Crow's right your head is rather round.
But why no it's a useful feature and easy to ignore.

That's it- it is not easy to ignore. Very intrusive and annoying.

I used some css crap to have it fixed for the previous skin.

That could also be it - give the users choice with it.
I don't see why sites don't do this either - box ticked, tooler enabled. Or box unticked, tooler bar invisible/disabled

Minor issues:
  • If you insert a link, then try to edit the link's text (like correcting a misspelling for instance), the text typed is not always part of the link... reverts to White, and can become permanently underlined; In my case I had to delete the previous word (from before the start of the link) to revert back to normal.
  • Boards do not list the thread's most recent post link next to the last member's name ~just a usability issue, I'm sure many members have built up the habit of clicking the last post link to check updates.
  • Large emoticons can become too small to see what they depict on the scaled preview in the editor.
  • Fonts too small (I almost resorted to Greasemonkey, but found that Firefox is passable just to press CTRL++ a couple times to bump the size up. Unfortunately, trying that with "Zoom Text Only" enabled, ruins the page layout).

Firefox 8 and Firefox 9
Zoom Text Only is enabled
Zoom is configured to 120%

Avatars etc. are not Left Aligned and quote boxes cover them up. Even if you were to make font bigger I would want to retain the ability to zoom the text to my liking without breaking the page layout :/

Edit: Quick Edit is also not aligned properly. as seen here http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h133/franpa/Untitled-104.png

The mobile theme lacks any page links, you can't say for instance jump to the latest post, you have to click through each page. Really annoying, makes mobile browsing too tedious to be worth even getting on.
This is an issue for me too as I use the mobile site a lot. Another thing it does is when I try to enter a thread it sends me to a random page in the same thread each time I try to go back into it.

Er, it's suddenly got much narrower: acres of unused space on both sides, in the index and the topics themselves.

I found the situation where people were seeing a much narrower version than everyone else. Removing the code made it default to the skinny version until the Cloud updated. Which now it has and it should be fixed. if not, try to CTRL + F5.

Not sure if this post should go here, but its about these forums in particular. I registered for this forum a few days ago and I enjoy the increased functionality in general, but its so hard to read posts anymore.

All I get is that background image with smoke surrounding the Nord Warrior wearing his horned helmet, and white text over it. Obviously with the white smoke in the background, white text is very hard to read. I find myself selecting the text I want to read to save my eyes.

What's weird is that I don't think its supposed to be this way. When I click on a new thread it loads up with that background image mostly covered by a black field that all the text from the posts sit on. However after about 2 seconds once I open a new thread, the black field disappears and that text goes back to sitting on just the "Nord Warrior" image and becomes very hard to read.

Its not like that when someone uses a quote in their reply, then I get a nice dark grey box that the quote text is sitting on. But the normal posts are not that way because the black background disappears for me every time shortly after opening a thread.

I tried looking in profile settings but didn't see anything related to this issue. Does anyone know whats going on and how I can fix it? This really does not seem to be working as intended...

P.S. I've changed my 'theme' to the IP Board and its now functional, but I thought the Warrior theme was cool I just kept losing the black field superimposed over the Warrior picture that made the font readable.

Yeah firefox is still buggy with replies. Sometimes I can't get the cursor to show and have to re-reply a few times till it shows. Also in editing with firefox I'd lose the cursor (line that lets me type).

and for crying out loud how is this color scheme not annoying people. The TES forums with the stark black background and the ultra white letters are searing into my cranium. IF ONLY I HAD SOME WAY TO COMMUNICATE HOW ANNOYING IT IS!!

please work on toning he contrast between colors.

You did it before - you can do it again.

pretty please.

First off I can't find the settings on the new skin to disable emoticons / smilies -- these bug the HELL out of me.

Finally got the buttons & pasting into the text box working by allowing the forums through my Javascript pop-up blocker (Better Pop-up Blocker for Chrome, and NoScript for Firefox). The old forums didn't have this problem, and it seems like potentially erroneous coding that pasting directly into the text field was disabled when Javascript was disabled.

So yeah, if you have problems with buttons or the text field, disable anything that could potentially be blocking Javascript on the page, as it seems this new skin is far more Javascript-heavy than the old one. This may include your browser's built-in pop-up blocker.

A minor user annoyance, but having thread subtitles down and right instead of just straight down just seems odd. What's more important, the OP's name or the subtitle/more information?

In a previous version, the drop-down forum selector was working instantly and was focused on a forum you are reading at the moment, so if you wanted to switch from, say, one forum in Morrowind section to another, it took just two rapid mouse clicks. Now, the selector takes more than a second to load and needs to be scrolled down from the beginning through all forums you'd never want to know about. *Every* time. And it has spunk to call itself "Quick Navigation". :stare:

Automatic loading of forum members' profile leaflets must have an option to turn it off. You *don't* need additional lag and interference when all you do is scroll down the page and the mouse cursor accidentally hovers in the wrong place. Profile must be something you *call* to see, not something that imposes itself on you when it pleases.

The "My media" button in the reply form suggests that there *is* some media that users can upload to the site. It also has the "Attachments" tab, as if there was a possibility to attach something to posts. Yet, such possibility does not exist.

Slight annoyance I just found -- despite hard reload (SHIFT+F5), deleting my browser cache, using a different browser, etc., some threads I just replied in are showing up in "bold" denoting new replies.

Thanks - that seems to be working well now.

Edit:

The "Whos viewing this Thread" is only visible on some pages and then vanishes on others?

Rohugh said it was something to do with the various servers handling the forums still getting into synch with each other.

I don't know if anyone has reported this yet, but it seems to me there is a bug in the post editor if you want to edit your post afterwards.

This is what I did when I notice it. I just posted a reply and saw I need to edit the post, so edit the post without refreshing the page first instead I did it right away but the submit button didn't work. :wallbash:

I use Windows7 and Firefox 8.1 if that's important. What's wrong?

EDIT: This report is only relevant for using the full editor mode without refreshing the page first I think

Something slightly annoying that I noticed. Firefox doesnt seem to be catching misspelled words on the forums. Previously it would just underline the work in red, but now it doesnt for the forums anymore. Any other site it works fine for me. I am using Firefox 9.0.1.

I've also notice that and solution is simple just preview your reply and the cursor is in the line where you wanted to be in the first place.

I haven't seen the spell check problems, the only thing I notice is that when pasting into the reply box you have to be next to the cursor. Before you could click anywhere in the reply box and the pasted content would automatically go where the cursor was.
