Total Biscuit on Fallout 4

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 4:23 pm

And here's TotalBiscuit's review about the game. As usual, he lets nothing slip by.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTZyr6iaYIc#t=1h44m52s

"Bethesda seems to get away with murder so often"

"They release games that are buggy, have huge worlds but a depth of a paddling pool"

"It's not a bad game, but certainly a bad RPG. Role playing aspects have been absolutely castrated in favor of shooty-shooty-bang-bang, crafting and settlement building"

"One of the key aspects that made Fallout series stood out - in-depth dialogue system - has been basically gutted"

"I'm not feeling like I'm roleplaying a character in this game, because I just don't have the tools to be do actual roleplaying. I feel like a pair of trousers that's walking around trying to fill itself with as many spare parts as possible so that I can build another gun"

"I expected a Fallout game and as I was treated to a glorified Far Cry".

I wouldn't call it FarCry but ya I agree with most of that but their are also good aspects he seems to gloss over.

.....And? Maybe it's just my lack of caring what popular people say online( mostly because they just copy the general view point and pretend they are edgy and 100% honest but everyone else is too afraid to speak their mind).

People have been saying this since the game release including a lot of people on here. But sure lets give him credit for saying what a lot of people have already.

So what if people have said these things already? Are we running a contest? And what credit? Pretending they are edgy with the rest being afraid to speak their mind? What are you even talking about :)

Bleak he has expressed his opinion on Bethesda games earlier than this and he doesn't like them much at all. I think he only liked Oblivion, and he feels the rest is to shallow. Believe me i have listened to pretty much everything he hasrecorded while playing mmo's and such. So if he didn't like the other games, why would he like Fallout 4?

I don't see the point in making a thread because "popular person x" said what already been said hundreds of times already.

He takes pleasure in knowing his opinion is validated by big Youtube personalities, that is my theory atleast. If that is offensive, so be it. The only opinion i care about personally, is my own.

for the purposes of discussion. sometimes just hearing the bandwagon gets old, sometimes you want to hear it from someone outside of that.

Besides if someone is willing to reply then the topic is valid (i.e. You replied)

Hey Akrabra, merry Christmass :P Not true actually. I've pretty much liked every TES game since DF and F3. For example for FO3, I always defended its FPS adaptation. In Skyrim I only criticized 2 things in the whole game. The removal of spellmaking and the attributes along with the removal of skills that is happening since daggerfall. In Oblivion - only the horrid level scaling.

I can't deny that I take pleasure with my views being validated by great youtube personalities though. :disguise:

Has been done on these forums more times than I can count. I don't think it's bad or off-topic to share and comment on the review of a popular game reviewer.

Getting really boring and tiresome reading negative posts all the time on here, if some people hate the game so much maybe they should go find something else to do in their life they do enjoy. Many Millions of people have bought the game and many millions are loving it.

if Beth only hears positive feedback then they will never know what they did wrong. If you never tell them they messed up then the next game will be worse than this one (I mean they are just gonna streamline it worse but I'd rather try to change it than just be silent)

Sorry but there's only 2 or 3 people that I'll ever take Fallout or any BGS/Obsidian review/commentary seriously. The people that actually play the games. That's Gopher and like 2 others.

Eh, even ignoring my lack of understanding why these Youtube/Twitch "personalities" have such followings in the first place..... I've been pretty dismissive of Total Bull**** ever since I played WoW, and every raider-elitist-[censored] kept fawning over every word he said as if it were handed down from God. :ermm:

Well TB is abit bigger than most, with about 2,2 mill subscribers. He is interesting to listen to when it comes to the game industry as a whole, atleast for someone like me that wanted to work in the industry and actually got a Bachelor degree in game design. When it comes to games however, i think his views are kind of skewed. I feel like that is the difference here. Me personally listen to some of these youtubers for insight, but i don't take their opinion as my own to wield it like a sword. Unfornately many do and it ends up just causing alot of fanboyism youtube/facebook/forum wars.

Sorry, i feel abit preachy today and i hope i don't come off as a videogame snob or something like that.

As always, he hits the nail straight in the head. I'm still hoping he does a real "WTF is..." of it, though it seems unlikely, given that piece :lmao:

He's also exactly correct about Just Cause 3 in the next bit, you do the same thing for 20 hours, and all the fun stuff is hidden behind those stupid challenges :meh:

But hey, both are still fun :hehe:

Oh, not at all. I've never actually even listened to him - like I mentioned, I just got utterly sick and tired of idiots on the WoW forums constantly saying "but TotalBiscuit said....." about everything.

(I still really don't get the whole cult-of-personality thing that's been going on the last few years with the various talking heads online. Just so strange that so many people follow these performers and assign importance to their existence. And that's even ignoring the whole "monetization" thing that makes it even more bizarre as people blathering on about stuff into their cameras somehow makes them money. So strange.)

You know what is funny about that statement and this topic? Totalbiscuit actually talked about this in his latest Soundcloud about The Witcher 3 and that no one should ever use him to validate their own opinion.

I like all of this hate here, its really just 1 person's opinion about a game and no one is going to think it is anything more than that when they watch it, I personally disagree with him on a few things but he does have some valid points especaly on the speech system which needs some serious work in my opinion.

But you have to admit Fallout 4 really isn't an RPG. Real RPGs give you quests with NPCs clearly marked with an "!". Also, there's like one repeatable collection quest in the whole game. One. And it only makes you collect one item. Requiring anything less than 20 is not true roleplaying.

It's still a better RPG than Skyrim or Fallout 3. You don't have to like Fallout 4 or Bethesda or whatever, but come on, all this talk of RPGiness just seems disingenuous to me. It's certainly not much different from any other Bethesda game in terms of the amount of violence, either - and I can think of other well-regarded action RPGs that shoehorn violence into every scenario (*coughMassEffectcough*).

As for internet personalities, it doesn't matter if they're some schmuck on gamefaqs or a famous youtuber, chances are if they're saying something on the internet it's overdramatic and blown wildly out of proportion. Is only game.

Are my sarcasm skills worse than the character's in fallout 4? Damn :/ Like, who would need someone else to validate his opinions and who needs others to validate their opinions through him? Answer these two questions and win a Witcher 3 season pass!
