Mine are like that too. Seems like we won't be editting the ini files. Unless when the game first runs it decrypts them.

Cant you force a preload by running the appropriate AppID?

It's a little bit of excitement now, but we still have to sit and look at the useless icon on our desktop until unlock time, which is going to make the last bit of waiting seem twice as long because it will be taunting us!!!

Pre-load is a bit of a tease. Granted, it makes things easier, but it's like, "holy [censored], skyrim's going on my computer right now!" But I can't play it until Friday. By which I mean Thursday night. Anyway, I have a feeling time will run even slower now.

Even living in Japan, I decided to buy the game on Steam anyway, I'll try to activate the game via VPN on 11/11/11.

I was not expecting to be able to preload the game just now, but for my surprise, not only I was able to do it, but I downloaded at blazing speeds, very few times I saw my 200MB fiber optic connection work at full power.

when Steam pre-loads, does it actually show you the files in the program files/steam/steamapps/Skyrim folder?

Found out my local store isn't doing a midnight launch for Skyrim, and they open at 9am so I can pick up my preorder then (it's the collectors edition, all paid for)

If it were me, I'd wait. Then again, I'm cheap. Seriously though, just go to sleep early Thursday night, then get up and meander (read: drive like a maniac) on over to Gamestop to pick up your game. You can save $90 by sleeping like a sane person. To me, that sounds like a deal. But it's your money. Also, everyone on this forum isn't sane...
