Todd's pc surprise

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 10:43 pm

What do you think we're getting - (check the ign article if you don't know what I'm talking about). Rumours abound that we're getting dx11 although I bet that Steamworks will launch with some free beth mods. There's mudcrab armour in the construction kit trailer. Maybe there will be some extra goodies. I think some free horse armour would be funny.

Dear god I hope it's DX11 support. I was just playing Call of Pripyat with AtmosFear3 the other day and the photorealism achieved in that game with DX11 features is stunning.

Hmm, DX11 support does seem rather likely.

But, when they talked about possible DX11 support last summer they said it would only be for better performance thanks to the more streamlined and faster API, they wouldn't take advantage of the newer features like tessellation and so on.

The surprise is they hired a team of Beta Testers for the next game.

How would that be PC exclusive? I mean if you want to bring your bug related rage to random threads, you could at least try to be relevant to the conversation.

On Topic: DX11 support seems most likely, although I'm curious as to what Nordic4life was talking about but I'm not on my PC that Skyrim is installed on.

That's only DLC, not extras ;)

For some very good reasons it's speculated to be a high-resolution textures pack. that would be nice, but i would be really surprised if it was a tesselated high-resloution textures pack with DX11 rendering support. Not likely, but a man can dream ^_^

I would fall to my knees and weep in joy. Not really, but it would be cool. If it IS DX11 support then we will likely see some Tessalation mods in the future.

I don`t get excited by DX11 support. It was like this for another game.

All that happened was that people`s Pcs ran slower and for what? Slightly better graphics? how about game play issues. how about allowing use a first person view on horses or fixing other stuff?

Why does Bethesda say they listen to the most wanted stuff on the forum then they come out with DX11 which I never saw anyone asking for?

I guess Bethesda suffer from selected blindness or maybe `listening to the Player` can mean whatever they feel like it to mean?

I've seen a lot of people asking for DX11 support, from the day Skyrim was announced. So by that logic, as long as ANY player has said it, they can do whatever they want and say they are listening to the player. Even Todd counts as a player provided he plays the games after they release.

I strongly suspect talk of DX11 support is nothing more than wishful speculation.

Oh come now.

It will be something that benefits Bethesda and likely has something to do with Steam. Something like an easy developer account on Steam that will allow simplified payments for Mods hosted on Steam, or something like that. (Not that you will be required to use it) Bethesda will take a small cut, Valve will take a small cut, and anything left over will be placed in the steam account so the Mod developer can use it for buying DLCs when the XBOX users are done with them. This should help offset the cost of the Mod storage on the Steam servers.

Whatever it is, I am sure that it will be worth more to Bethesda and Valve than the average Skyrim player.

That must've been a terrible developer, considering that one of the biggest benefits of DX11 is an improvement in performance.

The crab armour was a joke pic PC Gamer (UK) came up with for their back page (Which runs jokes like this). The video you are refering to has random samples of things created outside of Bethesda's creative control as an example of stuff other people come up with. It's to emphasise the point of what the creation kit is for. None of it is an example of forthcoming Bethesda content.

Well DX11 runs on only the most expensive of graphic cards right? But you also still need Win7 64 bit to get the best out of it and possibly more sytem Ram. So while a lot of people were expecting miracles they lost out with slowdown and THEN discovered either their graphics card wasn`t DX11 or they were missing Win7 64bit or they didn`t have enough Ram, etc, etc.

It wasn`t the wondrous thing to all men that some expected.

I`d rather they did more to fix the game for everyone, not just people with super computers and £4- £500 graphic cards.

It's probably a free miniature DLC they made to compensate for the PS3 fiasco and to showcase the CK.
