But that would break the immersion of this games world where 3 alliances are at war with one another. It wouldn't make sense to have other factions grouping up with enemy factions and hanging out questing and doing PvE before they go fight each other.
And if I remember correctly, immersion was the big thing a lot of posters were complaining about. They want to roleplay and be fully immersed in the world. Well, this is full immersion in this setting. A 3 way war is raging between seperate factions. That's your roleplay. You can't go and hang our with other enemy factions to PvE.
My only real issue with this province limitation is it wouldn't make sense in a real war. Sure, it makes sense to have borders that are heavily guarded from any marauders who may do your people harm. However, war is about dominance and forcing one's authority over others. Many wars happen because of territorial disputes and fear of a belligerent's expansion of power. I even remember one of the developers stating that the main reason the Daggerfall Covenant is even involved in this three-way war is because of the fear of expansion from belligerents and the potential loss of trade routes and profits. We know for certain the Aldmeri Dominion would love to take over all the provinces as they see themselves as the superior race.
I'm not saying that ZMO needs to change their PvP model, however a person earlier in the thread did make a ingenius suggestion of a mix of DAoC and Warhammer mechanics to fix this issue. Since the major PvP goal of the game is to take control of the Imperial City and have your faction take the thrown, there should be an additional benefit to that. Whoever is successful enough to eclipse the thrown and dominance over Cyrodiil should then have the potential of invading enemy provinces.
This isn't trench warfare and it just doesn't make sense that any one of the three factions would just stop after taking the imperial throne. This is my only real issue with what ZMO is enacting as it doesn't make a lot of sense (obviously it does somewhat in regards to the PvP system). The game still has a lot of potential if they keep it the way it currently is with PvP ending at Cyrodiil. But I do truly believe there are a lot of opportunities ZMO could gain if they were to make slight modifications to the DAoC model.
