Love the UI so far and the Icons. Keep up the great work.

Agreed, don't listen to all these people talking negative! :)

Once you guys finish the inventory, I suggest go ahead and releasing it. Then update the rest as you go =P

Have you guys also added categories to chests?

I mean, my chest in my house takes 5 minutes to scroll from bottom to top, it's impossible to find anything I want.
There's an skse plugin available that can do this http://mod.gib.me/skyrim/skse/container_categorization_1_1.zip
You'll have to get skse for it to work of course http://skse.silverlock.org/download/skse_1_01_00.7z

Isn't that Bethesdas mantra? ;)

I know you want it and so do I want a better UI, but it's probably best they develop it as best they can beforehand instead of releasing something that needs fixing later down the line.

Just want to be clear, Gribs just put input in on the discussion, he's not working on SkyUI. Kratos, snak, Gopher, and I are officially on the Team.

Furthermore, I have not played or bought Skyrim yet. I will purchase and play it in December. Money permitting. Still nice I can mod for it though.

I think the icons match the UI, they're very sleek and crisp.
Will you guys be adding a grid view option?

Progress update:
https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/ir0tSjYbOtxTP3IoJ2kaxtMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=directlink
- Added icons for different weapon types (will require Gibbed's SKSE plugin)
- Greyed out non-active category icons and made the indicator a little prettier
- Finally fixed item card visibility (before it was only shown after you first manually selected a category), and a few other bugs
(- oh, and the icons are now in a shared .swf)

If the icons tell me what I need to know, and don't get in the way, they're perfect! These do the job admirably.

Hoping to see values for reach and speed. Can't wait to try this out.

Looking great!

(any news on displaying weapons' other stats: damage speed, reach, etc.?)

You have some http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=667. It's quite good. (Blows away the vanilla version.) I'm looking forward to trying your mod upon release. I like your aesthetic. The font the other mod creator used in his or her images probably deterred many. However, when you install the mod your font doesn't change. It stays at your native setting. You won't have that issue. Your mod looks great in all the screens.

Beth could learn from both of these two modders. Great work. :)
The font is turning a lot of people off, he really should upload pics with the normal font. But either way his menu shows less items at once and just doesn't look polished(it looks like a mod, which is never good).

OP, can you shrink the font even more so you can get more stuff shown at once? I think right now about 18 items show at once(compared to about 14 for QD), perhaps a configurable ini setting(as some people may have a hard time seeing smaller fonts). I would like to see at least 25 items at once, at least.

The other concern I have regards the icons in a way, but has nothing to do with their design, but their placement next to every item. If I'm browsing the potions I don't need a potion bottle next to every item to tell me they're potions. It seems kind of odd to have those still included in any section but the 'all' and 'favorites' sections, and even then were it optional I'd turn it off there (I can see the point of them being there, though, so having that as an option shouldn't be any big concern).

To OP: This looks fantastic. I think that what you are hearing in this forum is mostly how anxious we are to get rid of the one part of Skyrim that really hurts the game. About the Icons, it took me a second to get used to it. It imparts a leisureliness to the UI. The current UI is extremely serious and dark. Thanks for your work, particularly for your unofficial SDK, that is music to my ears.

To evercharmer: I disagree. I like to have an obvious markers for small differences between weapon and armor types, potions and poisons etc.

Theoretically the menu supports any font size, but you still have to do some fine tuning to position all the icons at the right position so it still looks good.

It would be a good idea to make it just a bit smaller than the screen you posted earlier.
But if you are planning on adding enchantments to the inventory list, like Bow of Awesomeness and then underneath it +10% Bow Damage, then it can't be that small.

I'd think it would be simple to have a slider to let users choose the size.

This looks absolutely awesome. About the font, I would like something between two of the latest screenshots. The font size might be user definable in ini or something? Also would love similar magic menu, it's an equal pita to use the magic menu as the inventory.

Kenneth seems like a tosser who's doing everything for internet ego. He's not willing to help anyone else.

For that reason, I'm not downloading anything of his.

Thats awesome! Apprx 36 items at once, excellent. Only issue is the weight/value is too far to the right from the names now. If a grid view is not possible then this is what I would like to see, just tighten up the stats with the names and it would be perfect.

I just registered here to say a few words of support

The screenies I've seen so far are almost *exactly* how I wished the UI was. It's almost as if you had somehow read my (rather annoyed) mind when I first started playing Skyrim!

1. Equipping inventory items with single mouseclick
- We were thinking of changing this functionality to instead require 2 mouseclicks OR double-click. Our reason being is because sometimes you might misclick and accidentally use a potion that you didn't intend to use. Another reason is if you want to rotate an item's 3D object you literally have to move your mouse in a straight line into the 3D object area without hovering over another item. With the changed functionality, you could instead double-click or click once to select then click again to equip/use an item. Thoughts?

I don't know if this is any help, but in some perverse way I got used to the system in STALKER, where you right-click and choose drop/equip/reload from a little context menu that pops up. Mind you though, I should imagine that double-clicking is a bit more satisfying: same number of clicks, with no in-between mouse movement. Plus adding a context menu would likely be a complete ballache. I wouldn't want to do it. I hate making microsites etc. in Flash so you have my full sympathies.

Other than that I'm happy to keep my gob shut and let you guys get on with it! Reading this thread has really made my day...
