It does kinda remind me of the brainbug from Starhip Troopers... Too lazy to find that post to quote it but I remember reading it. Minus the brain scythe...

from the looks of things a shellbug is just another life stage of a chaurus like those horrific chaurus hunters or perhaps the falmer are attempting to breed a type of chaurus that doesnt put up so much of a fight when you attempt to dismember it for its shell.

Perhaps they simply grow to a certain size, then shed the shell. Ta da, Falmer buildings. xP

Naw, I gently whacked it with a pickaxe and took only what I needed leaving it alive and happy like a plump twinkie covered in potato chips.

The other one is where BoSStealthAgent said it would be, at the Forgotten Vale Cave... it's on the left side when you fasttravel to the Forgotten Vale.

Ps i didn't kill them, just barley kissed them with my pickaxe and got 4 shells total => helmet, upgrade & a spare shell ;)

Well yeah, I was just having trouble finding it in the forgotten cave, good to know they do respawn however.

When I first saw that thing I was like WTH is that and fired like 100 fire balls at it and used fire and ice storms and couldnt kill it. So I locked it back up and ran. That thing gave me nightmares. Reminded me of the huge brain bug from Starship troopers.

So I just wiped out two species in the last couple of hours? :sadvaultboy:

Might as well go and kill the last snow elf to make it three out of three...

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if the shellbug respawn. Not sure about the frost giants though.

I was like whoa, when I came upto it from the Spiral cave... cautiously checked it out... then Mined it... only saw one... but notice the resemblance of its shell to some of the Falmer homes...

Please, someone, tell me I'm not the only person who felt like a total monster for cracking that cute creature open like a pistachio nut...

I don't know why but I felt awful, I was totally shocked when it happened and the only thing that soothed my conscious was the neat helmet I forged from the beast's ill gotten shell... On a slightly less depressing note, how many of these gentle giants are there? If there's only one, I'll sob for days into this finely crafted helmet.

I feel like I just cracked open a crunchy manatee.

No I did it last night and felt pretty bad. I had no idea what it was, fired a few shots at it, then tested the Aura Whisper out on it and it did not come up as being alive. Was a bit of a shock when my character mined it. :(

Will try the two piece trick shortly and see how that goes, I have to do the Forgotten Vale all over again due to a glitch.
