This Game is a Buggy Mess.

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 12:31 am

There are three reviews out so far, all praising Skyrim. Yet a thread made by some random guy(troll) calling it a buggy mess generates significantly more attention. People eh?

You've been reported.

Discovering an issue with the game and registering on the forum to discuss it doesn't make a person a troll.

Is this on the PS3? I've seen tons of 360 streams with no problems at all.

Also, forumites, stop jumping all over the man. Of course he just registered. The game he's playing is buggy. Wouldn't you go to the official forums to complain?

A forum user was on the game yesterday (PS3) said he played 14 hours without a single bug or framerate stutter.

I highly doubt you actually have it, therefor I do not believe you.

Are you really Naive enough to believe that some retailers do not send out pre-order copies of the game before release?

Pre-order from your local GAME or Gamestation store and there's a very good chance you will get it early.

Ive had the issue with my gamestop selling bad copies before, take it in and tell them to test it. Even if it works fine on their xbox you can get a new one.

from the problem described, I think that there is a problem with the data install, the disc was damaged or had a bad printing or there is a problem with the console. I think it would be wise to check the disc for damage (that can be buffed out.)

Understandably. However my Xbox Elite has had problems reading stuff in the past, especially "fresh" games. It usually goes away after third attempt to install.
Lately, though, it hasn't even wanted to play most DVDs so I'm suspecting it could be le box itself - However if you have a Slimline.. It complicates things.
I wont get a Slimline until tomorrow so I can't confirm if it is the disc or the box V_V It saddens me.

considering you and one other person are the only one's reporting this issue so far i'd seriously look at either a.) a hardware/firmware issue with the xbox or b.) a faulty disc (if you've taken the steps to clear the cache as described earlier).

Hehe yeah true, but i've now had to re-load the game about 10times and re-start entirely 4 times and i still cannot get past the character creation screens, and the patch has been installed.

Words cannot describe how gutted i am, would rather not have it now than have it and be unable to play it lol.

Well then, how is the character creator? Since it seems you've gotten to put in plenty of time with it, you should be able to give a dependable input on its performance.

I am in no way an Authority on this Subject AT ALL. Could it maybe be an Issue with the Systems Memory or Disc Space?

Actually, the "Day 1 patch" is already out: Beth released it for those who legitimately got their copy early, such as from early Pre-order arrival, or stores that broke the street date.

Not to be crass, but are you actually shocked? This is Bethesda after all. This is a TES game after all. If the game is not BUGGY, something is wrong then.

Go look in the Dictionary, and look under Buggy Games. You will see Bethesdas name right away. :P

:tes:

Joking out of the way now, I am not shocked at all. Have you installed this supposedly Day One patch. Actually it should be a pre release patch since the game shouldn't even be out yet technically. Yes I know you got it in the mail, just saying. The way the new gaming industry works, you can have a game before release, but usually now, espically on Steam you need to install a 1-3 gig patch before playing. Maybe it's like this on consoles now.

So what system are you on? Did you try to uninstall and then reinstall again? Did you clear your cache? Have you installed patch?
It's much LESS buggy than I thought it would be. (played it a solid 20 hours)

If that were the case, all people would have to do is set their console date/time to something on 11/11/11. Doesn't seem like much of a deterrent given how
much effort it would be in inject that type of code into the software.

That wouldn't work as it would have to go by the time on the location of your account, so if ya in AUS account it would let you play, if you have US account it won't let you play as it can see what
the real time is on a mster server type of thing. I tried unlocking GTAIV in the same way, as the street date for it was broken ghere in Aus, so I ended up installing tit the day before but couldn't play till 9:pm. so a time
date lock would still work how ever some else said other were playing with out problem. so i guess my theroy was the problem after all.

Still i wouldn't be suprise if they had some way to track your account and Know the exact time on your system and compare it to a world clocks system, if your time don't match you get a message saying
"TRY AGAIN IN X" amount of hours.

anyway it's good to hear that some are able to play, I just checked my order and it's showing as dispatched ( bought from www.ozgameshop.com, www.365games.co.uk sells to US customers and has free delivery like ozgameshop.)

It works as expected, it lets you choose a race, choose facial features, skin tone, eye type, nose types, length of nose, hair style, hair colour, weight, scars, it even lets you choose the colour of your cheeks and forehead.

But then again i guess you already knew that :)

Yes, I agree.
I think that people misunderstood the OP because of the Title. Well the community have endured much lately. The haters are all responsible for the late "Grumpiness".
It was nicer when I joined last September (I switched user).

Hope someone will find a solution for OP soon. And I also feel for the OP. :(

OP, in the future try to avoid such loaded topic names that sound like alarmist hyperbole. This is why you drew the ire of a wave of ridiculously suspicious and overcompensating fans. Instead of "this game is a buggy mess" try something like "character select bug won't let me play". It's kind of fascinating to see people who don't really have much of a sense for human behavior going around constantly suspicious that everyone and everything is a "troll". Don't pay it any attention.

Oh my god, it let me continue. AT LAST!!

All it took was 2hours, a system cache clear, 4 seperate re-installs, about 20 re-loads and a lot of shouting.

No idea why it let me progress this time though, but hopefully this is the last of the major bugs i'll find!

Thanks to anyone who offered help or advice, it's been greatly appreciated. Hope you all enjoy the game when you get it :)

So i got my copy through the mail today from Game's pre-order service and the first thing that happened was the game totally skipped the openeing sequence and had me and all the other characters standing in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do. So i reloaded it.

Second time the opening sequence works. Hurrah! Or so i thought. Next time we get to the character appearance set-up and after i spent a while making my Dark Elf look especially handsome it won't let me progress from that screen. Oh well, time to re-load again. 6 re-loads later and it just will not go past this screen.

How the hell can Bethesda get away with such below par code making it's way into full release. It really is shocking.

This is not the case on the PS3. Runs smooth and bug-free.

Odd thing - and I should probably keep my beak closed - but I have only seen the character creator once and it .. didn't touch me the way I was expecting. But we live on!

Once I get my new Xbox and a new copy of Skyrim, hopefully, tomorrow. I can test whether it is either disc, box or both. I wish I was a wizard at figuring this stuff out V____V

Master server type thing? What if they don't have xbl or access to the internet? Then what?

You haven't thought through that use-case very well.

^^^ This.

No day one patch means many bugs.

I love how he's in the wrong for playing a game he paid for and had been delivered to him, not gaming company's fault for printing a game with many bugs in it, which they've done many times I know but doesn't mean it should be accepted and taken laying on your back.

Day One patches aren't something thats absolutely needed. Just something that is felt they can get away with since the internet came to consoles proper. And a symtom of a decay in quality control, which will keep spreading.
