The Yogscast's response to Notch's twittering:

I actually gained a small amount of respect for IGN after reading the bit about them in there. That was the last result I expected from reading that.

By the way, has Notch posted a response yet? Twitter isn't working for me at the moment.

Gotta say, I'm glad I got the response I was hoping for from Yogcast. I don't know anything about their videos or anything, but I was hoping they'd stick to Notch by acting like advlts and saying a polite, verbose, and well meant pr statement. Kudos to those blokes for doing the mature thing!

Mojang probably didn't even have any right to sell the rights to videos played at minecon

Why? Notch advertised Minecon as an event for all ages, and then these guys who are entertainers at the event go around swearing at little kids. It would be unprofessional for Notch not to disassociate himself with them after that.

Also, for anyone who's curious, the rest of Notch's side of the story is that some kid asked the Yogscast guys to sign something after Notch did, and they said they'd cross out Notch's signature and put "[censored] you" there instead.

But Yogscast swears all the time. Obviously a kid watching them has heard the F-Bomb dropped more then enough times for it to be a non-issue and if parents have a problem with it they shouldn't blame the Cast, but maybe take some initiative in what their kids are watching on the internet.

Hi guys!!

Yeah, I changed my opinion when I realized Notch wasn't paying them to do this convention.

This was just tweeted by Notch.

It's likely the entire Yogscast scenario is just stress related misunderstanding. I apologize for bringing it online before talking to them.

Let's hope that takes care of that.

A 'misunderstanding'? What [censored]. Notch, you acted like a whingy, idiot child on the internet. Calling it a "misunderstanding" doesnt change the fact you acted like a total bastard. You've still lost all respect from me at the end of it all.

Yogscast has responded to Notch. I'm going to post the entire statement here because reddit isn't exactly PG-13 all the time

We’re sure many of you have seen or heard about Notch’s post-Minecon tweets, which were not what we expected to see when we got off the plane from Minecon – we’ve had a sleep now and recovered a bit, so this is our response:

We are very disappointed by these tweets from someone we admire and respect. We can understand that it was the morning after the deadmau5 party and Notch was very tired, but we are still fairly upset. The quotes and actions that Notch attributed to us were not said by us or published anywhere by us. Therefore we are surprised and confused about where this stuff has come from - especially since the only time we spoke to Notch was at the interview.

Regarding dropping f-bombs at the show - we apologise for this, but had rehearsed the whole show in front of the organisers and half of Mojang and they had approved it. We were given no guidelines or oversight in the weeks leading up to Minecon and there were ample opportunities at the rehearsal for Mojang to inform us of problems, such as being careful about swearing, which is pretty common in our youtube videos.

Out of all the tweets that Notch sent out, most hurtful was the accusation that we told a kid to “[censored] off” and crossed out another signature – which is something we would never ever do.
We loved spending time with fans and were overwhelmed by how many people were there to support us and give us gifts. Simon has enough Jaffas to last him until the middle of 2012. The problem was that Minecon is a new show and organisation was pretty bad, and when we came to the scheduled signing sessions, nothing had been set up for us and we had to scrabble around to fetch tables, ropes and pens ourselves. With some younger kids around, it was our priority to make sure everything was safe, as we have seen injuries in the past.
This lack of organization contributed to long and confused lines and we were heartbroken to have to turn away so many people when we ran out of time. Simon can only handle a certain amount of time between cups of coffee and nicotine tablets before collapsing, but we made a real effort to get out there and managed to do about six hours of signing. Although we were frustrated, we would never have treated fans in the way that Notch suggested we did.

We were also unhappy and surprised that a week before Minecon, Mojang informed us that they had sold the rights to livestream our show and content to IGN – they hadn’t asked us, they hadn’t spoken to us – they just sold it. Because of this, we nearly cancelled the trip, but decided to say “balls to it” and come anyway, because we felt we owed it to the fans. Hannah actually spoke with IGN directly earlier, and they agreed to take their video down and let us put the videos up on our channel, so a big thanks to them for that.
We were not paid, and never demanded to be paid. We asked for some support, and Mojang said they could offer us two hotel rooms for the duration of the stay and a small boardroom to rest in. We spent a huge amount of money on flights, rooms, food and equipment for the 10 people that we brought along to support us, act as security, make videos/posts and generally help out. We also gave away 100 special t-shirts for free.

The reason we came to Minecon is because we wanted to thank you guys and meet the community that we love and are a part of. We couldn’t have gotten to where we are now without you guys, and so we decided to eat the costs of attending and just have fun. This is why we spent our panel giving a voice to loads of talented people that couldn’t attend but have made Minecraft what it is today.
We’re not gonna stop making videos, not going to stop loving you guys, and hopefully we’ll see you at more gaming conventions in the future.

Lewis & Simon & Hannah

I used to just think Notch was an incredibly lazy man who had more money than sense, but I still had some respect for him as he did do an alright job developing Minecraft up to Alpha.

Now all respect is gone, and I think of him in words that would have me banned, flayed and burned by the mods. Way to show your true personality there Notch.

Yup, that's Notch, when he realizes he has egg on his face he tries to hurry up and go 'HAHAHAHA JOKES ON YOU! I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN!' instead of just wiping it off and being polite in the first place.

That said, I lost respect for Notch, Jeb is the one I respect because he does that thing Notch doesnt....uh...What's that word? Work?

Double posting because I want to seperate an idea from MC general dillydallying-

One of the texture options of Painterly gave me an interesting idea that I wanted to toss into the mix here and see what you guys thought. One of the textures for Gold Nuggets are little gold coins, what if we find a way to implement gold nuggets as the standard coin of the server? I mean think about it, what do ingots get used for? large deals and what have you. But they could also be smelted down to make smaller coins, perhaps ingots could be traded for larger transactions or bigger septim values, and nuggets could be traded for 'daily' trades or for lighter septim deals or something.

It's nothing 'OMG AMAZING' since it's just a general idea that can be fine tuned to how we all see fit.

Notch definitely needs a PR guy, since he has no idea how to properly handle these situations. Even if the whole f-bomb thing was true, that's not something you should post on your public twitter the morning after it happens. The guys he is accusing are even unable to defend themselves, since they still need to fly across half to the world to get home.

Hell, it's something you shouldn't be mentioning on twitter at all. That's something you handle privately, but I don't think Notch knows that word. He's is a huge attention [censored]. Same thing with the Bethesda lawsuit. Imagine if every company would go 'lol we are getting sued, here's the whole document.' on their public twitter.

It's obviously done only for getting attention and it makes Notch and the whole of Mojang look bad. And he is well aware of the size of the brainless part of his fanbase and how he thinks he can form up a large angry mob to get what he wants.

And that's just the PR side of things. On the developer side, I think he has been listening too much to the most vocal part of his community, which is never a good thing to do. Now we have Minecraft 1.0 with all sorts of incomplete features tacked on and it feels more unfinished than it did before the adventure update, which they should've had finished much sooner.

Sounds like a good idea Justin. I might have to stomach playing some single-player and get to grips with the new updates but it's so boring, can't wait for the Sevrer to be updated :celebration:.

Agreed. He should have focused on finishing the game and getting it ready for release instead of adding all the idiotic features his fans wanted him to add. There is plenty of time to add broken features after the game is released.

I know your feelings. I just read on the wiki how none of the new records are available outside Creative and console commands. This disappoints me so much :/

It must be strange for people who waited to buy Minecraft until 1.0.

I don't like alpha versions of games, but now the game is finished I got it! But I don't understand, what are these villages for? Why are those NPCs not doing anything? Is experience only used for enchanting? Why can I only find apples as rare loot instead of on trees? Are these chests the only interesting thing to be found in dungeons and mines? Why are there so few creatures? Why do endermen look like crap?

I've been playing Skyrim and I just didn't really see the need in coming on again until we have a server for 1.0. No point in starting something else otherwise is there? I figured that you would have been absorbed by SR3 anyway.

Ehhh. SR3 isnt much to be absorbed in to. Great game in some ways, sorely lacking when measured up to SR2. I beat the campaign in like 2-3 days, and that was with me trying to get everything completed. I wish I had gotten Skyrim instead :sadvaultboy:

Damn. Glad I got Skyrim then, get it when you can because it's good. I actually prefer the perk system in it even if I don't really like the lack of classes.
