Skyrim Disappointments

Really? Already? I still have a few hours to go before my game is out, and there's complaints, this is what pisses me off.

How long has the game been out in your areas? A couple hours?

Calm down.

you calm down. if you dont like reading complaints quit reading the forums

Pretty disappointed.

Crossfire impacts performance negatively. I get more fps with a single card than with two.

And even playing on 1 6970, the game dips into the 20's fps. It's funny how hardware 10 times as fast as a 360 strugles with the game.

Until AMD makes a profile for it, and your not against 3rd party apps, use Radeon Pro.

Use the Bioshock or Crysis profiles....that'll get those 2 cards humming again.

Still even with 1 card you should be fairing better then 20 lows

New profile should be out soon enough.

I will point out that criticising the choice to take out spell making is totally valid criticism and was offered back when that announcement was made. It is valid not because any player says so, but because of how Beth chooses to market their TES games. They cannot state one thing in marketing but undermine that in such a statement in the actual product. That is hypocritical at best, and deliberate misleading marketing to make sales at worst. They understand this quite well because they've heard it for many years.

I found it interesting to hear Todd Howard state in one interview that he doesn't really play Japanese RPGs because they do not meet his preferences in most cases. However, he also states that he was originally inspired by playing Wizardry (and other games of that period such as Ultima). I wonder if he knows that Wizardry is actually the inspiration for the entire role playing game genre in Japan.

Don't get me wrong, I like Todd Howard and spend tons of time anolyzing TES (and FO, too). However, my anolytical, academic mind cannot ignore such things when I hear them, see them, or experience them in some other way.

In any event, the point is that Beth needs to be far more accurate and conservative in their marketing claims, or they need to allow genuine player freedom to be who we want and do what we want, how we want. That's the only way to avoid appearing (or simply being) hypocritical.

Thats BS and you know it, this has nothing at all to do with making Bethesda a better company, to get them to make better games or improve... and you know it. It is all about beating your chests, with all the positive hype and reviews it is your job, your personal goal, to bring the game down! Don't try me I have been around these forums and other game forums long enough to know trolls when I see them.

so everyone should sit around and worship bethesda because you say so?

Considering that I'm not going to use magic at all except for healing, your post is quite rude. I had problems with Old World Blues when it came out, but I listed like 3 dozen reasons why I was dissapointed. The OP's post is basically "I only get 85 spells or 85 spell effects, this game svcks".

Seriously, think before you post.

Nah.......I didn't know that.......or did I?

But the main point is that people are already complaining. We knew spell making wasn't returning, so big whoopty doo.

Also PC users are mad that they have to spend a few extra seconds in the interface because it wasn't made for a mouse.

I would like to hear an actual big fault please.

This entire thread is a testament to why I cant play games or watch movies with my cousin anymore. People will always have something bad to say no matter how good something is. In fact the better something is the more trivial their complaint is. Sadly they will always make a huge deal over nothing. And as far as "I paid my 60 dollars and they only give me this s***" You paid 60 for oblivion too.....and you will most likely pay 60 for TES6. You will keep buyimg the games just to have something to complain about.

A little less than four hours to go and then I can see it all for myself. I spent most of today watching Gamepots Skyrim marathon. I loved it. The only disappointment was the video was pretty low rez. Still, I enjoyed it a lot.

I will miss spell creation, that was something I really enjoyed in Oblivion. On the other hand we get Shouts and I get the impression they can be combined for varying effects. Am I wrong about that?

I remember when I had so much free time that I could wait for a game and get impatient. I paid for the game already, but, being in the Navy, I work 14 hours a day and currently have 2 hours of to/from commuting, so I'm gonna have to wait till my one day off to play this game. I've become indifferent after how awful Oblivion was. I already know Skyrim won't have the same magic that Daggerfall and Morrowind had. The devs sold out and don't have the passion required to make a masterpiece like the original 3 TES games. Just please let this game be better than Oblivion. I don't know if I could take another TES game THAT disappointing. A little [censored]tyness here and there will be tolerable at this point. Bethesda is past its prime. We all just need to accept that or we're going to be let down over and over until they stop making TES games. Enjoy it for what it is.

There's a few trolls running around whining that have ruined actual well thought out complaints. :sadvaultboy:

Strange that people are saying that about the mouse in menus, its just not true! Mouse and scroll-wheel work in all menus I have tried, including the constellation/level up interface! Why are people saying the opposite?

Only things I would change are the health re-gen, and more shadows/ambient occlusion. But stepping into Skyrim really does feel like coming home..

How fast/slow is the health regen? Once I got a perk for it in fallout new vegas it was barely noticeable so if its like that then fine.

Btw before anyone whos tries to tell me beth didnt make...blah blah blah I already know.

Well thats good, then they shouldn't be complaining.

And yeah health re-gen....just what were they thinking...Isn't that what restoration and health potions are for?

This is a matter of opinion. Universally, the TES games are considered to be getting even better. Sales-wise, reviews-wise, pretty much all around. I think TES games are evolving into a legendary series, they are getting better.

Most people weren't disappointed by Oblivion btw... :P

I havent played yet but from the reviews I've read all my criticisms stand true.

-precipitation going through solid objects
-some choppy animations
-lack of reaction to many attacks
-lack of locational damage
-NO FIRST PERSON HORSERIDING! (it sounds dumb but i really loved this)
-physics is meh

But honestly I am really excited and I dont care about those at all (though I still hope for fixes/addons) :)
