Because the play or seem to play no major role in the goverment. Its like Scotland but smaller and less people who have their own language they talk and don't contribute much to the overall running of the island. I don't think I've ever heard of Wales kicking up a fuss over anything that happenes in the UK.
It's kinda like Americans on the Southern areas yeah.
Pretty much. We were unimportant, got our monarchy ended by England, and have been under them for so long we just stopped caring.
Languange is pretty much dead too (aside from up north, but they have a different dialect), beating children for speaking Welsh in their own damn country, tends to have negative effects like that.
Oh and then we had our mines [censored] up, by a certain [censored] of a PM, so economicly we cant do jack [censored].

Wales has no real future, it will just continue its meaningless, dull existance.

Wales is like Canada to the Americanos. They're just funny little gnomes that live at the bottom of the garden. :P

Out of curiosity, why does Wales get so much guff from Brits? I never understood that... though it's probably something like how many Americans talk crap about the South and other areas.

Pretty much anywhere outside of the Home Counties (the ring of shires etc surrounding London) tends to get pretty constantly bad-mouthed, though some bits get it worse than others.

But it's all sunny and beautiful there... Whenever somebody tries to talk to you, just block your ears and shout LA LA LA LA.
 I'll have to give this a try at some point, I'm jealous of all the sun they get down there.
I've spent a lot of time time in France, specifically Normandy and it is a real dump in parts. It's actually a lot like England, but with less history and more industrial estates and tower blocks. There are some beautiful places though, by the sea.
The architecture of Normandy... it may not be the most impressive but keep in mind that many (most) cities were destroyed during ww2. :( For instance, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valognes(previously known as the Versailles of Normandy) was completely... well, there's nothing left of it, or so little. Other, more important cities like Le Havre and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint-L%C3%B4 (nicknamed "the capital of the ruins", according to wikipedia :s) had to be rebuilt from the ground up. Really sad :/ at least they still have Mont Saint Michel.

Hahah. Explain it in technical, dry language. Is it another word for coitus? Etc.

Saving my time, urban dictionary
Picture this a young lad about 12 years of age and 4 ½ feet high baseball cap at ninety degrees in a imitation addidas tracksuit, with trouser legs tucked into his socks (of course, is definitely the height of fashion). This lad is strutting around, cigarette in one hand jewellery al over the over, outside McDonalds acting as if he is 8 foot tall and built like a rugby player, when some poor unsuspecting advlt (about 17/18) walks round the corner wanting to go to mcdonalds for his dinner glances at the young lad, the young lad jumps up in complete disgust and says “Whats your problem? Wanna make sommin of it? Bling Bling” when the advlt starts to walk towards the young lad, the young lad pisses himself and runs off to either his pregnant 14-year-old girlfriend or his brother in the army crying his eyes out.

I think it's not unreasonable to say that the TESF autocensor is the most trigger-happy I've ever seen. Some of the things it censors are absolutely ridiculous.

So... is a ned more like a [censored] or a French shower? What's the difference between a [censored] and a ned? They sound similar.

Oh really auto-censor. Replace one letter of "chat". What's the difference between a "chat" and a ned?

Assuming the [censored] starts with a C and ends with a V. Nothing, its just another word they use in scotland.

I think Wales's problem is that nobody cares about it. There is no Welsh-American lobby, like there is for the Irish and Scots. Hence most Americans don't seem to know much about it, and the rest of the world considers it to be a region of the United Kingdom if they think about it at all.

I really like Wales myself, Anglesey is one of my favourite places for camping.

Rugby >Football.

Speaking of rugby how do other countries view it ? I know NZ and Australia love it, but no idea about most places.
Also America specificly, what do you guys think of it ? Its similar to American football.

Not Australia, Queensland and New south Wales love it, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia have Australian Rules Football. And theres Rugby league and Rugby Union, didnt even know the different till a few years ago and basically didnt care, hate rugby and i hate A.F.L.

Aussies: even gone exploring in the Outback?

Alot of times people need to understand what the and where the outback is, ive been out in the desert, and its desert alot of the really nice spots are already tagged as tourist hot spots, so unless you want to really go off the beaten track and avoid the tourist thats the only good way to see it, Victoria really doesnt have an outback, we have bush and a little bit of desert, same as Tasmania but they dont have any desert, its mostly confined to New South Wales, South Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland and Western Australia.

Give me a reason to care about Wales ?

Economy, ruined.
Culture, ruined (pretty much dead).
Environment/landscape, ruined (most places are these days, with all the litter).

Ireland and Scotland, likely get more attention becuase lots of people from America have them as ancsetors.

Nice hills. Also you do actually have the highest rate of speakers of a native gaelic language out of Scotland and Ireland IIRC.

The landscape is dull imo, and welsh is useless. Aside from being welsh, and it being your countries language (weak reason), you have no actual reason to learn it.

Nope. Some are, most arent.

@Teehee depending on where you live, I could say the same for your accent. Allthough I dont really notice an accent on most people where I live. But when I hear a strong welsh accent I hate it (it sounds good on men, but not women). Like merril in DA2.

Also I find a welsh accent, makes a person sound thick.

Oh, I thought Rachel Weisz was Welsh. Apparently not. She is super hot.

Catherine (Katherine?) Zeta-Jones! She's not common? :sadvaultboy:

What about the men? I googled "famous welsh actors actresses" and a lot of the men are easy on the eyes.

I'm trying to be positive about Wales. Somebody help me out here! Is there anything apart from the hills?

Yep, not ashamed to admit that some regional *cough* Northern *cough* accents aren't too appealing in the UK, as well as our lower class accents. Fortunately I have neither.
