I didn't like that Dead Island needed you to repair your weapons. It really gets in the way of zombie bashing when I have to worry constantly about my weapon condition.
Yeah, I always thought it was disingenuous of them to claim that there were anywhere near that many guns. There are maybe twenty five guns in the game, there are just a lot of variations.
Though that said, I really like Borderlands. I've heard it said that the MP is the highlight of the game, but I disagree. I enjoyed the heck out of it in SP, was iffy about the MP play. Maybe if you have real-life friends to play it with, and a mic. Playing Borderlands with random strangers isn't that fun.
To elaborate on why I like Borderlands - it's very stable, the rotoscoped style is very nice, and the combat is exciting. I also like its wacky sense of humour - it doesn't take itself too seriously, so despite its bleak (and not hugely original) setting Pandora feels like a fun place. It's kind of boring for the first five levels, but it gets a lot better once you get skills to define your character.

Also, does anyone here play DotA 2? I played DotA back when it was a WC3 map, stopped at around the time 'denying' became a thing. I'm not that willing to put in the hours of practice required, but I do admire the elegance of the game, so I'm definitely up for spectating some matches. My question is, is it comprehensible to non-players/players of the first one?
