[WIPz] Skyrim XP

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 9:41 pm

I have a last few questions. How soon will you release? Are you planing an "closed betta" and then final release, or no? When you`ll start gathering testers? Am i annoying?
P.S. Sorry if some of these has been answered before. I just hate to read all posts.
P.S.S. oh and one more, can you help me to figure out what form affects perk points gain per level.

No idea when this will be available for release. I'm waiting on some SKSE functions. I'm also waiting for the updates to settle down from Bethesda since this will depend quite heavily on SKSE.

I will release it as an open beta for those that are willing to check it out early. I plan on doing it such that it functions just fine, but it's of limited utility. Once I'm sure it will work with players' setups, then I'll add the rest of the functionality.

No, you're not annoying. Not yet anyway.

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=1175 allows you to tweak the number of perk points you gain per level - why don't you check her plugin out? I haven't looked into the perk points yet.

Hmmm...is anyone going to post something here? Just paying attention. I`m checking this page few times per day. BTW, AndalayBay, thanks for advise on uncapper. Though i dont fully understand all forms, and dont realy need any uncapping past 100. Can you provide any news? I`m awaiting your mod patiently. Keep up working. And provide some news too

Drake, no news yet. Just wait! I'm not even going to start coding until the new version of SKSE is released with the Papyrus functions I need. They are currently working on them. Once I have some progress to report, I'll report it in this thread.

Unfortunately not. :( I'm still waiting for the needed functions in SKSE. There is a beta of SKSE out now and I've been working with that. I also saw another thread that says you can't do custom menus and interact with them from Papyrus, so that will require new SKSE functions too.

So, I'm top of the developments in SKSE and will continue to work on that. As soon as I can, I will get started on this. :)

The author pulled it when I asked him to rename his mod. When he heard I was working on Skyrim XP, he decided to just remove his instead.

This was one of the Oblivion mods I'd hoped would influence Skyrim most, glad to see it return and hopefully in the next TES they'll take the hint and rid themselves of their awful leveling system for something more like this.

I doubt it. The leveling system is very identifiably TES, and many people find it superior to XP.

Obviously, not everyone agrees (like us who follow this thread :P), but that's why mods are awesome. They allow catering to minority demographics.

I think the skill-improves-with use paradigm is perfectly fine in a game with an unleveled world. In a game with a leveled world, it requires a lot of care to not do it wrong and level "too much" off of the "wrong skills", which is pretty counter-intuitive.

Anywho, I'm sending good mental vibes to the SKSE team so Andalay can get going with this...it's a mod I really enjoyed for Oblivion.

So he removed the mod even though no work has been done on this mod? He should have kept going.

His mod was completely different and not a port of Oblivion XP, so we asked him to rename his mod. I think it had some bugs as well, so he decided to wait and see what Skyrim XP has to offer.

Good to see this is coming back. One of my mandatory mods for Oblivion. While Skyrims leveling system is more...playable I suppose, it still needs work.

Thats why he should have kept going. I wanted to contact him, I could not find anyway of contacting him from Nexus.
