Yes she is a vampire you can confirm it by using detect dead, or by her saying over and over "Skyrim is ours Skyrim is ours hahahahah, we will block out the sun" besides that the neon glowing eyes, and fangs it's hardly noticeable.

She didn't have anything like this in the original game. I think ALL vampires get this make-over.

Which really svcks, because it was a secret that she was a vampire before. I actually never knew until reading it on the UESP.

I really think that Bethesda should have made her a Cyrodiilic Vampire and member of the Order. An immortal court mage, serving the pro-Imperial side of Skyrim during the Civil War, acting as an advisor to the possible High Queen. Sounds like the perfect position for the Order to be able to infiltrate Skyrim.

It actually wasn't really a secret. Some characters would hint that there was something wrong with her, or that her behavior was highly suspicious. You could even comment on how she's 80 years old (give or take some years) yet she still looks young. She even sends you off on a quest to kill vampires, and implies that your character would probably be dead because vampires are superior. The quest alone is clue enough that somethings not right with her since the vampires are out in a cave far away from Solitude, but vampires are killing people in Solitude. Chances are likely the vampires in the cave are not doing it, but the vampire(s) in Solitude are...

It's a secret to the general public, but I think everyone important in the Jarl's court knows what's really going on.

It's doubtful, but like I said I think the Jarl's court already know she's a vampire.

I wonder if Sybille's face changes with Dawnguard installed. If it does, it would be quite odd seeing the housecarl not giving a damn about her then.

Alva was turned by Movarth. Movarth was turned by a Cyrodillic vampire, thus everyone that he turns will have the Cyrodillic strain.

It'd be nice if you could catch the Cyrodiilic strain from the vampires in Morthal. And I still think Sybil should be part of the Order.

I thought I'd try get the normal Vampire disease, so I went to start the Laid to Rest quest, I noticed that Laelette looked so much different, like Volkhihar Vamps. I messed around until I contracted the disease from her. Waited a few days and after turning into a Vamp that way, I looked exactly the same as I did when I was Vampire Lord - no difference at all.

Yeah - dopey me! I never paid much attention to her eyes before. Generally NPS in courts are only of interest in quest related conversations. Sybille did had some of the better pvssyr I will say. yes can be so weird in Skyrim, i honestly never paid attention, I also confess to relying on the HUD telling me who's next in line for a fight. Makes me wonder if all the courts have a vamp somewhere.

Yep. Rather than having 3 different strains of Vampirism to choose from (Cyrodiilic, Lore-Volkihar, and the new Vampire Lords), each with their own unique abilities and playstyles, Bethesda opted to go with one type of vampire, but give you the option of either being just a basic one, or the same one with the ability to transform, apparently not realizing that the ability to transform being the only difference between the two of them made the version that couldn't transform completely redundant and pointless.

I really wish Bethesda would explain this design choice, because it's by far the most baffling decision I've heard about in this DLC.

Hehe, no problem. )))

And yeah, with this DLC, it's now kinda pointless being a normal Vampire, I mean, you don't *have* to switch to VL form, but being a VL offers more benefits now than the norm Vamp, and with them both looking the same (when not in VL form) there really isn't anything so great about becoming a normal Vampire. -.-"

Exactly. Political intrigue and better vampires than the Volkihar. I thought Sybille was a vampire of the Order when Skyrim first came out, but Bethesda screwed it up again by making here one of Harkon's bugaboos. How stupid are the people in Skyrim to allow a woman with glowing eyes and fangs hang around the palace near the Queen? Ridiculous!
