I'd champion the Stormcloak cause for home rule and religious freedom if I didn't see them oppressing the people of the Reach. And if they didn't have Ulfric Stormcloak leading them. I do not trust the man, and find him to be a manipulative usurper.

The Empire is far from perfect, but I feel the people are better off with its resources (such as food, coin, and other goods) coming in on a regular basis.

Besides, while it's true the Empire allowed the Thalmor to march around its borders with complete freedom, they only started to really crack down on the Talos thing after the Markarth incident, something Ulfric played a huge role in.

With the recent happening's i'd side with a Independent Skyrim so yeah stormcloaks for me! The Empire has been in a steady decline since the Great War and it's high time the Cyrodiliic Empire fell! TES History shows the same pattern of upholding the policy of "All Empires Fall"

Imperial is the only true choice, Ulfrics a radical, could care less about other races plight. Does that mean I excuse the Empire for banning Talos, no but they are the better option over Ulfric.

Better option than Ulfric true! I hope in a later expansion we get to have a option to "replace" Ulfric as High King for those who chose the Stormcloak side :D

Empire. The only way the Thalmor will be defeated is through the unification of the races of men.

I kind of feel for the Stormcloaks, but they're getting nowhere with that leader.
I choose the Empire I guess, maybe because I'm more connected to them after Oblivion.

Yes. This is my main problem with the Stormcloaks. The soldiers are just civilians fighting for freedom of choice and living, but Ulfric is a selfish oppressor hunting the throne.

i thought the same way until someone reminded me about how the redguards halted the dominions march into hammerfell after the white gold concordant so no that is not a must to defeat the thalmor, granted it would make it easier.

The difference is that Hammerfell was united politically when they went against the Aldmeri Dominion. Skyrim has been ravaged by a civil war, so their military forces are going to take some time to rebuild, which leaves them vulnerable to an invasion.

Stormcloaks.

The fact that the empire can stand back while it's citizens are dragged off in the middle of the night to be tortured and killed should be too much to bear regardless of the circumstances.

Nords and others who fought and died in great numbers to remove the Thalmor from the imperial city return home to find they are at the mercy of the very group they fought to remove in the first place. The empire dishonoured all those that fell in those battles while selling the Reguards down the river when they signed that peace treaty.

Later, in 4E 171, the Thalmor invadedHammerfell and Cyrodiil after Titus Mede II rejected their Ultimatum. Aldmeri forces would push deep into both provinces, taking many cities, including the Imperial City. The Thalmor then faced their greatest defeat (later known as the Battle of the Red Ring), in which they lost all of their forces in Cyrodiil. Despite this, due mainly to the exhaustion of the Imperial Legions, the Great War ended with the White-Gold Concordat, which resulted in Talos worship being outlawed in the Empire and a significant portion of southern Hammerfell becoming part of the Dominion. However, Hammerfell rejected the treaty and left the Empire, continuing to fight the Thalmor until 4E 180, when the Second Treaty of Stros M'kai was signed by both sides, resulting in the Aldmeri forces pulling out of Hammerfell and a territorial status quo.

Hammerfell was only able to push back the Thalmor because the Dominion was already weakened after the Battle of the Red Ring.

If I remember right after the White-Gold Concordate many people still secretly worshipped Talos and the Empire was fine with that. Until Ulfric made a mess.

Besides the Empire is slowly growing in strength to strike back again. Just listen what General Tullius says about their future plans. Sometimes to reach a greater goal You need to stand aside and wait for the right moment.

I never grow tired of repeating: Empire. They are the only thing that keeps the Thalmor away from invading Skyrim. Also, some officials may be corrupt, but the Empire itself isn′t. Furthermore, the Stormcloaks are just ****, aehm, insolent peasants.

Stormcloaks are no more racist than any other Nords. Since Nords are in the imperial legion, that issue is moot. It's more like nationalism vs. imperialism.

I can see the imperial propaganda machine about Ulfric is quite effective. For instance- it's kind of funny that someone would blame Ulfric for how the Reachmen are treated, and not the imperials who used him to retake Markarth and hold the Reach as of game time.

I generally think the Empire is the better choice, though it is far from a clearcut situation.

Anyone sitting on a throne is selfish and power hungry great empires are not carved out by nice people.
