The Comprehensive ESO Mechanics thread, 100% Sourced Informa

Your Sun-Strike is incorrect, and don't forget Sun-Fire has a chance to snare (and that Rushed Ceremony is an AoE multiple person heal)

Sun-Strike is a melee attack (magicka based last i heard, surprisingly) that after the attack hits it applies an HoT on you...

One of my bugbears about game forums is that whenever information is given out they never link it on their own website! It doesn't make sense.

I edited my space on public dungeon (I think I did at least) and I will continually be updating that area once I've got a whole collection of podcasts and interviews, so we get a very broad idea on how these dungeons do exactly work.

I'll give link a look at later when I get the chance to. Runes in most games are usually slots items you can attach to your items.

I believe that it was also in the Matt Firor interview with MMOHut that he also confirmed there will be an online trading post. I'm going to go back through all of my sources eventually to make sure all of the information is accurate, and in case I've missed anything out.

In other news; Have you heard of Morphing? It's a mechanic Paul Sage has mentioned a lot. From what I've read so far, you level your weapon talents which have their own skill tree. Then, I believe, your abilities level up and have their own skill tree, which is reliant on your weapon talent skill. These abilities eventually have their skill tree "Branch outwards" where you can customize the mechanics of the skill.

It's still pretty rough because a lot of the interviews worded it much differently from each other, but if anyone could find more information about skills, abilities and levelling of perks, skills, skill customisation, anything hinting towards skill customisation or places where the term "morph" or "morphing" has been used, could you please link it here?

I'm working on a complete overhaul on the abilities and skill mechanics section at the moment also, and going to make the PvP section more presentable.

Also, tab-targeting WILL be in ESO still. In an interview from I believe the 27th of January 201 (Source 20) Paul Sage said there will be a tool which helps with your aiming. This is hinting towards how the tab-targeting mechanic works, which is more of a helping tool, rather than an actual "lock-on".

Yup I'm working on this now. I just wanted to get the information out as fast as I could and completely forgot about sourcing

This should be required reading before anyone can make a comment about the game. Im so sick of reading tons of posts around the web by ignorant fools saying "this will just be another WOW clone, blah blah blah" keep up the great work and research.

I've linked this thread in my signature because I think its the best source of information of the game condensed into one area.

Oh, also, can we get an update with the trinity? Here's a source that confirms it:

Thanks! I knew I was missing something very important.

Soul Gems. Now that's interesting. Pretty much confirms that Enchantments will use the same mechanics TES games. This also semi-confirms that one enchantment will be Soul-Leech. I'll get working for another thread update for Monday.

Edit: That link mentions that weapons DO in fact level up... So we get the Weapons that Level up. Then we level up weapon talents. Then we get new abilities and skills which we can level up. Then each skill and ability can "morph"? Mhm...Until I've found an interview with a developer specifically saying that our weapons level up, I'm not adding it. It doesn't fit in with the other sources I've read. I'll give another watch/read to my sources later also.

In fact, every source regarding character levelling is worded differently and misleading from what I can remember.

That article Bluesnacks linked also says that player housing is definitely coming after launch, and is a "priority" of the devs. I don't know if thats well known or not, but until I read that I was just assuming housing would be added later.

Some of it should probably be taken with a grain of salt!

Though I did like the mention of a "Morality System." That was new to hear!

I saw that interview around 3-4 nights ago, the one you posted in the Favourite Developer thread.

Yeah, maybe weapons do level up, as well as characters having their own talent progression tree with weapon types. It just seems like a lot of effort.

Once you've found a "potential" upgrade, our current weapons will nearly always be low-leveled variants until you've got end-game gear. That leveled Elven Sword I've kept for a while may be much stronger than a newly-fresh Ebony Sword, resulting in you never really "finding" an upgrade. You'll always have to go back down in Power/DPS until your new weapon is leveled, which I assume many people would hate.

I completely missed that part. Thanks! I'll add it into the thread soon.

EDIT:

I've found a very good image of the Red/Yellow Hostile colouring I mentioned in the thread. This mob is red, in other words he's hostile. If he were yellow, he'd be "neutral" as the source said.

Edit 2: Found Criminality coming after launch also
http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/821/feature/6821/Stuff-We-Didnt-Play-PVP-and-Social-Integration.html

Edit 3: Both links indicate weapons and armour can level up and have their own perks (oh my...). On top of that, we can also upgrade our weapons through crafting (I read/heard it somewhere, I'll get the link eventually). Then we get skills, which also have their own perks system. It sort of ties in with some of the stuff the developers have mentioned in other places. I think I'll get working on this today (Monday)

Also found this video with Maria mentioning it slightly more clearly

Character progression in ESO is going to be flogging huge.
