TESV Acceleration Layer, thread 4

Alexander Blade has made a c++ version of this available. So there are now 2 alternatives for this feature/mod. His is called Sky Boost.
Thank you, I'd like to run a comparison, do you have a link to Sky boost?

I know you do. I should have posted the link when I described what it does but I was still waking up.

Tested both... SkyBoost provides more fps but I am experiencing frequent stutter... with TESVAL lower fps but not to far off from SkyBoost but don't experience stutters... I guess I'll go with TESVAL for now

My specs are, C2Q9400 2.6Ghz, GTX 260, 4G RAM, Windows 7 64 bit

I think the main reason Alex threw his hat in here was to provide a working version for Win 8 users. TESVAL apparently doesn't work with Win8.

You are correct Worm. We have noted that and are urging the beta users to report this to the windows 8 developers. The issue is on their end and they need to know about it. They cannot fix an issue if they don't know it exists.

This mod's great I got a decent increase overall with my current rig, look in my Sig. How ever I've been noticing a trend in that Intel CPUs seem to have a more significant increase ? I'm wondering *I'm not a coder so not sure* if its possible to make 2 different versions (Intel & AMD) that way everyone can get the best out of it depending on there CPU setup, this is just an idea that I think if possible should be looked into . This is just my 2 cents ofc lols.

This game is seriously flawed, after I got out of Helden, I tried getting more FPS by turning down graphical settings and nothing I did would improve my FPS. I mean, I disabled all forms of AA, AF, I even made the resolution 1280x1024 just for the sake of testing (down from 1920x1200) and I could not get a FPS boost. What is wrong with this game?

Your GPU is clearly not the bottleneck. What's your hardware?

It's always we want more FPS! And we want more FPS now!

This mod is doing very well at the nexus, it's consistently in the hot files front page and on the way to 1000 endorsemants.

Well my CPU is @ 4.5GHZ, there is nothing else to do.

That doesn't mean much if you only have two cores.

generally when someone asks what your hardware is you tell them like so:

AMD Phenom II x6 1100T 3.3Gh
AMD HD 6850 1GB 820mhrtz core/1100mghrtz mem
8 GB DDR3 1600

Skyboost VS tesval:

Vanilla (36 fps):

TESVAL (47.3 fps):

SkyBoost (47.5 fps):
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/14/tesv20111226200255557.jpg/

No difference for me, maybe a bit of stuttering with skyboost, but I can't be so sure about it...

Sorry about that

Intel 2500k @ 4.5GHz
Nvidia GTX 580 @ 865 core/ 2175 mem
8GB DDR3 1600

Is there anything I could do? I'm already using the mod and I monitored the GPU usage in a certain scene where toning down graphical options did not improve FPS and GPU usage peaked at 76%.

thats mostly because AMD processors do not even have 3/4 of the IPC of their similarly priced Intel competition.

What was your FPS prior to this? If it was around 60, that's due to vsync. You'll have to turn it off to get more, but I really don't see why you'd need more than 60 FPS...

Based on your specs, you shouldn't be having FPS issues, aside from the normal CPU death traps. Pretty much everyone lags there. I run Skyrim fine mostly maxed out at 1080p on a significantly inferior rig (Quad core Phenom II @ 3.2GHz & GTX 470). Only time I lag is at the CPU death traps.

Compatibility has been covered plenty of times in this thread if you spent the time reading it instead of just demanding that everybody drop what they were doing and rush to your aid.

Why force users to search through bazillions of posts, if the developer could just have posted this little information in the first post of this thread?

People here are volunteering to do free work for the community. Very lame of you to bash people here. If i can help with anything just ask again and i'll pay more attention and try to help out.

It's very lame of you to come up with the "people spend free time on this" argument and forget to mention that I am the user and he is the developer...is a decent documentation to much to ask for? As a Mod developer myself, who also spends "free time", I'd say no.

I am reporting and seeking to have topics that are off topic, argumentative and such removed. Remember to keep this civil and on topic. The subjects currently are TESVAL, supporting TESVAL and where relevant Sky Boost by Alexander Blade.

If you are getting no difference in FPS between high and low settings, then I'd say your graphics card drivers are not installed correctly or not at all, I cannot see how it's possible to see no difference in FPS between low and high settings, unless of course you are already running at 60+ fps and consider that to be slow.

With that setup you should easily be tac'n 60fps on high to ultra. I'm pulling 25-55 on high to ultra myself.

two questions:

Are you expecting more than 60fps with vsync enabled?

Did you make any changes to Skyrim.ini that you haven't reversed? Changing the graphics setting in game only alters the SkyrimPrefs.ini.

This guy needs to go to the PC subforum cause obviously his config is messed and will get no benefit from this mod till then,

But I don't think this mod will be necessary for too long. Bethesda cannot ignore this mod and what it does, not with the percentages people are reporting.

My bet is that when they come back from holiday break, they integrate this into patch 1.4.
