Subway trademarks the word "Footlong"

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:32 pm

In this highly consumerist culture I don't blame them, but in my opinion, we are all stupid. We meaning them of course.

If we are them, doesn't that make them us?

Would you do any different? Honestly? Honestly? I know I'd be trying to do the exact same thing.

Would you be so cruel as to deprive raithen of the ability to accurately state the length of his... sandwich?

Has anybody else tried reading the innuendos at face value? As in, not as innuendos? They actually make sense.

I would do it, besides if his sandwich really is a footlong, than he can be like subway and say it's 13 inches, effectively being the bakers dozen of inches.

The world has officially gone mad as the Subway restorants have trademarked the worrd "Footlong" when it is used in combination with a sandwich. :brokencomputer:

Does that trademark apply only within the USA or is it worldwide?

I was mildly afraid when I found out that Microsoft had patented Page Up and Page Down and that Apple had patented certain finger motions on touch screen meaning certain things (don't ask, Google it up), but then I found out that none of that crap applies within Europe so I don't give a damn. :foodndrink:

It's only a matter of time.

Hold on a second, let me go buy a ticket to Europe.

Also, the subtlety in this thread is killing me. Oh. Wait. Did I just ruin it?

What subtlety? I thought it was all pretty obvious .

Has anybody else tried reading the innuendos at face value? As in, not as innuendos? They actually make sense.

They're mostly double entendres, so that's to be expected.

I know, I'm just used to the innuendo users on this forum being just a few steps away from blatantly talking about six.

The footlong only exists in the matrix, so Subway can keep sending those cease-and-desist letters for all I care as I will continue enjoying footlongs whenever I please.

Urgh. I still can't accept the fact that corporations are allowed to do this. It's insane. It's not as if their R&D came up with the product and name. Bah, says I.

I'm sorry to say but you now owe me 25 cents since I trademarked "Bah" a few years ago.

:P

One moment. *Goes off to trademark the whole damn alphabet. Numerals, too.* You can deduct that from the bill I'll send ya after this goes thru... :frog:
