It's a horrible thing, but I believe it's human nature for us to beat down on the things smaller than us. Stuff like this happens everyday, all around the world and I really don't think it's going to stop.

Well, I have suffered through it. I'll admit during middle school I was heavily bullied, I was pushed to the edge. That edge being suicide, I took the steps to stop it non-violently and that didn't work, so now I don't suffer though bulling anymore because when you [censored] up a kid, a rare few will mess with you. Then when those rare few get there smaller because one of them is thrown threw a window and had a arm broken. Will let's just say, I don't suffer it any more. Bullying is a terrible thing and pushes people to do stupid things. I went through my middle school life hating it, never enjoying, my only grasp of happiness laying at my home where I was constantly breaking down. Middle School is the worst time for it, your going threw changes that will affect you for the rest of your life and then you have to deal with a kid who has problems.

Bullying thankfully now is against the law and you can press charges against the person if you so choose. That has hopefully stopped some of it, but it is human nature to take our problems out on other people. My heart goes out to the Seniors family.

Those are usually a retaliation of bullying, ie. Columbine and Virginia Tech shootings.

Snip
I was bullied heavily in Middle School as well, about something beyond my control, me being German, I was the "Nazi Child" of the school. It was awful, I now understand what racism feels like, regards to the family.

Bullying is mostly harmless. It's a natural fact of life these days and nothing will change that. If it's getting to you, especially enough to commit suicide, you should be seeking help.

I used to blame bullying for my loner attitude, but ultimately it's my reaction to bullying that caused it. I can't blame others.

I think it's way too easy to blame these sorts of issues on human nature and leave it at that. I don't think it's impossible to foster an environment where bullying is minimal, it just takes counselors and teachers who know how to recognize and diffuse these sorts of things.

The approach my school has towards bullying is: "Just ignore it. It'll work itself out." We've had at least one suicide every year for the past 4 years.

During middle school it's harder then you think. Puberty causes many emotions and your hormones are doing stupid [censored].

Then you'd have to shave your feet. Trust me, it's not worth it.

While bullying is mostly harmless, but when 3/4 of a school is participating in the act, it is a MAJOR problem.

And it should be brought to the school's and parent's attention. That's part of seeking help.

Well, if that's part of seeking help I sure as hell did a lot of it. My school was completely incompetent when it came to dealing with bullies.

Yesman, that svcks. I was bullied because I was a chubby kid. I didn't ever react to it.

You ask me, a student who fights back shouldn't be punished more than the bully. The fact a lot of the staff at my schools let bullying slide and punished those who dared to fight back sickens me greatly.

I've been bullied, and I can say with the utmost confidence that school employees are the worst at handling it.

Broke all ties in my home town, and made brothers in college. Life is vastly better after HS.

I never understood most of the punishment at my old school, when people resist the problem they were punished frequently, it was bull(censored)

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/23/phillip-parker-gay-tennessee-teen-suicide_n_1223688.html or any of the other countless victims of bullying. Yes, they took their own lives, the bullies didn't make them do it. But either way, it's still unethical to allow bullying to happen.

I used to get bullied a lot in middle school. I live in a "Hick Town" and back in middle school I was in with the "Skater" group. Long hair, skinny jeans, checkered belts, the whole nine yards. I was constantly pushed around and called a "[censored]" by the more country and southern kids just because I had long hair and wore skinny jeans. I was bullied from about 6th grade to about mid way through 8th. I finally figured out that the only way to make them stop was to make sure what they said didn't effect me on the outside or in my head. That and beating the snot out of a few kids solved my problem.

I've since moved on from the "Skater" fad that was popular when I was in middle school, and I don't miss it at all. Normal jeans are much more comfortable, and short hair is easier to run track with.

I got in a small fight with an idiot kid in 6th grade. It was mostly just grappling and pushing, no punches. Luckily our principal was an idiot and I was a good student.

I was taking tae kwon do classes at the time, I think probably a black belt by that point (which wasn't much of an accomplishment where I learned it). The principal knew that and, being an idiot, thought I was being gracious by not killing the kid with a well-placed punch or something. So he let me slide.

Bullying can be harmless. But some bullies go further than others. I had one that lived in my neighborhood and he went to my school. He stalked me and said I was the stalker.

My middle school principal said to my mother on the phone, "That kid got what he deserved." Of course this is after they couldn't solve it.
