what reason exactly would we need to change maps? besides maybe a chunk error at the border of where areas where un explored the map generation is not broken between 1.1 and 1.2

People are getting bored again, I think. That, and 1.2 and the new biome/height limit. There may be a way to convert our current map to the new height limit, not sure.

Really, we need new blood to keep things interesting. There's rarely any more than 5 people on at once. I realize that it would be harder to control, but that's just how running a server is. At the very least another, open, server could always be hosted. A completely open one, not even requiring forum registration.

The Tekkit map CAN be converted but Jungle biomes will NOT generate and there will be chunk errors where new chunks meet old chunks.

Making the server fully public is a horrible idea, especially for the vanilla map. I know of ways a griefer can undermine BigBrother or whatever we're using.
Now proper and widespread advertisemant, there's a solution.

I want one because the reset undone some of my work and removed all the ores I mined, I cannot be bothered going back down find the ores, closing 7 spawners, making the flower thing, rounding up the escaped animals and then finishing my house - again.

I wouldn't mind a open server to anyone but then again I'd be cautious about it. As much as having some new and artistic people joining is there will be some that are artistic in a destructive way and have a tendancy to use our peoples work as theyir canvas...Be wary of these people :P

I think it will be good having more people on but its guaranteed that we are going to get griefers and hackers so we would need more current (active) players with the power to kick and ban :)

Wasn't this the reason Tank was looking for more Admins and was going to choose someone - Skooma I think it was.
I think there is only like 3 mods and only 1 frequents the server enough to keep order...Some sort of order anyway.

There needs to be more mods or even another group which has less power than mods just so that they can kick and ban hackers and griefers

Yeah just looked at the OP so Mirg is not a mod still leaving only 2 of them and with Sky rarely being active/present there is only one at present along with the 2 Admins

... Wait where has Undone went, did he quit?

With the mods though they people selected need to be responsible, have the respect of the other players and know the proper commands to deal with people. It's easy enough to give a good few people power but you'd need to know if they could handle it and not go on rampages with Creative mode and/or kicking/banning people and then theres spawning all the items to cheat - gotta know who's trustworthy

*Shrug* Stopped coming around the time Teehee quit. Whether that's coincidental or no, I suspect between work and other stuff he just stopped caring.

Didn't Undone quit because he kept getting flak from you guys?

I won't go into too much detail, but TeeHee left when Undone refused to put up with her manipulation of the playerbase any longer.

I thought everyone got over that when we moved over to tekkit? Anyway, as far as I know he got bored of how everything became so tekkit centric, but whatever. You choose what you want it to be is all I can say.

I was under the impression that he left because even though he found Tekkit fascinating, he thought that the work put into machines was not worth the reward.

Which is true, and EE is pretty game breaking.

I know I haven't been on as much as I should (as a good little mod), but I think half the server has me on Steam. If anything ever happens, all you need to do is send me a message on there and I'll be on as quick as I can.

I've just been busy getting my dreams crushed by ME3 lately. Plus it sounds like a map change is imminent, so I see no reason to get heavily invested in the current map. When the map changes, I'll be on pretty regularly again.

And I can't quite say I disagree with these sentiments.

I agree that it is but getting those supplies quicker makes for quicker building, which can only be good especially if it looks good.

- On that note has anyone saw my lovely mut castle :D

RailCraft

A multi-purpose tool any rail engineer should carry. It makes removal of old rails a breeze and even works on http://railcraft.wikispaces.com/Detectors+%28Device%29 and http://railcraft.wikispaces.com/Item+Loaders+%28Device%29. Additionally, right-clicking on a rail will allow you to adjust the rail. Most of the time that means reversing the rail's direction, but some rails will open a GUI. Right-clicking a Detector Block, http://railcraft.wikispaces.com/Cart+Dispenser+%28Device%29, or Advanced Loader will turn the block to face the side clicked on.

RailCraft is still active for anyone who still wants/thinks of using it - Just the default recipes are used for normal/booster/detector tracks.
I think it was Simpson that was using it before and wondered if the tweak would stop his work.

Railcraft. It makes changing specialty rails and equipment easier, and since we are preparing to build an unnamed megacity, start practicing by swinging it at those headcrabs over there.
