I'm really dissapointed.

I was really looking forward to TES:O. I was skeptical that it could work, but as more and more progress was made it slowly turned me into a believer. I had $100 put aside just to ensure I had enough money to buy a copy and maybe some cash item goodies, but then it’s announced that TES:O will be subscription based.

What’s up with this? Guild Wars made a great model for MMOs to follow, and it was both fair to the customer and stock holders alike. Once I bought the game for a fair price it was mine to play when I want. It didn't treat the customer like they only rented the game, and for once I actually could enjoy an MMO experience without having to place everything in my life on hold just to get the most out of my money. Cash item shops gave a steady stream of revenue and it turned a game that would have otherwise been an 8/10 into a 10/10 imo.

Nothing irritates me more than paying multiple times for a product, and this is a deal breaker for me. TES:O is losing a lot of potential customers by doing this.

If you think you can find a better game, please go buy it.

The reason they are setting that price is because they feel it is worth it. Those that agree will pay. Those that don't, won't.

Meh, I feel like I've said all I need to say about this. The sub fee is reasonable imo, but it depends on the person and their spendable income I suppose.

Is just what they went with. Its too bad its a game breaker for you. I personally like the subscription more because it saves me a ton of money but they really aren't losing a lot of potential customers. Most of the TESO community is in favor of the Subscription or so all the polls have said thus far. A survey Tamriel Foundry did showed that more like the subscription model as well as the REDDIT survey that was given out several months ago. Sure they are losing some but it won't be so much that is a game changer for them. They are a huge company and they know what they are doing.

People that rant about how they made the biggest mistake should be laughed at because they are the ones sitting at home with no financial education. they know nothing and the company hires specialists.

I'm sorry but i'm putting myself through college, a college that costs 30 grand a year and yes It is expensive and yes I have loans out and work all while doing this but somehow I still manage to spend 15 a month on a subscription. Everyone can afford it but some choose not to. When they say they can't its because they don't want to really. I'm not attacking you I just find it funny that people say they can't afford that..... how do they have a computer? How are they paying for their internet? What are they doing even on the computer and not working if they are so poor.

I was also dissapointed, but not suprised. There were like 6+ threads locked already. Quite a large number of player a apperently willing to throw hundreds of dollars at the game. I kinda got past that, since they already made their decision. I'm looking for more info about ESO, but the more i find the less it feels as a TES game.

I know what you mean...personally, I'm on SSI because of a disability, but I'm still going to be paying full price for it. I meant perhaps people whose income just barely is enough for their basic needs, or people who are young and perhaps their only source of income is from an allowance or something like that.

I think 15$ is a very reasonable price for a quality game. If the game isn't quality, then people will stop paying for it and TESO will be forced to go F2P. I really hope that doesn't happen, especially because 15$ isn't that much money. It's 2 hours of minimum wage work for a whole month.

What you might want to do is wait a month or two and give it a chance. See what people have to say about it before investing in the game. Right now, nobody - not even beta testers - know how the final product will fare. This game might well be worth the $15 a month. It might not. In the end, majority rules and ZOS will either keep the sub model or go f2p but only time will tell.

As anyone will tell you, it's not the price that makes people stop playing a game. Only when people get bored with a game will people stop paying for it. So, it's all up to ZOS now to keep us happy.

I'm more than happy to pay 15 bucks a month. However, if I get bored I will stop playing, even if it was free.

How is it fair to me that the game is completely unplayable cause it's boring as [censored], with no new content really worth playing?

ESO made a great model for GREAT MMOs to follow, and 15 bucks a month is both fair to the customer and stock holders alike.

The quanlity of the content should determine if a monthly fee is waranted. Server upkeep is expensive, and being able to support massive battles requires expensive hardware. If new content is released reasonably often and I can have a 100 v 100 keep battle without the servers melting, I will be happy to pay the sub. If this game can provide a "premium" gaming experience, then it's worth the cost. If it can't, people will not pay beyond the first month and the sub will likely change. Making a decision this early is pointless because we lack enough information to make an informed choice.

Yes! How is it fair that a company makes something that appeals to someone who isn't you!?

The nerve!

Whether you like it or not, they're pumping out new content that alot of people enjoy on a monthly basis without a subscription cost

I agree with everything except that first sentence.

The quality of the content should determine if a player is willing to keep playing a game. If the quality svcks, he will leave, even if it is free.

The company's experts determines if a monthly fee is warranted. It's up to the players to decide if 50 cents a day is worth hours of fun.

You will be waiting for more than a few months if you want it to go F2P. Because it won't.

And I'm sure those people will be happy to stay there. No need to bring them over to ESO if they do not want to pay.

World of Warcraft and EvE are still rocking the P2P model. If the game goes F2P it will be way more than a few months out. A year at the very least but if it is super successful which I believe it will be it won't go F2P.

The OP didn't say GW2. She said Guild Wars. I read that as the released in 2005, and receives no more content updates (not even paid expansions) Guild Wars. That I only managed to drag out for a month by putzing around, while everyone else I knew blew through the entire base game in a weekend and was gone within two weeks.

Don't forget Warhammer, Asheron's Call, and Final Fantasy 11, amongst others.
