the Xbox 360 (alleged) HDD install bug

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 7:53 am

Too many conflicting reports for me to be worried about this now. Some say "I have the game and there is no problem," others say "I have the game and the problem is real," while numerous others say, "I have the game and the cause is x, not the HDD install." I've heard numerous people claiming each of these.

What? Problems with textures in a game made in 2011 from a console made in 2005? Go figure ... :o

Anyway people what is the problem playing from the disc until it's fixed? It's not like installation is mandatory.

It's mandatory for me.

As I said in a previous post, my apartment, at all times, is pretty damn hot, as I can't currently afford air conditioning.

I play EVERY game on my XB360 from my HDD out of necessity, not because I like to.

A game like Skyrim will kill my XB360 if I play it from the disc.

can you tell me how bad is it?

and why would a pirated copy be any different, I mean...its still the same game, right?
When I saw the game for the first time I thought bethesda had fooled everyone. It simply wasn't the same thing but then I deleted the game from hdd... To quote Mc Cartney: simply amazed.

So how about we just play off the disc? Not the end of the world.

I agree, I'll wait until Friday to see if it's true or some random act. That's what a lot of us should be doing.

As I said at the beginning of this thread.

CCNA said in a previous thread that he has contacted Gstaff and some Devs to hopefully get some word on this.

All we can do now is wait really.

Your Xbox should only freeze more frequently, not die. Even 20 degrees hotter ambient temp is almost negligible compared to the heat the 360 itself creates. RRoD is unrelated to overheating 95% of the time anyway.

Edit: I am speaking from experience of repairing 360s when I say only 5% are overheating related; most RRoDs are related to design flaws that are pretty easily fixed.

I personally wish the people who are saying they're having this issue, would say what type of X360 they have, what cords they have, and so-on

Say what you want.

I've gone through 7 XB360s, not including the one I'm using now, and they ALL died from either RROD or E74 and they were ALL in hot environments.

Based on my own personal experiences, my XB360 WILL DIE if I play Skyrim for an extended period of time over the course of between one to two weeks.

I REALLY, REALLY hope this texture issue doesn't turn out to be like the XB360 version of Rage. I know Bethesda didn't develop Rage, I'm just saying.

Why cant you sign in to Live?

cant connect my xbox to the internet, no source or signal close enough to do it, at least in my house

well, that svcks...my xbox will make that annoying noise and will probably burn in some hours if the game its not in the HDD

I had two of the old xboxs break with rings of death, but my latest one which is the new slimmer black version (elite I think) seems to be performing well. My brother had an old xbox that literally started to smoke. lmao!

You should stop complaining and save up for ac instead of a new xbox every time...

For those who have had this problem on the 360....what version of 360 do you have? The original (white, rickety console) or the new 360 with built-in HD? I'm wondering if Bethesda only tested on the old or new system.

So I should spend money on getting an AC instead of expecting products to perform the way they are advertised and do what they are supposed to do?

I've had my 360 for 3 years (It's a white pro) had no problems and only had one red ring due to me not having something plugged in, the one cable was loose. Two of those years I didn't use HDD install and had no problems but I was in a friendly enviroment for gaming (Temp was always 70-80). I suspect I won't have any problems but we will wait and see, Friday needs to come so that we can put this issue to rest but judging from past Beth history this will probably be Patch 1.12 or Patch 1.2.

a good point well made.

alternatively could it be linked to connections, i.e. Beth only tested with a premium HDMI cable etc

I just don't know anymore.

As I had asked at the top, I am curious about this as well

I'm honestly thinking it's the white ones that everybody is playing on

Or that their cords aren't the straight up HDMI, but rather the composite or SD cords

WTF! This totally svcks. The amount that I plan on playing this game will kill my xbox if I don't install it. And I'm not gonna hear the end of it from this ps3 fan boy/furry/weaboo at work.

I'd find it hard to believe Bethesda didn't test it on both. Everyone's making a massive issue out of something that WILL be fixed.

I know. But I was curious if the problem was happening on one version or the other which as happened before with other games.
