It has been http://www.bethblog.com/2012/08/02/dawnguard-ps3-update/ that the PS3 version will be delayed a bit as they are still working to ensure acceptable performance on the platform.

Gstaff, on 30 August 2012 - 06:52 PM, said:

Earlier in the month, we provided an update on Dawnguard's status for PS3.

It's been a few weeks, and we wanted to make sure everyone knows where we're at with Dawnguard. Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1413248-ps3-release-for-dawnguard-thread-23/# to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is obviously not the only DLC we’ve been working on either, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content.

We wish we had a more definitive answer right now. We understand the frustration when the same content is not available on all platforms. When we have an update, we will certainly let you know. We deeply appreciate all the time and support you have given us, and we’ll keep doing our best to return that.

Additional information from Pete Hines in response to Dawnguard:

"Yes, it’s just doesn’t perform well in all scenarios. Some folks would be fine, some would not.”

One of Bethesda’s top PR execs, Pete Hines, (who holds the position of VP of PR and marketing), tweeted to a question that concerned the release date, saying, “No, we will not release it if we can’t get the performance to an ‘acceptable’ standard. Our stance on this has not changed.”

According to Gstaff http://www.bethblog.com/2012/10/04/hearthfire-available-on-steam/comment-page-1/#comment-278242:

Friday, October 5, 2012 at 10:57 am:

We haven’t given up. We’re still working to see what’s possible.

Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 10:15 pm:

Our team is still working to make PS3 content available on PS and doing everything possible to make it a possibility.

So seeing as this is Thread #29 I take it that things aren't progressing smoothly for PS3.

Thats cool, I'm sure I saw a post somewhere on the interwebs that said that the next DLC, something called Dragonborn apparently according to the article which implied that the first two DLC may come out with Dragonborn.

I'm hoping they get the problems solved but I understand that the PS3 is difficult to programme for, purposely so according to some of the stuff I've read.

In the mean time I'll keep on keeping on I guess.

@1-No, it is really not.

@2-I'll believe that Bethesda will get ANY Skyrim DLC on the PS3 when i see it at this point.

@3-That stopped being an issue or valid concern around '08. More to the point, Bethesda has already claimed full responsibility for the current situation with unspecified "technical difficulties" keeping PS3 customers from purchasing DLC content.

Let's agree to disagree Spiritreaver. In the greater scheme of things if the DLC turns up then it'll be a lot of fun. If it doesn't I'll have some ice cream to console myself.

I'm sure that Bethesda is doing the best they can considering the circumstances, especially given the fact that if the DLC isn't released for PS3 there will be some significant financial consequences for them both in terms of litigation, possibly from Sony and an angry PS3 customer base, and also a loss of good will and future revenue from the PS3 faithful, which I most definitely consider myself a member of and I'm not even considering the fact that this will also negatively affect any other games that has the Bethesda brand name on.

It would be a miracle if any DLC that shows up dosen't break the game. It's happened with almost every other release from Bethesda.

There is no chance of a lawsuit against Bethesda. Mounted combat and extra kill-cams were released, and are now being used as a back-up plan if any real DLC can't be released.

And Bethesda dosen't really care about losing anyone from the PS3 base. Otherwise they would have fixed all their PS3 releases, and not left them broken to move on to releasing another broken game. Bethesda will always trick new people into buying their games, so they don't really need to worry about taking a hit in profits.

I agree that they have found loopholes and wormed out of a lawsuit based on the DLC, but I think we could actually bring one to them over how Skyrim was sold and the issues with the base game. I sound like a broken record, but how many of us bought the game based on the words of Pete Hines? How many of us bought the game because we believed Bethesda when they said the PS3 was getting special attention, a new engine, quicker bug fixes, and would be on a level of parity with the other consoles? We found out those words were a blatant lie and that Bethesda knew about the issues with the base game, but released it anyway in a horribly broken state. I think that would be the ammunition we would use in the lawsuit against them.

Waitwait. Wasn't 1.6 supposed to be the almost-there preparation patch? And the ps3-dlc menu is being added now? In other words, Beth knew already then they were [censored]ting ps3 owners over? That's kinda rotten. Dawnguard for ps3 wasn't even planned for 30 days post Xbox dlc release. Scumbaggery..
Any thoughts on this?

I really hope there isn't a PS3 timed exclusive as some are pointing towards. Having the other platforms wait for a DLC just as I did and still am is not anything to be happy about. If a new DLC does arrive i would hope that it would come to all platforms, including the PS3, at the same time.

Furthermore I don't believe that a timed exclusive is much of a compensation for PS3 users. A large discount and possibly free DLC would be nice, seeing as how long we've waited and how many times Bethesda has screwed us over.

Bethesda needs to work harder on this. If they have really been working hard on it since August 2nd, then it would be done by now...

Any thoughts on this?

Bethesda knew they were screwing PS3 owners over before they released the game. They knew it was broken, yet they still did it. The screwing over has just kind of snowballed from there. They got what they wanted though, our money. There is a reason why review sites didn't get the PS3 version to test. Beth knew the game was broken, and knew that if PS3 players found out pre-release they wouldn't buy the game. So, they lied to us, and made sure that people would find out about the PS3 version after 11/11/11. By then, it would be too late for gamers to get their money back and Bethesda laughed their way to the bank.
Yes, it was scumbaggery at it's worst. Now, Bethesda's shortcomings, ineptitude, and impotence are plastered all over the web for everyone to see. They have dug themselves into one hell of a hole and I don't see it ending well for them.
Speaking of lies, has anyone heard from Pete HInes lately?

The only problem with this is, if those counted as DLC, then why didn't we all get Dawnguard and Hearthfire at the same time because those two things should have counted then towards the exclusivity.

There is nothing they can do except a full reprogramming of the game from the ground up. The DLC is just adding bad programming on top of bad programming. If one's house has a foundation made of balsa wood and cardboard, one cannot expect to be able to add a second story to it and have it remain standing. If they put out DLC for Skyrim in it's current state, it will behave like the Fallout games and become completely unplayable due to lags, FPS issues, and freezes.

PS, just adding a thought.
Say they do reprogram the game, optimized for the PS3 with Sony's help, and that game becomes the GOTY version complete with all DLC. That way they could fix the issues, and still make some money for it. How many of us would believe it's fixed and buy it? I have to admit, I may if it has Sony's explicit seal of approval, and after spending a few months studying review sites and reading user comments on these forums. They would also need to set it at a price point of less than $50. All of that may gain a strong "maybe" from me.

True, but can't they just sacrifice some of the graphics like they did with the patches?

It's already looking ridiculous. I think we've all experienced NPCs and creatures falling out of the sky to populate 10 feet in front of our character as well as the general scenery showing up, again, 10 feet in front of our character. If the graphics get any worse they might as well just use the base frame and gray scale polygon structures for everything.

True, and at that point I would by it used. I wouldn't give Bethesda anymore money unless they clean up their act, and show they actually care about their supporters.

I would definitely not buy it at this point. I bought the game once and I am not going to buy it a second time.
If we only had to pay a little less than what all the dlcs cost put together, for the GOTY, then maybe I would get it. Otherwise they would have to make a trade so they would get my old game and give me the GOTY version free of charge but lets face it that is not going to happen.

At this point I am not going to buy any games that Bethesda has had anything to do with, unless they redeem themselves first, simply because I get the feeling that they will screw me again.

I am currently working on getting into the gaming business myself and I would never ever do anything like what Bethesda has done so far. It is simply bad business!
As far as I am concerned you do not release a dlc for either platform unless it is ready for the others too, exclusive agreement or not. (They would still get it 30 days earlier than the others just later in the year).
The community is crying for information... Why not post a check list of the problems needing to be solved and then update it every now and again. (Don't tell me that the ones fixing the problems do not have a list of said problems because we all know that they do).
Lastly you do not announce the release of a second dlc when some of the platforms have not even gotten the first one yet because then you will obviously be angering your playerbase. (Which in turn will lose you money if you anger them enough).

I can perhaps see why it would be taking a while (most of the team may have moved onto Fallout 4 or whatever), but I think it would be better for Bethesda to dedicate all their efforts into making their current release stable before moving onto the next game. Develop all platforms from the ground up instead of making one version (360) and dumping it into other platforms.

Someone else stated that there were probably specific guidelines as to what was considered to be exclusive to 360.

More than likely, any paid additional content is 360 exclusive where any free additional content is not related to the deal.

In short your chances of buying it if they did what you stated is 1 in 1000, most likely not at all. In reality you won't trust any of their products again for a long time so why even consider the idea of buying any in the near future.

That's about the short of it. They must earn my trust back. I have poured too much money into broken games and broken promises to fall for anything they say again. I feel bad though. I'm going to totally treat those less jaded than me, and more naive, as guinea pigs and allow them to pay full price for the game and beta test it for me when it is released. My next Bethesda purchase, if there is ever one after this, will be based exclusively on the reviews posted by those that use these forums. Although, if history repeats itself and they "forget" to send sites like IGN a PS3 copy of their next game I will write it off before it is even released. Not falling for that one again.
