At this point, we don't know if it even can be fixed.

Also, I can't play from the disc. It's hot as hell in my apartment (around 80 degrees F) and I can't afford air conditioning. If I play from the disc, my XB360 will be dead in a week.

Dont let this possible issue bother you too much. I can recall a few months back in an interview with Todd Howard. He said with the way that they do things now...they can release patches on the fly. Instead of making bigger patches with more stuff in them, less frequently. So it's entirely possible that this could still get an additional launch patch. If not in time, than playing it on disc for a day wont be the end of the world. Im sure that given the wide audience of Xbox 360...this will be fixed more sooner than later. Especially in such a crucial time of launch.

Is there any truth in the rumoured 'clearing cache' fix for this issue?

On the plus side I was amazed when playing from disc by the beauty. It is my habit to install the games I play regurlary on the 360. I look in awe at the screen now.

You can't. You need to sign in to Xbox Live.

I just wanna say it could be an problem that not everyone gets, I mean lots of people encountered game destroying bugs in NV but I never had anything that serious. It could just be something with certain Peoples HDD? Either way it should be patched.

Alleged is a good word, I thought this was a problem yesterday but the more I think about it the more it seems likely that Beth would've discovered this earlier on. I'm thinking it's a pirated copy that the screenshot was from thus proving it to be a fake, regardless I'll see it for myself Friday.

Pirated copy?! I am playing a legit version, I have the receipt to proof it. Perhaps I have a buggy 360?

No, you don't.

Several people from all over the world who bought their copy legit are complaining of texture problems.

Bethesda just might have potentially fell on their own sword with https://twitter.com/#!/DCDeacon/status/134355367491665920. If the problem isn't fixed at launch, EVERYONE will call them out on it, me included.

Hope this doesn't turn into a consolewar.

Anyway people what is the problem playing from the disc until it's fixed? It's not like installation is mandatory.

I'm still skeptical that this isn't just a random freak encounter similar to what happened in Fallout New Vegas with NPC's hands getting enlarged. This is something that they probably would've seen right away thus I'm skeptical.

By the way, Hines is not a developer, he is the marketing chap at Bethesda, so with the greatest respect, I would rather have clarity from a Beth developer.

I am really nervous about this because I just don't know whether to install or not. My gut feel is to play from disc and put up with the moped type noise mine emits.

I agree with that, Hines is basically a tool since he's head of PR.
