The Skyrim Dead Is Dead Thread VI

I started the 3rd rendition of my namesake character, Lasskar Ice-Horn, for RP and DiD purposes. As of about 10:30 last night, he's at a blazing level 3!

(Playing on Adept difficulty for the time; I prefer to raise difficulty as the game starts becoming too hack-and-slashy.)

Lasskar Ice-Horn

Nord

2-Handed Warrior (Balancing other combat skills aside from his specialty: Archery, One-Handed, Block, Heavy Armor)

Born: 4E 170 (An estimate based on his appearance)

Died: TBD

Lasskar is from as small and isolated tribe of traditional Nords that have hidden themselves among the peaks of the Velothi Mountains. Very little is known about Lasskar, or his tribe at this point. He refuses to tell me anything about himself or where he's from other than an "I'm from the mountains" *Points towards Morrowind*. Lasskar is quiet and distrustful of newcomers, so it seems. I hope that through our adventures together, he will open up and tell me more about himself and the tribe that he comes from, and perhaps what brought him here to mainland Skyrim.

I would say they are all pretty close. For one reason or another, pending the playstyle. How ever, I would say that starting with any, and playing them against the grain and don't use the powers. With the exception of my Imperial Vampires, using the VoTE, I can count the number of times I have used the powers on both hands. That is out of 14 characters.
Yeah, I never seem to use the powers either. IIRC I have only used a power in battle once and that was with my current character to scare off a bear.

Seems interesting, I hope Lasskar opens up to you soon! I also usually start at adept and make my way up, providing I get that far.

I would never consider this playstyle myself, but I'm curious...do you guys play WHH (what happened happened) too? I mean for example, if your favorite horse or follower falls in battle, or you accidentally kill an NPC and their quest becomes unfinishable, do you carry on or reload?

I carry on and take it as a part of my character's life. For example if one of my character's followers died, then my character would mourn for the follower and maybe give the follower a good send off, but I would certainly not reload.

Just started a new DiD character. Thanks to a bunch of mods, this will be another great experience. I started as an imperial male called "Calgiu Acilius"

The most significant mods I'm using are: Immediate dragons. Deadly dragons. Imps more complex needs (need to eat, drink, sleep). Chesko's frostfall (snowy mountains freeze me to death if I'm outside too long), live another life-alternative start, potions heal over time (magicka and health), master difficulty (not a mod, but a "mode"), skyrim monster mod (adds new enemies that dont' scale with the player, but scale according to the area).
Edit: In addition, I set the player carryweight to 150 instead of 300. Plus, I'm using "BBB: Vendors", which means everything I sell only give half as much gold, while everything the shopkeepers sell to me cost twice as much.

I took random beginning with the alternative life, here's what happened during the first 10 minutes:
***

Calgiu Acilius awoke to the bright sunlight outside. He could hear his fellow bandit companions muttering about how they didn't have enough ale here at the outlook. None of them could do anything about it either, they all had a more or less sizeable bounty on their head. Calgiu himself was wanted for over 500 septims in the reach hold. Their current headquarter, the remotely located Four Skull Lookout had proven to be a great hide-out. They had clear vision for miles from the high place. It was time for them to do another sweep, grab and enter, for more supplies. Calgiu had one half a dozen apples left, one bottle of ale, two bottles of water and the last of their somewhat questionable salmon steak. They wouldn't survive long on this supply.

As Calgiu took a step outside, he heard panicked shouts from the redguard bandit. It seemed the damn forsworn from Red Eagle Redbound were charging into their camp. An archer was shooting from a far distance at them, while a brave (or crazy) reach woman came rushing at them, two wood-and-bone swords raised high above her head. Without hesitation, the four bandits readied themselves. The orc let out an arrow at the woman, staggering her, while Calgiu knocked her to the ground using his iron shield. The woman was dead in a matter of seconds, but the archer was nowhere to be seen. It seemed odd, but then the reason was clear. A blood-red scamp wielding an ethereal bound-sword ambushed them from behind a rock, killing the redguard instantly. Calgiu took a brave step forward, but was shot by electical magic by the scamp. He abandoned the plan and ran for cover and tried to heal himself the best he could with the limited magicka he had left. When he looked around the corner, all three of his friends were dead and the scamp hadn't even been scratched by their weapons! Instead of being a fool and fight the beast, Calgiu took a leap of faith as he jumped down from Four Skull Lookout and into the river far below...

for me, that's another great aspect of this style of gaming: i play through whatever happens in-game and live with all the consequences.

i have my other non-DiD pc's where i reload if something happens that i don't want or like.

Well damn. Calgiu Acilius died at level 2 (he leveled up to level 3 the very same second he died). Killed by a durzog, half way from markarth to whiterun, near the river, on the road...

update for Uruk gro-Ghorak, descendent of Urul gro-Ghorak and owner of Ghorak Manor.

after exploiting helgen i left the cave with following totals: level 15 1/2-h = 45 archery = 20 destruction = 25 sneak = 60 (master difficulty)

Uruk is an orc knight sent by his father to go to Narzulbur and deliver a sealed package to Chief Hauhulakh. Uruk has also been instructed to visit the chieftains of all the orc strongholds within Skyrim and deliver similar packages. Uruk has not been informed of the contents within the packages.

again, as a knight there will be no sneak attacks, assaults or theft. my primary goal is to get to ebony smithing asap so that i can forge the ebony blade that once belonged to Urul and has been passed down the generations. as well, the other family heirloom is the famed gold diamond sparkbolt ring that allows the user to cast the thunderbolt spell.

the perks will come from smithing, enchanting, speech, 2-h, heavy, block, restoration and destruction (thunderbolt only!)

i am playing on the 360 with the h.u.d. on the lightest setting so that i can barely see anything with no crosshair.

The armor mods I had picked out had a flaw, they were set for male only. This put a damper on my progress. I had to search for something that was, not only for female but was fitting for her character. Something I could see her wearing.

Femten decided to follow the Imperial into Riverwood. She figures that the Thalmor will not be very eager to do anything in the presents of an Imperial. She is all but stripped of her mystic powers. The experimentations that the Thalmor were conducting got out of hand. Attempting to use her as a gateway to summoning the minions of Oblivion, she grew too strong. In an attempt to end the failed project, they pumped her full of Feldew, to drain her into stasis. She shall have to train and recall her abilities.

Ariving in Riverwood, she enters the Trader. Low and behold, the merchant is well stocked with a library of summoning spells. This is just what she needs. Aside from quite a bit of coin, as anything more than a bear cub is quite pricey. ( I can't see her summoning animals. So I think we will work for a bit and get something that will stand against a fox...or rabbit.)

This is the first time I had a character that made their first coin, chopping wood. It really equates to about 1 gold per second. That's about 500 gold every 8-9 min... not bad...Even though it was not that fitting for her to be doing, but hey....des times / des measures.

Finally we had enough for a worthy spell. It was the Black Hills Goblin, she named http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/560940076115804380/A6B89C91E421828FA9EC222D6EAA7E69902131DE/

So far, ole BS is taking care of business. We went through BFB, with relative ease. The only thing that had me worried, were traps. She has a good starting Magicka pool, so I invested the first two levels in health, and boy am I glad. On nick from a swinging axe hallway, and she is left with a sliver of health.

The set of robes I have picked out for her are part of a craftable set. The Lt Armor is available with the Glass perk, and the Heavy is available with the Dragon perk. I don't see her smithing that much...then again, I never pictured her chopping wood either. The good thing is the cloth robes, of the set, is done at the tanning rack. The bad thing is....it requires Dragon bones and scales...

I guess you know where we are headed next.

I'm starting a DiD character in Skyrim. I've been doing DiD runs in FO:NV for awhile but never made it too far. Anyway...

Nuhgran an will be my Orc mage. He will focus on Destruction for damage and dabbling into Illusion and maybe conjuration for crowd control. He will focus on Enchanting and Alchemy for crafting although I may smith somewhat. (Can be super OP late game so I might avoid doing all 3 crafting skills). Probably going to start at hard and move to master once my skills are rolling.

Backstory:
Nuhgran was exiled for the practice of magic from the orc clans. He has wandered for many years since honing his trades and magic skills. He will need these skills to fulfill his plans of vengeance upon the clans which shunned him. He will break their spirits and their bones in his quest to regain his honor. Before this goal can be made reality he must first extricate himself from the grip of the imperials who caught Nuhgran guilty of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Creating Dar'Loki. He is a khajiit, and will be heavily theif oriented. Only putting points into stamina so he can sprint away from trouble for hours. His main skills would be Archery and sneak

That last char went rather quick. I have had several that met their demise a little early, as well. I hope your new one has a more lengthy experience.

I was behind you in full support. I too have made the game rather hard. I may be adjusting the settings should I find myself in the presence of one of these Monster Mod creatures.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Femten was relaxing with a beverage inside the Sleeping Giant. She was trying to pick up on anything that may aid her and yet not give way to who she really is. A courier, whit a little too much ale, was complaining about a recipient of a letter he was unable to find. Apparently the letter was about a claim to a http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/559814205038434911/6693CCBC36CC22DE66CABCBA8580DCB16B04FAC4/ and the rights to a productive mine.

FEMTEN : *thinking* This is just what I need. Drunken lush needs to just stumble outside. People fall, accidents happen...people die...I profit.

Spoiler
After securing the house and mine, she sets off for Whiterun. See needs a spell book to recall her ability to summon a ranged weapon. This will be the delivery system for her poisons. Looking for the court wizard, she is confronted by the Jarl's Housecarl. She plays the part well...

FEMTEN : Uh..yes! I have news from Riverwood, bla bla bla... *thinking* Idiots...
She agrees to help the Jarl. This comes rather reluctantly, but gaining their trust could prove to be beneficial.

The next part lasted for 45 min, even with the help of others. Again, I may be adjusting the difficulty, but these encounters should be some of the hardest the game has to offer. Taking so long, it provided something that I have not seen before.

Spoiler
The Dragon picks up Irileth and casts her a half a mile away. This shot http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/560940076118148426/CD91D1B1295040EC0430A923659EDA7C784AC4EA/ being attacked, as she makes it back about half way. Note Booty Sweat making an approach with his bow drawn. He shot, what seemed like, hundreds of arrows.

After the Dragon, FINALLY, goes down, the guards start in. with this Dragonborn mess and commenting on her "absorbing" it's power. Femten just goes along with it.

FEMTEN : What was that? I feel so...dizzy.

GUARD : You absorbed and power and Dragons and shouts and...why is my knee killing me?

FEMTEN : I don't know what happened. *thinking* Idiots don't know what Soul Trap is...

She has the means to craft http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/559814205029109548/75E2DB4C0CAC88E9138EF7709B6EC87632532DA1/. They are almost on par with the Arch Mage robes. They have no AR, but wearing the robes and the hood is quite OP for a low level character. Besides, she only had enough materials to craft the robes and gloves anyway. The gloves have no enchantment, so that is fine. The boots provide 70% res against shock. By the time she gets the material together for those, she may very well need them.

Started a new hunter character called "Dunmeria" (yeah I know, terrible name ). She is a dunmer (that you didn't expect, ha?). Only minutes played and a dragon attacked: http://i877.photobucket.com/albums/ab337/GorbadPS3/ScreenShot141.jpg
Luckily, it was shooting at something I didn't see in the woods where it's looking (Dunmeria is hiding inside the tree) and she was able to run straight for the inn of riverwood. Phew.

Edit: Typo.

I see Blade 'n' Bone is up there, but apparently I've never added my 2nd character, who died after about a month of game play (Earth month, not game month)

Name: Thor a'Zaene

Race: Nord

Born:
he woulda been about 20, so the year would be 4E, 181. Not sure of month.

Died: I'll get back to you, Cinco.

Epitaph: Here lies Thor a'Zaene the Nordic fighter. One brave warrior who opened the door for other Cyrodiilic adventurers in Skyrim
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other facts (this doesn't have to go on the gravestone). Thor a'Zaene was basically my 2nd character. Like Blade 'n' Bone, Thor was a pure Nord fighter. The way I roleplayed it, he and BnB came to Skyrim from Cyrodiil in search of adventure & treasure. All of Cyrodiil's dungeons, ruins, caves, forts (etc.) have been looted by about a dozen of my adventurers towards the end of the 3rd era/into the 4th. Therefore, Thor was the first of my Skyrim characters to successfully prove that Skyrim does, in fact, still contain lots of treasure and adventure to be had.

He cared little for anything other than gold, meats of any kind, and ale.

Hey RG,

I recall you posting about Thor, back in Feb. I just randomly selected a few player Tombs to present in the OP, as a starting idea for those that were not familiar with the thread. Because it has been a while since our last mantle. You were one of the first and main contributors from the Oblivion DiD, so I thought I would give you an updated spot in the new thread.

Just give me the new info, when you are ready.

Great! And welcome to the DiD gameplay. People love to read about your character, so post with the details.

Note that, the links to the past threads contain the lists of all the fallen before. It is just too much to keep them in the OP of new threads.

So feel free to review them as well.

Well, I started a Redguard. His name is Malik as a tribute to two of my favorite characters in video games: Malik from Assassin's Creed and Malik from Deus Ex: HR.
http://i.imgur.com/7tnX0.jpg

I'm still working on his story, but it will be something along these lines: He fled Hammerfell because a good friend of his( who turned up to be Thalmor agent) framed him for collaborating with the Thalmor. Boring, I know...and familiar, lol.
He came to Skyrim because he wants to fight the Thalmor and that's why he will
Spoiler
join the Stormcloaks. And because he hates the Empire for what happened during the Great War

1-handed( swords- up to steel only), light armor (only hide-fur-studded), Block, Smithing, Alchemy. Expert diff. (I'm a bit rusty)
I'm playing with Hypothermia and Imp's, so his first few days will be spent mostly in Riverwood/Whiterun trying to earn some money to buy a horse.
Don't know if I should go with a follower or not. My DiD's are usually without.
