PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #29

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 8:52 pm

Too late you gave them a cent when you bought that used game  The gamestore like any gamestore is going to use their money to help restock inventory meaning buying more Bethesda products, along with paying the bills oh the awful bills. New or Used you can't escape giving them your money, unless you get it for free.

and or buy it off craigslist xD

Honestly, I can't place all the fault at Bethesda's feet here. I'm partially to blame for this as well, after all.

You'd think that after experiencing all the garbage that happened with Oblivion, Fallout 3, and New Vegas, I'd have learned my lesson. I suppose I thought that the fourth times the charm? Or perhaps after all that previous experience with sub-standard releases, game crippling bugs, and DLC issues, they'd be anticipating something of this magnitude - or at least the possibility of it happening, and plan accordingly.

So yes, technically I'm at fault as well for buying another Bethesda game for my favourite system.

Wrong, I didn't buy it from a game store, I bought it on a local buy/swap/sell forum.

History will repeat itself with the dragonborn dlc if its announced, they'll bring out patch for it in preparation for its release then the patch will mess up the game like 1.7 did and dragonborn will be released and that will be buggy and glitchy aswell, unless they can finally get it sorted and released on time.

The last patch added mounted combat which is cool but its not perfect i can kill a few wolves but anyhing else i might as well get off my horse, cause you gotta be a the right angle to hit anything, the patch actually caused glitches and bugs instead of fixing them :(

So today I decided to dust off Skyrim and make a new character because I was bored. It started off pretty well, I made a Bosmer, got to the end of the cave at the tutorial and was greeted with a loading screen. This isn't unusual, Skyrim has lots of loading screens. Except after 5 minutes I was still sitting there looking at it. At about the 8 minute mark I restarted the PS3 and continued on from my last save point.

This time I actually managed to get outside and continue down the path to Riverwood. Upon the path me and Hadvar encountered 3 wolves, upon attacking them the game froze. So I restarted it again, willing to give it one more try. My Ps3 at this point was making an awful chugging sound, almost as if the disk was making it sick but I still managed to get on the game and continue on towards riverwood. The game froze again as Alduin flew over head.

Skyrim is pretty sweet.

The same thing happened on my latest run-through of Skyrim as well. I did remedy the situation partially. Deleted the PS3 system data for Skyrim, both the base system data and the secondary one from the last patch. Then i rebooted the system. Reloaded Skyrim, reinstalled the last patch, and restarted the game. Still feels more sluggish than it did when 1.05 was the latest patch, but after the reinstall it isn't flat-out freezing anymore.

How crazy is that?

I really do feel bad for you PS3 users, you guys get treated like trash and all they have to say for it is "wait for more info", was there ever a reason why they didnt keep working with 4J studios? I know oblivion had its problems and only got the 2 major DLCs but I don't remember it being this bad.

I think they stop working with 4J for two reason.
1. They probaly though they can code for the PS3 without problems
2. Money, when Bethesda hired 4J they didn't cost as much. Also they themselfs didn't know how to work with PS3 back then with Oblivon yet a bunch of rookies got the base game of oblivion working way better than the game on the Xbox. Now 4j is a much bigger name in coding than they were five years ago they cost much more money than they did for thier services in the past.

Yea that would make sense, since Oblivion (I used ps3 for that) Ive moved on to my PC for gaming, just svcks to see an entire community of gamers essentially get strung along.

Well it's the gaming industery other companys piss on entire communtiys, Ubisoft is doing it with the PC community with AC3 although they don't treat the PC gamers as bad as Bethesda treats the PS3 users but still everyone piss someone off.

I didn't even get into the game, I did everything that Bethesda said to do. I made a new save file, I restarted the game and it crashed. So now I can't play my game, thanks Bethesda for the fully working game!

Oh, i agree 100%. Its a helluva thing when reinstalling multiple times is the only way the game will run decently. Wish there was a way to roll back to 1.05 patch on PS3(and if there is, someone please tell me how!) because Skyrim was the most stable i've seen it with that.

Before the patch Skyrim did not crash once for me. This is the first time something like this has happened.

Don't you have the option to not download any new patch the system may recognize? I do remember having the ability to elude patches if I didn't want to update the game and was still able to play.

That was four years ago, however. I don't play on my PS3 anymore, so I don't know if that's still viable option or not.

I had 20€ on my PSN to buy Dawnguard almost since it released for XBox360, but I ended up spending it on 'The Walking Dead Season Pass (probably some of the best money I ever spent), but I'll still add 20€ if Dawnguard ever comes out (which I believe it will)
