[WIPAnnounce] Unofficial Skyrim Patch

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 1:33 am

Do you consider things like improving quest directions things that you'd work on? For example, in Falkreath, I was given instructions to talk to someone. That person was locked in a jail cell somewhere in the city. All my quest journal said was 'Talk to Sindig'. It would have been much better if it would have said 'Talk to Sindig in the Falkreath Barracks jail cell.' By implementing quest markers, they have short-changed us on quest directions again.

I posted two bugs with summon familiar in the general discussion only to see it dissapearing from the first page in less than five minutes, then I remembered this thread, so those are the bugs I found:
I found two bugs with this spell. First, casting it doesn't increase conjuration. Second, you can contract rockjoint fighting against a familiar as if it was a real wolf. Nothing gamebreaking (As far as casting other conjurations increase your conjuration. Something I don't know yet), but it could be fixed.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1258913-they-need-to-fix-this-stupid-censored-asap/ needs to be fixed ASAP!
This is pretty easy to fix, it's a strange physics engine behavior at high fps (ie: after you shut off v-sync.)

Get this: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34 and cap your fps at 60. You can try higher, but I still saw glitches at 70 and 75.

Having some very odd behaviour with the dragon skeletons (sorry no formid at the moment, but can get them if required)

1stly, I was under the immpression they'd hang around for ever, there was certainly a Peter Hine's tweet saying so, but they don't. They dissapear seemingly as soon as you change cells, but the dead bodies are still there.

The really weird bit was following a dragon attack at the College of Winterhold, I went into the college and slept, when I came outside again the dragon bones had gone, but when I fast travelled to Winterhold town the dragon skeleton appeared with me! It was half in a building rattling about.

Also, the dragon that made this skeleton seemed to 1st spawn in the main room
Spoiler
where the Eye of Magnus is after completing http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Good_Intentions. I was supposed to speak to Tolfdir but couldn't as he was in combat mode

Hi Kivan - don't let this consume you this time!! :)

Heh... no worries. :) I'm still employed. For now!

Use of the quest compass falls under Developer Intent, so I couldn't call that a bug. It would be (and we fixed numerous instances in Oblivion) if what the compass indicated and what the journal/NPCs indicated were contradictory, but not otherwise.

I posted two bugs with summon familiar in the general discussion only to see it dissapearing from the first page in less than five minutes, then I remembered this thread, so those are the bugs I found:

The second one I wouldn't call a bug at all. The first, yes. You know where to post it. :) I will if you don't.

Having some very odd behaviour with the dragon skeletons (sorry no formid at the moment, but can get them if required)

Dragon skeleton weirdness is so common we probably don't need it on the tracker but it's there, although not this aspect. I've been holding off until I get to that point in the MQ so that I can test things out. Sure I could just spawn some and kill them with the console but I want to enjoy Skyrim as well as debugging it. :P

That doesn't actually "fix" it. The problem is still there. This workaround just helps limit it. I still have the problem of poltergeist activity, such as objects moving on their own and strange banging noises. And others have reported experiencing the same thing in the thread that other posted linked even with this workaround.

I'm not terribly optimistic this particular issue can even be fixed by the USP guys. I'm thinking this is something Bethesda is going to have to address themselves.

How do i get location coordinates with console?

Bug or not, that's still somewhat hilarious.

Edit: CURSES! Quoted the wrong post.

I meant to quote the one with the Pickaxe with the probably alarmed mutt attached to it.

Edit:

http://i.imgur.com/70f3g.jpg. Should have grabbed the FormID of the rock 'cause the actors were FFs. Anyhow, the dog was stuck to her pickaxe and moving to and fro as she swung it. The dog separated momentarily, then got stuck again.

There we go..

Hey Kivan, could we get a link to the tracker in the first post? I didn't notice it in your sig until I searched through several pages of this thread (largely because I was searching for the word "tracker," but hey).

Bug:

There is a miscellaneous quest to find the remain of Narfis sister near the town of Ingvar Ivarstead (the one at the base of the 7000 steps). It is possible to find her remains before getting the quest and loot the item needed, but it will never update; you get stuck at the Find Riwhatevers Remains segment forever.

*edit* Almost forgot;
Same town, quest to get 10 bear pelts for Timba Wide-Arms. She will take the most expensive pelts you have, and will take more than 10. For example I had 9 Bear Pelts, 9 Ice Bear Pelts and 5 Cave Bear Pelts, she took the 9 Ice Bear Pelts and the 5 Cave Bear Pelts. Pelt quality I suppose is a non-issue, but the quantity could stand to be fixed.

Out of curiosity, has anyone else noticed that the game crashes in town but doesn't seem to out the wilderness or in dungeons? I constantly have to hit f5 when I'm in town in case the game decides to crash after I've finished buying and selling, or while I'm crafting, or during conversation (etc...) Out of town I have very few issues. Any ideas?

Yes this.

Finally got the clue and posted some bugs there.

Is there anyway to search out keywords of previous reports? Seems like there might be a lot of duplicate entries without doing this. I'd like to know if what I'm reporting has already been reported.

thanks

Yes, there is a search button on the right hand side of the top bar that will open a little search box when you click it.

It would be nice if the scripting changes and the visual changes (Item/rock/plant placement) were to remain in separate esp's this time. I remember a number of people having problems when the world was altered visually, especially in regards to mod compatibility. Making the patch more modular with two or three files and an optional merged would give users more flexibility.

I am looking forward to the fixes, but lets hope Bethesda do a better job of patching it themselves first.

64bit exes can use much more RAM than the 32bit one the game is made with now.

Doesn't that only matter if the amount of RAM that Skyrim uses gets near 2 GB?

Yeah, and even then you can get up to 4GB by making it LAA. I was just answering the question though, I'm not even sure if Skyrim needs any more than it has now; adding tons of mods will probably change that though.

Well there won't be a 64bit exe to make use of it though unless you were referring to using of the LAA patch to use a full 4GB. Probably a good idea anyway though considering how cheap you can get it.

I don't know if anyone of you have notice it, but when you became named as Thane for Markarth you were given a weapon called "Blade of the Reach" and later I took a closer look of that weapon it turns out to be an iron war axe or a steel war axe instead of a blade.

Another thing is that Lydia should be an essential NPC from the start, because she is involved in a quest for the college of Winterhold there the player is given a task to collect an item from her in Whiterun that she wants to be enchanted, because if she dies that quest could be broken and I don't know for sure if you can resurrect her if the quest is already active. Finally please add a topic for the Jarl's steward to allow the player to buy every upgrade there is for your house after that you have bought it and removed the book plus the topic "I need to decorate my house" when there is no upgrades left to buy. :)
