"With vampires, the stat bonuses increase for every night you go without feeding, though your weakness to fire and sunlight increases by huge amounts, and your appearance deteriorates to a point that everyone will recognize you for what you are, which, naturally, causes problems."-Skyrim vampire description from person who played it.

Take it with a grain of salt, but I think the Cyrodiilic vampires indeed have returned. From what Todd said and this guy said, it's a defitine.

Sigh, hopefully its wrong, but sounds like a weird thing to lie about.

The clans, quests and other environmental gameplay aspects of vampirism could still have been improved though. Im hoping for that more than the stat stuff.

So which clan do we have? No one knows how the vampire gameplay is?
well from what we've heard so far it really sounds like The Order from Cyrodiil is expanding North.

which is a prediction i made a long time ago... either that or beth is messing up their own lore and now all vamps are like the cyrodiil clan

That's just disgusting. That sounds EXACTLY like Oblivion vampires, which were a joke. I've ranted before about this, but now I'm so upset I'm going to rant again.

How much SENSE does it make to have vampires that can ONLY feed on sleeping people and it doesn't even kill them? This is a game where you can join a gang of assassins and kill people for money and other bonuses. You can even kill people for sport if you want to, and as long as you don't get caught, there's no consequences. You'd THINK that in a game like this, becoming a vampire, one who gains eternal youth and power by drinking the blood of others, that you'd becoming a fearsome killing machine.

But NO! You turn into a wrinkly, passive, pillow puff person who only occasionally sips a witto' bit o' blood from a sleeping victim in sneak mode. And if you have yer witto' sip every three days, you'll have NO powers, the sun won't bother you at all and blah blah blah.

The COUNT on SESAME STREET is a better vampire than the stupid Oblivion vampires. BOO! HISS!!!

I HATE the abomination that Oblivion vampires are. They are a disgrace to vampirekind the world over!

And now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go watch Underworld and remember that there really ARE some people out there who know what a vampire is SUPPOSED to be.

Sigh. I feel better now. Actually, I feel loads better, because I was torn between being a vampire and a werewolf. Now the decision is easy peasy. Werewolf. Screw the stupid vampires. In fact, this is even better than I could have hoped for, now that I think about it.

Give me Van Helsing! I will begin the Underworld war between Lycans and Vampires! I will slay vampires as a werewolf. I am Lucian, hear me roar! All vampires shall hear my name and despair! They shall rue the day that they turned into a pathetic jellyfish of the night!

Hear me, vampires. I am coming. And Death is with me.

Awesome post.

You are officially the Wyatt Earp of werewolves and vampires are the cowboy outlaws. Congratulations!

Let's just hope they look differently than they did in Oblivion.

Here is what I've scrounged up so far from various previews, pax, etc:

They seem to look like mages wearing dark robes and seem to focus on magic. I don't think there is any special look to their faces at all as the people who faced them said they looked like normal people.
Master vampires are pretty tough, and they have thralls and familiars which are easy to kill.
The PC can get infected through magic attacks.
They attack with some kind of drain life force spell.
They have cages hanging from the ceiling in their lairs. Perhaps they keep cattle in there to feed on.
The disease "sounds" just like Oblivion vampires, but no actual confirmation of this yet.
I guess if you feed you can walk in the sun. Not sure for how long.
They taunt you in combat.
They turn to ash when killed

Speculation...
Perhaps the few vamps that have been seen happened to be mage types and there could be warriors, etc.
I think they are weak to fire

"Well, judging from all the attention Werewolves got,( I.E. Kill Animations, questlines, special Items,) I expect Vamps to get the same treatment."

I hope your logic is sound.

Oh god I hope they don't extend all those powers to other clans. I'd much prefer it if the Cyrodiil clan expanded North.

Yeah, our best bet is that the Order is back. Hopefully we have a damn clan structure with blood-svcking politics this time around.

I would be quite disppointed if vampirism mechanics were the same in Skyrim as they were in Oblivion. Not feeding makes you stronger? It should be the other way around: feed regularly or begin to weaken and grow more and more sensitive to sunlight.

Probably the same as Oblivion, minus the wrinkles. And lore even hints that it's possible for vampires to migrate. Cyrodiilic vampires don't tolerate other clans, so they take over and eradicate everything else.

I mean we do feed on sleeping people in Skyrim.
whadda ya mean we?
GET AWAY, we don't take kindly to yeh kind round hear you beast!! LOL

seriously though i hope they have some sort of system in place that's not as hard as oblivions was just to cure vampirism i was stuck at the old ladys house everytime i tried to travel, make it there i died :( had to create a new character

We had a reason for that. Read ingame books, the reason it was backwards for Cyrodiilic vampires was because of a Pact they made with Clavicus VIle.

Best compilation so far. Looks like they opted to develop werewolves and leave vampires as a minor element. Hopefully we'll see feeding animations, but I'm not expecting anything too fancy like quest branches and several clans. Just like Oblivion.

So are these master vampires called "Master Vampire" in the game? If so that would classify them as a creature rather than an NPC with a name. If that is the case, I think we can kiss all hopes for vampire clans out the window...

What didn't you like about it?

Speaking for myself, there was no real impact on gameplay, no quests, no path to follow, no real reaction from almost all NPCs, it felt like a row of buffs/debuffs at best. It was like something just thrown in there to please hardcoe fans, not an actual feature like all the nifty little things we've been learning about werewolves.

Thank the bloody Maker!! lol I always wanted the well fed vamps to look normal seeing as we put so much time into making our characters look a certain way. Then you turn and become bloated and aged in the face...

I really hope that its a radical improvement over OB. I love vampires but I loathed the way they were handled there. Definitely looking forward to a huge improvement! At best there'll be things like Vampire-exclusive clans, quests and perks; man, that'd be just awesome. :D
It has perks thats been confirmed

That just sounds like a complete copy and paste of Oblivion Vampires... I doubt Bethesda would keep them the exact same in Skyrim. I could be wrong, but everything else has improved so much and werewolves got so much detail that I find it hard to believe vampires won't.
Why do people keep saying thetes wetewolfs in the retail game? they have said no to that and said no coment to DLC werewolfs.

Little late to the party? That's okay!

Werewolves have been seen, heard, transformed into, and all around adored in screens and videos that have shown up around the internet since the leak happened a few days ago.

Rules state we can't post links.
