This Game is a Buggy Mess.

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 1:39 pm

There is zero chance that game-breaking bugs at the very start of the game would make it into the final game. You either have a faulty disc or an axe to grind.

It's possibly a faulty disc then.

Cleaned this topic up. The next one to go all 'troll' this and that will find a piranha in their briefs.

Good. Glad you guys are keeping that sort of thing from happening. Its sad when the community chastises a new person simply because they don't want to believe him/her.

Too many kids on the forums, these days.

And it's appreciated :)
I would check the disk closely under a light, preferably day light, look for even the tiniest marks, one of the forum members is right about one thing, bugs at the beginning of the game should be rare.

My post was deleted? For saying that? Am I accidentally on the My Little Pony forums again?

The gist of my deleted post: cheer up OP, we're not all rude to newbies for no good reason. The people calling you a troll are clearly "misinformed", because Bethesda games are notoriously buggy, and there's plenty of ways to buy Skyrim early.

That really svcks
I've seen about three posts by people with a similar problem at the start of the game, so it's not only you.
Also some of you people need to grow up, he's only trying to find an answer to a glitch that's happened, the same thing could happen to a lot of people by tomorrow.

Has anyone here considered that Bethesda has done this on purpose, in the event of the game getting to people before release date.
yes there may be a patch for PS3/360 fans but until the actuall release time in your region the game woon't get any further than the
character creation, once it's passed the releasee date the will release a minor patch that unlock the rest of the game, that way the insure
the game won't be played untill they say so.

The steam version is likely to have a patch/decryption released that allows PC gamers to actuall play the game, which may add an extra
1-2 gb's to the game file size.

At the end of the day the game will be fully playable on the 11-11-11 so till then don't complain, setup your character the way you want it save the game,
if you can and wait till your region is unlocked, I'm sure the will read the forums and see that yoou have a problem and can't get into the actuall game and I'm sure they will be working on a fix as i write this as the US is 15 hrs behind me (I live in Australia) so it should be day time for them.

Hope this may shed some light on the OP's Problem.

Not to be crass, but are you actually shocked? This is Bethesda after all. This is a TES game after all. If the game is not BUGGY, something is wrong then.

Go look in the Dictionary, and look under Buggy Games. You will see Bethesdas name right away. :P

:tes:

Joking out of the way now, I am not shocked at all. Have you installed this supposedly Day One patch. Actually it should be a pre release patch since the game shouldn't even be out yet technically. Yes I know you got it in the mail, just saying. The way the new gaming industry works, you can have a game before release, but usually now, espically on Steam you need to install a 1-3 gig patch before playing. Maybe it's like this on consoles now.

So what system are you on? Did you try to uninstall and then reinstall again? Did you clear your cache? Have you installed patch?
To be honest, I don't actually think that's his problem. Considering I got the game today as well, for ps3 and I haven't experienced any glitch as serious as that other than minor (expected) glitches like Late animation, Slow to react (minor) NPCs and little glitches here and there. But nothing as serious as that. It could be just his copy of the game.

So i got my copy through the mail today from Game's pre-order service and the first thing that happened was the game totally skipped the openeing sequence and had me and all the other characters standing in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do. So i reloaded it.

Second time the opening sequence works. Hurrah! Or so i thought. Next time we get to the character appearance set-up and after i spent a while making my Dark Elf look especially handsome it won't let me progress from that screen. Oh well, time to re-load again. 6 re-loads later and it just will not go past this screen.

How the hell can Bethesda get away with such below par code making it's way into full release. It really is shocking.
i got the game as well none of this happened to me! game its a masterpiece.ps3 here!

So does anyone else have this issue?

The exact issue is that when i chose my race and customize my appearance and i continue it takes you to a screen which says something along the line of "press A to view your active quest, quest locations will be shown on the map...etc", when you close the pop-up menu it takes you to a screen which has "Quests - General Stats - Settings" on it, it says to use the triggers to navigate between panels.

But when i use the triggers nothing happens, and no other buttons do anything either. The game wants me to go to the quest panel to select the opening quest but it just will not let me, it's really weird a bug like this ended up in a retail version.

@Bradalee - What console type do you have? Elite, Launch, Slimline etc.

I'm encountering the same problem. Doubting it is the disc itself, but rather the xbox's laser suffering from some disease and soon a kick 'n toss across the room.

first complaint I've heard of it being a "buggy mess" but not many people have the game yet.

I agree. this is the first "buggy" post I've read.

What's the difference between your console and all the other consoles that are working? did you have some kind of mod on your console?

I recant my post. just read more posts in thread.

Thanks dude, i bet it's amazing!

Bethesda make most of my favorite games so i know there was going to be bugs. But i didn't expect one that wouldn't let me progress past the opening 10minutes of the game. Hopefully it will fix itself through re-loading sooner or later.

Yes, that puzzles me. This is not an issue concerning textures or what so ever. Someone mentioned maybe you have a faulty disc. Maybe if you have a friend who has an Xbox360, hop by and try your disc on his/her console.

Otherwise, what kind of Xbox360 do you have? Is it an old one or the glossy-black new one?
I might be mistaken, but I read somewhere that a fairly recent XBOX firmware update might cause some new games to freeze or become unplayable on old-gen Xbox360's. This issue would generate a specific "disc unreadable" or "disc unsupported" error on the screen. Are you getting this? If so, you should head over to www.xbox.com/support/contact to report the issue. Worst case, you'll end up with a brand spanking new Xbox.

If you're not getting this error message, it should be something else, and I don't know what it could be..

Playing 3 hours so far on PS3. Only buggy thing so far was the game freezing for literally 10 seconds during the opening scenes. I was about to to a hard reset when the action continued. Turns out it was autosaving but for some reason took its time. Everything since then has been fine.

If that were the case, all people would have to do is set their console date/time to something on 11/11/11. Doesn't seem like much of a deterrent given how much effort it would be in inject that type of code into the software.

Aha, people implying that it doesn't matter that the game is a mess on the disc because there is a day one patch. I don't have Xbox Live, how am I meant to download the patch? Issues like this should have been fixed. I won't be able to download the patch for a month. Brilliant work, Bethesda.
Oh well, I normally get lucky with bugs and hopefully my game will be okay on the first playthrough. That should last me the month till I get home. Guess I'll find out in about 11 hours.

Not really. No more then any other game at launch, there are always a few people with issues, this isn't a widespread problem. Isolated incidents cannot be generalised to an entire platform.

Yeah there's no error message, the game just doesn't let me continue past the character creation screen. And it's a brand new slim, only 2months old. And FIFA12, MW3, BF3, Arkham City and a few other new games work fine, so if it's a firmware problem it's a very selective issue!

Cheers for the help mate :)
