Tired of waiting for a patch, were never getting one, Id Sof

If the online stuff wasn't in this patch, then it wont happen. They are not going to make 2 patches, they would have included it in this one.

The systems are respectively 6 (PS3) and 8 (XB360) years old so they really shouldn't struggle with a game made in 2004..

This is irrelevant, keeping in mind that a consoles hardware is many times weaker than a PC. So comparing it to a PC of that time, the PCs hardware was still light years ahead.

Doom 3 was a demanding and graphically advanced game on release. Bear in mind not many console games run at 60FPS. Even without flashlight and projectile shadows, the game is stretching the consoles.

Nope. Load times don't increase after downloading patches on consoles.
Console game patching seems to be different from what you see on pc.
Patches for pc games open up files, correct them and write them back to harddisk.
Consoles seem to download replacements for existing files and reset the paths.
No real patching process, just replacement.

Yup. Patches need to be certified by the console manufacturers to make sure it doesn't interfere with their standards. Similar to the driver certification process Microsoft does for Windows.
Difference is that this process is voluntary on pc and a must on consoles.

Right, but the BFG edition supports 3D stereo/VR which eats at least twice the power of 2D rendering.
They have to make sure that performance is still good enough for 3D stereo/VR even if not used.
If they'd add to many stuff for standard 2D, they would have to switch this off again for 3D and everybody would start complaining over missing effects again.

Nope.
Athlon 64 single core and Ati Radeon 9800 where state of the art in 2004.
PS3 and 360 are way better performers than this dusty old pieces of silicon.
Not even considering the driver overhead on pc systems...

The main problem seems to be the need for constant and high framerates for 3D support.
This was the main reason for the rerelease of Doom3 so this can't be compromised.

60 frames 2D on consoles means 30 frames in 3D. Less than 60 frames in 2D would result in framerates lower than 30 in 3D which can result in flickering, ghosting and other unbearable side effects depending on the TV set used.

Umm Chronicles of Riddike Assault on Dark Athena has full flashlight shadow projection not to mention soft shadows, better textures, better gameplay than Doom 3.

The fact this port is so crap on consoles is a joke.

Doom3's shadow system is VERY demanding even though it doesn't look so great nowadays. As has been stated before, comparing any game to Doom3 is irrelevant.

I can also bet that game doesn't run at 60fps on consoles. It doesn't matter how great it plays and looks, Doom3 stays at 60fps on consoles which is why they can't add things that will drop that, even 2 fps would be too much, it wouldn't meet their goal of 60, you know?

Meh, like I said I would've preferred 30 fps.

I wish Bethesda would offer me an exchange for the pc version at least since all the community guy here tells me in that theres nothing to say about the console patch.

I'm aware of that, but those aren't things you can turn off and on like you can on PC. Like I said, no console game lets you play with these settings; they're either in the game or they're not.

One thing that really disturbs me....

THEY CENSORED THE WOLFENSTEIN LEVELS ON DOOM 2!

They also censored the Medikits.

I mean come on id Software....

It's not like Neo-Nazis are threatening you to censor the Wolfenstein levels!

Also I'm Jewish-Catholic and yes I lost some Jewish relatives to the Holocaust!

I WANT TO KILL NAZIS IN DOOM 2 SECRET LEVELS AGAIN!

They could've censored it in Germany only. But instead they decided to give us a "one size fits all" mess.

If you wonna kill Nazis, buy Wolfenstein3d.
Doom is about killing demons.
What they censored is fine, they just did a very lazy job at it.

Edit: Gosh I always make long posts, had to "clean" this one. Enjoy Doom for what it is

Vynzent.... you don't understand. Those two levels in DOOM 2... they were a tribute to Wolfenstein 3D. Are you saying it's OK to censor killing Wolfenstein SS?! I miss the uncensored Wolfenstein levels.....

I enjoy DOOM for what it is.... But at the same time you must respect Wolfenstein 3D and the secret levels that are in DOOM! Don't you understand?!

MAP31: Wolfenstein
MAP32: Grosse

They were in DOOM 2 back in 1994 as secret levels.... but fine... I guess your one of the people who want to change the blood to green, change the Imp's eyes to blue, and remove the spikes from the imps, and change the muzzle flash to blue.....

Just leave DOOM 2 and DOOM 1 alone Bethseda Softworks and id Software. If you want to censor it then do it only for the Germans and Liberal Europeans...

But this is [censored] America... you can show all the [censored] you want to show.....

You need to get over it.
No I don't want stupid things like what you mentioned, I like my gore and demons and such. So does the world which explains why that censoring didn't happen

It's 2 levels we're talking about here, and two levels that aren't all that great to begin with. This whole "it was a tribute..." doesn't mean anything now either, it was a friendly gesture from id in 1994, it's not something they wanted to be legendary the way you are taking it

Tell me this, if a short, simple Doom map had been put in Wolf3d as a "sneak peek," and they took that out for this, would you be here complaining about that too?

I wish europe was as liberal as you try to make it. We wouldn't be talking about censorship then.
