Random spoilers and stuff about Vampires

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 7:38 pm

If you wander into a Vampire den, you will be attacked not only by vampires, but also by "Vampires' thralls" and "Vampire fledglings."

A thrall is a kind of serf (in [medieval] feudal systems, a serf pledged his labor to a lord in exchange for protection and/or a piece of land to toil).

A fledgling is someone young, new or inexperienced.

My guess is that mortals agree to become servants to vampires in exchange for the promise of being turned and acquiring vampiric powers and priviledges.

On a side note, vampire deaths look much better now. A slain vampire disintergrates into a pile of ash, which you can scoop up, and you might also find gold and other loot if you search the ashes.
This makes much more sense than in Oblivion, where you could take vampire ashes out of an intact corpse.

I'm sure Vampire Ash was looted off intact Vampire bodies...whilst some enemies in Vampire dungeons turned to ash however they never appear alone, have names like Bandit and have a blue glow their body indicating they are reanimated? Perhaps advlt vampires turn to ash and fledgings don't then.. :s

Makes sense. They had "cattle" in Morrowind. Here's to hoping they have established clans and quests to go with them.

Someone stumbled upon vampire fledglings and said that they looked like old scary witches. The women in that screenshot fit that description :P

The feathers could be part of the elaborate rags they're wearing  But anyway, maybe I'm wrong, I'm sure Bethesda could have modelled more than one scary looking old woman :P

Edit: Wait what the...they have 4 fingers??! Ok those aren't vampire fledglings :unsure2: Good news for variety though :goodjob:

The thralls are definitely not vampires (yet).
The fledglings might not be full vampires, but may be in the 3-day stage between the point of being bitten and the point of no return after which vampirism cannot be cured with medicine (cure disease potion).

I think fledglings are just new vampires that have not been vampires very long. That is normally what a vampire fledgling means.

i think it would be awesome if you gained ranks like that... like start off as a fledgling and then after a certain amount of time / doing quests for people you go up in rank and power.

Yes, I agree as a vampire we should gain higher ranks and more powers as time goes by and we complete vampire related quests.
