Unofficial Ponycraft Thread #77

Ah dammit.
Should we add a quarry size limit to prevent this stuff from happening again? For the greater good.
A cobble generator would make a quarry of that size obsolete too.

Oh any ETA on when we update tekkit/map? Tell you the truth this map has gotta a bit dull yes cause we're lacking community.

It's hard to keep a community together when people 'power' mine and keep all the resources which causes others to move away in search of ore rich lands

Actually its easier than ever now. Set up 3/4 cobble factories (to avoid those horrible quarries), and you only to need to set out on 2 (3 at most) mining expeditions before you are settled resource wise and can replicate everything after that. Besides we can share stuff better now

I don't really care for quarries, I done it twice out of curiousity but they don't return enough to be used again
I'm, was, in the process of making a http://equivalentexchange.wikispaces.com/file/view/Condenser_array.gif/306992750/136x173/Condenser_array.gif but I had to go out a good number of times to collect supplies for it like dust and more diamond.
I prefer just mining for the stuff opposed to using machines (i.e quarries etc) since it boosts the MCMMO skill and gives x2 or x3 drops. Could share yeah...

- Vanilla server is offline FYI

....

....

[Grumble]

I managed to get everything but 3 collectors and the outer glowstone blocks all in one day with manual mining/previously collected resources

- I give up on making a Pokemon to live inside until I actually plan it out proper / have an image to copy from since working off memory of Flareon was going nowhere quick enough

1.2.4 will be bugfixes done by the Bukkit team with a targeted release for Thursday, and there might be a new in-game song with it, though it could be for his next album as well.

But still, a quarry that big just isn't neccessary....
This is why i don't really play on the Tekkit map.

What was the bug with the Iron Door, he clicks it without a switch/button/pressure pad expecting it to open, when it's not meant to

That's a poor excuse.

IIRC, the bug was about right-clicking an item while looking at iron doors.

You make it sound like I'm under an obligation. Fact is I just think the machinery makes the world uglier.

Only quarries do that, and they're frowned upon; now more than ever.

And nukes....

By machines I assume you mean the quarry, even at that there are only...4 on ground level I can think of, 1 being with me and 2 with Callum/Ross and another with Didact whos is miles out the way.
With everyone spread out they aren't a frequent site, unless you hang around Spawn where my mine/farm/lab is set up and Callum/Ross' home. All I have to do is tear my down since I'm finished with it.
Besides quarries I don't know what other machinery you mean, pluss everyones spread thin just now so your land won't be uglified by others WIP

Nukes are IC
Quarries are BuildCraft

I hate nukes also but I make them as a defense, no touching my land!

Buildcraft whatever.

Besides, quarries are inefficient. You waste more ores and materials setting it up than how much it actually digs up.
For cobble, again, there are automated cobble generators that can give an unlimited supply.

It's the ugly girders I don't like, and the fact that the mechanics tend to mean people spread out a lot. It just doesn't feel as communal to me.

I have to side with Turns a little. I'm indifferent in terms of half the crap the Tekkit mod adds, but some things are just seemingly done with no consideration of how others might respond. Like Shan and them's town, they could have left it be, but they nuked it heavily and now there's an ugly mishmash of blocks all over the area, or those big huge surface quarries and what have you. And most people make 3+ at a time, and tha just makes things ugly.

The revert is... unfortunate. I lost everything I had done on the Tekkit map.

Sort of have lost the will to play again, especially if we're going to have to get a new map again soon.

Yeah it's less communal, but with Terpy's idea of sharing we can all be a nice loving community again

- Maybe make use of the IC Coins?

I made 1, I tore it down and put it somewhere else, leaving only the square hole, I also done it over water so it's not as big an eye sore. I'm not disagreeing that they can be ugly, like I said before I ain't making them again since they didn't give me a return on how much I spend. Only people with close to 3 on the surface that I can see is Callum/Ross and they'res is only one and a half (Partially taken down) and Shan/Purge are the only one to use nukes besides that the eye sores are very limited.

A common feeling when a map change begins to linger...
I'm the same if I lost my flower thing, I'm just going to boost the MCMMO skills for the future

Agreed - again though I've made one and said no more, the only others are Callum/Ross' who are rarely on unless I ask them to or they're extremely bored, and then there's Didacts which broke stuff....

I'd be pretty pissed if we started using them. Back when we first started using Tekkit, I suggested we use them to establish an ingame economy, which works seeing as there are vending machines, and my idea was simply brushed off or rejected as a silly idea. >_>

I can privide materials and tools, if you want. The only thing I likely have lost would be all the records but 11.

How? The coins were added in as a means of converting a limited resource into a bartering medium, and EE makes that impossible to maintain. I could churn out a few stacks of credits a second.

I don't care if it's Vanilla or Tekkit, I just want a map that has a sense of community. Which even with Tekkit, shouldn't really be a problem.

Well it's mine now, to change and wed as I see fit :shifty:

Silly capitalist pig, I shall take the power away from you and give that money to the people!
I was just tossing the idea up in the air since I was only thinking of IC and BC, as much as EE is great it's kind boring the place up.
Normally people would mine, sometimes creating nice tunnel systems and it'd be an adventure. But with EE you just build a machine, put an item in and leave the computer on for 5 minutes and return to [X] amounts of [Y]

What we could do is try to build at least one large industrial city somewhere.
