Ok....send me my $20 refund and I will......

Why should anyone refund your money? You got what you paid for, if you choose not to like it that is no reason to refund anything. Not many retailers will refund your money because you did not like something you brought. You were clearly told before you downloaded it there were no refunds.

You got what you paid for,

I paid for a DLC where I could defeat a clan of vampires, or end the tyranny of the sun.
I didnt pay to have half of the population killed.

So what's really happening? Is it that the vampire attacks happen after you start DG, or is it that they happen right from the start? For example..... you step of the cart, create your toon, run to Riverwood to find a vampire group attacking the entire town. If it's happening from the very start then it is a major issue, if I where you guys ( I'm having no issues myself ) I wouldn't give up. I would keep pushing the issue, if there wasn't so much gripe over the nirnroot glow bug then it wouldn't have been fixed, so it would be smart to keep a thread going so as to catch Beth's attention.

Vampire attacks are constant: before, during and supposedly after you do Dawnguard. Whether you're level 1 or level 81, they come.
Supposedly the level 1 would have it better though, as the vampires level with you. If you're level 1 the guards can take them, but if you're level 81 then the vamps will massacre your towns.

No one is forcing you to start anything, no one is forcing you to buy or play the DLC. You do not like it just delete it and go back to playing Skyrim the usual way.

'no one is forcing you to start anything' what was i starting? 'no-one is forcing you to buy or play the dlc' too late i bought it.
'you do not like it just delete it and go back to playing skyrim the usual way' this dlc is what brought me back to skyrim after 260+ hours of play on my main character, deleting dawnguard wont make me want to play skyrim the normal way. if the problem does get patched then i will have to re download it....

Really
I only experienced on attack by one vampire on Solitude and it was enough to deter me from entering a town / city unless I REALLY had to. As for the guards, I'm Lv. 81 and the guards in my game seem to be able to handle the vamps fairly well, I still need to help but they could do it on their own but that's outside. I'm feel bad for those who seem to have a bugged Dawnguard, keep the issue on the first page until you guys get word of a fix.

It's been over a week now with a topic (or multiple), about this being nearly top of this forum every day since launch. Its pretty clear quite a quite few players have issue with this and that's not counting the rest of the people posting on other forums about it also. Yet not a single word about it from the devs.

Unfortunately, Xbox LIVE offers no refunds whatsoever on any item downloaded through their service, whether you like said download or not. Nothing special was changed for Dawnguard, this is the way it has always been.

I know Uriel....I'm not so sure there isn't a glitch with the vampire attack Towns feature, the second character I started to run thru dg hasn't had as many attacks. I'm still getting a fair amount, but at least it's not constant attacks like my other one

I'd say that the first game has a glitch in the randomization algorithm. All of my games are like your second one; I have attacks, but they're not constant. They happen more when I Fast Travel than when I run around and arrive at a city via Shadowmere/Arvak. Your second game, the attacks are happening as they should.

But like the Dragon attacks, they'll increase in frequency as you progress through the quest line, but once you complete a questline they'll drop off considerably.

Don't lose heart, I'm sure they'll get the randomization math correct in the next patch, or at least be able to ferret out what exactly the glitch is and isolate and fix it at that time.

Hopefully that's what it is....I have same thing with characters and dragons, some get tons of attacks, some very few

And my two characters are like this as well (Dragons and Vampire attacks...). My Dunmer gets attacks on a fairly frequent basis, my Khajiit get them on every trip to a city. It doesn't stop them from handling business (the Guards regularly have it handled before I can get there. All I've ever lost are Guards and two beggars), but the randomizer may require a little a little tweaking (which I suspect will come with the next patch).

But it's good to know that it's finally giving you a look at what the frequency is supposed to be like. Might give you a different outlook on the attacks.

I hold the OP's skill in question. One or two NPC's sure, but that many...even if he didnt notice vamps were there, riften is flooded with guards, so they should've held 'em back while he dispatched the Vamps.

Not to mention that half of the populace are marked as essential and the other half wield some serious magic/weapons... And the fact that it's populated with almost 20-25 guards.

Even unfixed, it's not that bad. The scope and quality of the Expansion far outweighs this one issue IMO. So even if it isn't fixed, you'll still love the Expansion. :D

Oh, I do love Dawnguard. I still havent even done a playthrough on the Vampire side (even though its basically the same thing).

I just dont see how people are "for" the attacks. What would the problem be if they were removed from cities, or at least NPCs would run away instead of fight?

Or even Remove them (only from cities) after you finish the MQ?

Because it gives us the sense that there's actually some kind of urgency to the Vampire attacks. If the guards were talking about all of the Vampire attacks, but there were no attacks on the cities, then it would be very ho-hum from the stand-point of myself and many other people.

This is just one reason (and my own opinion) why I like the attacks on the cities. The DLC would have a boring repetitive feel without that added sense of urgency. I do find myself looking forward to entering a city and getting twitchy trigger fingers wondering; "is this time going to bring the attacks? Or will it be a normal visit?". I love that sense of suspense!
