I'd bet they're getting the MW3 preload/midnight launch over with first, before switching on the Skyrim preload. The servers can only handle so much at once.

My thought as well. I don't think we'll see any preloading until Thursday mid-day for this reason.

Well, I know what I'm doing once every twenty minutes or so until preloads go up.

That wouldn't be long before unlocking, for me. Haha....guess I'll check every few hours all day Wed-Thurs. I'm definitely hoping for some opportunity to pre-load so I/we all don't have to try to DL one minute after unlock.

Yes. There will be more details on preloading Skyrim via Steam closer to release

From the pinned Faq above. So is there any info when the preload will be and isnt this close enough to release to let us know>?!?!?!

I'll be having an careful eye on this topic. I can't wait for the pre-load. This game is gonna own beyond hard.

Not that I saw anywhere.

I've held off on my Steam pre-order for other reasons but am holding off even further. I may just end up
putting in a quicky pre-order with Amazon as at this stage I'm not trusting STeam to deliver to me on the 11th.

I guess I'll make my mind up by later tonight. Still enough time for me to get in on the one day guarandamntee for
premier Amazon members.-

I'd rather go with Steam again this time as I don't give a rips butt about having a hard copy about, until they come
out with the heavily discounted game of the year or 5 year anniversary edition anyway. Of course, by then, it won't matter
as we all most likely be dead by the end of December, 2012.
Right?

Anyone have a clue if STEAM will let people who purchased it on their system Preload Skyrim so we can play it when it says we can (10 Nov 9pm for me)?

Pete Hines Twitter 13 hours ago :
@DCDeacon @JohannSebbyBach It's a go for preload, just isn't available yet. Pinged folks tonight to find out when it gets turned on.

Bethesda's twitter account in response to a question about the preload 13 hours ago :

@Bethblog @KenseanCrew hope to have an answer on that very soon

Still nothing half a day later. Don't know what is going on on Steam's end, but it looks like the issue is with them. Hope to see this come online soon, with my internet speed a digital download could take 2 days or more.

It's a shame, rly :(
Within Netherlands some Shops have broken the Rule and started selling the Game.
I can just hope that Bethesda now reacts and gives a "Go" for all other Shops, also Steam.
Only thing we can do is wait now :(

you can see prove here: http://kotaku.com/5857428/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-on-sale-now-in-the-netherlands

As noted earlier, the likely problem is COD:MW3 being released today on Steam, a game with a HUGE following that is probably crushing their content servers. I highly doubt they'll start letting Skyrim (another massively popular game) preload until that calms down or it would just be 2k per second downloads for everyone.

I only hope tomorrow is the deadline for preloading to start. It would be very stupid to push it further down the line when it's obvious a million people will overload steam's servers. Mods will have a hands full by thursday with all the merging of anti-steam threads, if this hasn't been carefully planned out, And I don't think it has, since even Pete doesn't appear to be well informed.

I also hope we'll get to pre-load the patched game, since throwing more people back in the queue to patch the game right after the game files are downloaded will make things even worse.

Amen. I will be torqued if the game unlocks and then pops open a window telling me I have to wait to play the game until after it downloads a huge patch (Especially if that patch is in the order of Gigabytes). Unfortunately, I think this is exactly what is going to happen.

I'm tempted to Tweet Pete again and ask if he discovered anything. He is saying he is traveling to LA for a Skyrim Party. Maybe this is an indication of the preload going up tonight?

My guess is 9 PM PST tonight.

All the rumors I've heard so far state that the preload starts 11/9 (tomorrow).

So let's wait and see.

One more question to anyone that has preloaded from Steam before...

Do you need to have pre-ordered and paid for the game in order to see the pre-load option?

According to Pete Hines there is a go for preloading. However apparently noone has communicated this to steam yet?

Could you guys please make your phone calls and get us started?

Thanks.

Your title gives the impression that there won't be a pre-load. There is still 2 and a half days till release, people need to just chill out. I have to wait till the afternoon to play it.

Petes tweet said that everything is ready to go, and that he will let us know when it will be turned on. I'm sure it will be soon.

he sais "its a go for preload".

if its a "go" that means they can call steam and let them activate it.
