The redguards voice.

The thing is while I guess you're right on the fantasy part. Atleast they could do some compromise. (like some of them have white/ non african accents with good explanation and the rest have some Arab/ African accents.

With the voice consistency I totally agree; they have to put a permanent voice to the races instead of changing em.

In the other hand I don't want all the character to sounds the race they are inspired by.

they give nords germanic and nothern european accents so why not give redgaurds african or african american accents, im getting sick the political correctness in these forms. ITS NOT RACIST!! the redgaurds are black/african inspired why the hell shouldnt they have black/african voices??

As someone who is both knowledgable of Redguard lore and an African himself I think I'm qualified to respond to this:

Like most elder scrolls races, redguards are superficially based off of a real life culture. While they diverge in many ways, Redguards are, at their core, a fusion of african / arab cultures. Everything from their language, which is a cross between african and arab sounding words (Hoonding, Alikir, Yokuda, Ansei, I even saw a name in a book that literally translated to something arabic) to their clothing, and their facial structure are based off of these two cultures. Now consider this:

The games Redguard, Morrowind, and Oblivion all used an African voice actor. It wasn't anything offensive, you could just tell by the sound of his vocal cords.

Many races have distinct accents in this game. Redguards could easily have been given an african / arab accent.

I'm pretty sure some of the orcs have black voice actors. How is that less offensive than giving black people black voice actors?

And I want Nords to sound Canadian because they're white.

But seriously, I understand Hammerfell's culture may be similar to Arabic or African culture, but an individual's voice cannot be determined by their culture's homeland. In fact, many Redguards throughout Skyrim were born and raised in Skyrim, which means their accent reflects upon where they were born and raised and not by their racial homeland.

However many Nords had a norther European accent. If that's the case should the redguards have the same accent as well? I mean I can understand if they are voice acted by Nordic/ germanic people ect they are instead voiced by northern white Americans...

I do believe they should have the same accent, but obviously with somewhat of a variety, in which we can all agree on is lacking.

Nobody can speak a color. It's how and where you're raised.

And anyway this is pointless. Redgaurds are from Nirn, not Earth.

I guess maybe atleast have some with a more nordic accent while the rest have the arabian/native african accent.

I personally miss Michael Mack, I wish he played a part in some of the Redguards in Skyrim.

Forgive me if we aren't allowed to go here, but there are real world reasons as to why they make their development decisions. I think that it shouldn't be entirely ruled out that multicultural & egalitrian influence could also have a part to play, as in maybe to combat stereotypes.

The BEST Redguard voices were in the game Redguard. Also, that game had the best dialogue and voice acting in all of TES.

The voice actors in this game are all recycled regardless of race. I've heard the same voice coming out of a Bosmer, Nord, Imperial, Dark Elf, Breton and Redguard (Jason Marsden). Too bad there wasn't a little more specificity as to what voice was going to be assigned to what race.

And that's probably because It was more of an action/adventure game than an RPG unlike the other games..

I do agree that certain races seem to have recycled actors but I don't see the Nords northern European actors voicing an imperial. Or is it?

And yet, some of the Nords have an Austrian-"Ahnuld" accent, while none of the other races have said accent. Combat stereotypes my ass.

Yes, it was an action adventure rpg game. There were rumors back then that the reason why Beth decided to venture into this genre(action/adventure) was because Tomb Raider was big back then.

I didn't say that multiculturalism or egalitarianism was fair. >.>
I was insinuating that they thought it would be benificial to help integrate their Redguards into acceptance, and that it was related to the real world.

Plus Skyrim was about Nords & based on Nordic crap. So I think Nords got the emphasis on culture in Skyrim.

Edit: People like to think that mixed races are cute. i.e. I want to make a black Nord or a White Redguard or an Argonian with mammalian briasts. Making Redguards talk like Anglo Saxons helps ease that into the game subliminally as well as probably having an effect on people who play the game along the lines of helping people think that not all blacks sound like Samuel L. Jackson.

Just speculation.

First guy I met after leaving Helgen was the rude Redguard you can find on your travels. Big, tough bloke. Spoke to him and was met with a posh British accent. myfacewhen.jpg.

Then when I beat him, he said 'I cannot best you', so I stopped fighting. Then he got up and started fighting me again. Not the best start to a game, though things improved dramatically when I got to Riverwood.

So yeah, racist as it is, I do miss having a deeper tone to the Redguards, or just something to differentiate them from the Bretons, Bosmer, Dunmer, etc.
