint of Skyrim DLC on 'the drop' yesterday evening. :nope:

I know. But my wife tells me to try to be more positive!

I do have the feeling though that PS3 will get the dlc though. Mainly so Beth can sit there and tell us how they listen to us and worked sooooo hard for us.

Wish i could muster even a tad bit of optimism at this point. I'm personally just waiting for them to formally announce they have officially tapped out.
