I think we need to pay the fine to the server provider.

Or how about we actually find one worth paying?

So if we're going to get a decent server host I'll be willing to pay £40 for the first month and £20 from then on. Unless of course you guys are still game for buying a server altogether? There I might be able to make a worthy contribution to it.
Our intention just now is to buy one of the shiny servers Bone eyed up a while ago. The provider is still waiting on a server coming available though. The advantage of getting one of those servers is that we can host whatever games we like on it, not just Minecraft. I'm not sure how much running two games at once would impact on performance, but it would be a surefire way to pull a larger demographic into our "server community". But anyway, the problem right now is waiting on one of those servers coming available.

For now, Velox has disabled our server for non-payment. I'll talk to Bone about our options, not least of which would be hosting locally short-term.

What's the point? If we can't even get people to pay for the cheap one, why should we expect anyone to pay for the more expensive one?

I don't think donations will be so hard to get hold of if we actually get a good provider. Personally though, I'm reluctant to put any money into Velox. What's the point, for a server that crashes every 15 minutes?

I thought we had about $100 of the $160 already secured for each month? Invader is willing to put up more than $25 and I can manage $25

The spawn can be changed, you know.

Okay, I feel like a bit of nostalgia. Here are some pics of things some of you haven't seen and others may not remember:

Why hello there Nether Cathedral, it's been a long while.

Also I miss when the nether was stupid hard to get by in, now it's safer than the overworld.

And I'll chuck in $25/month too once we get something stable.

For now, I'm downloading all our server files onto my computer. I might try a dummy run via Hamachi to see how it goes. It's not ideal, but it's free.

I should point there is a http://technicpack.net/?page_id=290 and the best thing is that it uses Craftbukkit meaning we would still be able to have McMMO and Superlog and even SkyrimRPG.

Warps?
admin can set warps, and players can teleport to these warps by using the command /warp [name]. we haven't made any warps on any of the previous maps that i am aware of but warps could be used as sub spawns.

also regarding the issue of keeping people to stay together, we could make it a server rule, or offer benefits, or actuall pull together and do stuff like spleef tournaments, werewolf, ctf and so forth.

So if we're going to get a decent server host I'll be willing to pay £40 for the first month and £20 from then on. Unless of course you guys are still game for buying a server altogether? There I might be able to make a worthy contribution to it.
if i am correct that would give us enough people willing to contribute to pay for that server.

no one wanted to pay for velox because velox are [censored]s, we had already 5 people willing to be regular donators for the shiney new one, and invader makes six.

I'm curious as to why there's no actual server.exe or anything similar in amongst all the server files. I'm assuming it's something to do with Bukkit, and I need to find some way of running craftbukkit.jar instead, to get the server up?

I believe Keys pulled out, so that puts us back to five.

I'd feel terrible if it wasn't for the fact Technic is making SP fun, imagine what it would do to SMP.

If we had technic pack, would we have to start a new map? In the current map there wouldn't be any uranium, tin, copper or rubber trees. Would we be able to explore beyond the current map and generate chunks with all the required ore in?

Since all the new stuff wouldn't generate on current chunks, we would have to expand. And since Technic pack brings some new stuff in terrain generation (volcanoes, woo!), there would be all those (as I like to call them) "chunk borders" just like after the terrain generation updates during beta. Yeah, that would look pretty ugly.
So, either a new map or "chunk borders".

I don't know exactly how we did it but for our first pvp map we had a portal linking two seperate worlds. That might work.

Why doesn't everyone play on that rift server while Bones server is down? http://gamepanel.cloudcube.com.au/Interface/GameHosting/ServiceHome.aspx?serviceid=486
