Some other relevant information:

It has been http://www.bethblog.com/2012/08/02/dawnguard-ps3-update/ that the PS3 version will be delayed a bit as they are still working to ensure acceptable performance on the platform.

Gstaff, on 30 August 2012 - 06:52 PM, said:

Earlier in the month, we provided an update on Dawnguard's status for PS3.

It's been a few weeks, and we wanted to make sure everyone knows where we're at with Dawnguard. Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1413248-ps3-release-for-dawnguard-thread-23/# to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is obviously not the only DLC we’ve been working on either, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content.

We wish we had a more definitive answer right now. We understand the frustration when the same content is not available on all platforms. When we have an update, we will certainly let you know. We deeply appreciate all the time and support you have given us, and we’ll keep doing our best to return that.

Additional information from Pete Hines in response to Dawnguard:

"Yes, it’s just doesn’t perform well in all scenarios. Some folks would be fine, some would not.”

One of Bethesda’s top PR execs, Pete Hines, (who holds the position of VP of PR and marketing), tweeted to a question that concerned the release date, saying, “No, we will not release it if we can’t get the performance to an ‘acceptable’ standard. Our stance on this has not changed.”

According to Gstaff http://www.bethblog.com/2012/10/04/hearthfire-available-on-steam/comment-page-1/#comment-278242:

Friday, October 5, 2012 at 10:57 am:

We haven’t given up. We’re still working to see what’s possible.

Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 10:15 pm:

Our team is still working to make PS3 content available on PS and doing everything possible to make it a possibility.

So back in the other thread there was somebody who sounds like he knows a little bit about whats going on with the programming for the PS3 version of Skyrim. What I'd like to know is if it's easier to convert a PS3 programmed game to Xbox 360 why isn't that the way its being done by Bethesda?

Is there some kind of financial incentive to programme for Xbox 360 and then port it to PS3?

Developers can sometimes be geared to use a certain platform as a core development machine, there are many corporate reasons why a certain platform is favoured and unless we are in the industry, exact reasons would be speculative.

Beth seems geared towards XBox, just the way it is.

Wow yeh... the contrast between Gearbox and Beth. Gearbox literally chucks new content at you, and with an enthusiasm that is frankly infectious... meanwhile, you come back here for some news and find the usual moaning foot-shuffling evasion from Bethesda. It's such a pity, Skyrim is such a great game, but the sense of being taken for a chump by the developer has taken away much of the pleasure of late.

They need to release the trailer at midnight tonight to get everyone over the excitement and we can see what the deal is. We'll know about PS3 DLC tomorrow but I don't want to have to wait.

IMO no. DLC, 'add-on', expansion pack; its all just a different way of describing the same thing. An electronic product sold that compliments an existing software product.

Most Bethesda DLC is considered to be expansion packs though. The general view of expansion packs are add-ons that bring lots of new stuff to the base game, like the Gods And Kings expansion for civilisation 5, or Episodes of Liberty city for GTA 4. DLC is basically the same thing, but can range from Dawnguard to a map pack to weapon skins to horse armor. 9 out of 10 times DLC is going to be smaller than an expansion pack.

The source code for the "Dragonborn" DLC is very interesting as it reads something about PS3. And Flying mounts possibly. And isn't the Talvanion or ever how it's spelled in Morrowind?

Wow, still nothing.

If they're not going to do it then say it. I suppose they are sweeping it under the rug to avoid unwanted bad PR. This whole thing is kind of disgusting and I'm disappointed that the press hasn't dogged Bethesda over the issue.

I guess we will have to hope that a game of the year edition for the ps3 includes all of the content. I feel like a chump buying this game at full price, especially since I'm well aware of their previous PS3 games such as Fallout (which I adore).

Eurgh.

Telvanni. They were one of the Great Houses in Morrowind, the one that was all about gaining power through the mastery of magic. Gods, i loved that game!

EDIT: Man, can't stop thinking about it now. Gonna have to go find my copy of Morrowind and load it up. I loved how Morrowind was part of the Empire, but it wasn't really part of the Empire lol.
