Subway trademarks the word "Footlong"

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:50 am

Or maybe hes referring to his [censored].

EDIT:
The proper word for male gentials is censored WTF

Way to un-subtle the humor there, bub.
:P

They will need to come up with a new descriptor for long sandwiches. The Forearm?

Also, there is something about this that seems like it's probably not for real.

They'll just call it the heel to toe sandwich.

This is reminiscent of the time when The Donald wanted to trademark the term "You're Fired!" :P

I'll just say "Foot long", then.

Maude Flanders: Neddy, I've had about all I can take of Homer Simpson's torso. I'll get some hot dogs.
Ned Flanders: No foot-longs!
Maude Flanders: I know, they make you uncomfortable.

It's not corporate stupidity, it's human greed, plain and simple. Every possible way for people to make money, they do.

Would you do any different? Honestly? Honestly? I know I'd be trying to do the exact same thing.

It's funny, sure. But I'd try it. What's the harm in trying? Fail, and look like an idiot. Succeed, and look like an idiot but have money. And I don't care what other people think, especially if I run a large sandwich chain anyway

Yes, yes I WOULD do different. For one thing, I wouldn't trademark something like "footlong" that's so easy to get around (foot long, foot-long).

I find it terribly hard to get around a footlong.

I suppose a lot of us would really like for a nice, big footlong to be put inside Subway's mouth.

Footlongs are awkward to hold anyway. I prefer a smaller size.

Maybe I just don't have faith in humanity, but give people a taste of the rich life, then tell them there's a way to get even richer, and I think they'll do it.

Also, the subtlety in this thread is killing me. Oh. Wait. Did I just ruin it?

Maybe the power would consume me. I don't know if I'd mind.

I'm no lawyer, but I'm pretty sure the word "footlong" and the description "a foot long" are legally two different things. Places can still sell sandwiches that are described as being a foot long, as long as they aren't called simply a footlong.

They wouldn't be the first to lie about the size of their 'sandwich'.

In this highly consumerist culture I don't blame them, but in my opinion, we are all stupid. We meaning them of course.
