Unofficial "Will My PC Run Skyrim" Thread #52 w hard

not unless you have tons of other programs running in background using memory. since it's only a 32bit exe, the max amount of memory the game can actually access and use is a bit over 3GB so don't worry about it.

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply!

I don't know why, but I see people running with 8gb and I always think I need that as well.

By the way, your avatar picture was something a friend posted on Facebook a few days ago, and it's one of the funniest pictures I've ever seen!

lol ya that's where i got it too. :)

as for memory, having more than 4GB for the vast majority of the public is sheer overkill but pc makers market and sell machines with more but it's pretty much just an advertising ploy. free upgrade to 16GB? right. they give you the free upgrade cause it's so cheap and it takes your mind off the fact that the machine was overpriced to begin with. as technology progresses and programs transition from 32bit coding to 64bit coding then it will help to have more but until then 4GB is plenty.

If next gen gets 8GB as Crytek wished for then 32 bit will be a thing of the past

also RAM is cheap these days

HELPPPPPP :sadvaultboy:

I rly need some advice guys

where art thou

I have the EVGA 550Ti GTX. It works wonders on anything I've ever played. I I know it isn't the 560, but it's next-closest. It should still be available. I got one for 100 bucks 2 months ago at Tiger Direct (or whatever they call it now). It should run Skyrim well.

(Heh, if only I had a quad-core...).

I just want a quick opinion on how my laptop might perform. The 310m was listed in the "low" setting of the mobile GPU part of the post, but that was assuming 1080p correct? Would I fare better since I'm stuck with 720p at a lower resolution? Or should I just stick with getting it on a console?

My Graphics card wan't there. Also, I used 'Can you run it?' and it said I passed minumum, but failed recommended. This was strange as I had all of the reccomended specs, and abit more. So i'd like everyone else's opinion on how this will run

4GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 9500GT OC by 30%(i'd prefer not to overclock though, so I'd like to know if i can afford not OCing it)
AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.20 Ghz
Windows 7 home premium 64bit
1280x1024 resolution
129 GBs free

So what settings would I be able to run it at a steady and satisfactory FPS(18 FPS and higher)

Thanks!

should max it fairly easily

good luck:

LOW END: These cards will have trouble running the game if they even run it. The game probably won't be very enjoyable on any of these. The cards on the top of this of this list may be sufficient, but its more of a judgement call. The cards on the bottom probably won't run Skyrim at all.
99. Nvidia 310M

you'll have to play with it a bit. you might get up to medium settings depending on resolution but i'd say somewhere between medium and low. if you can OC that 9500GT you should get solid medium out of it.

I was planning on building a new PC for Skyrim, but as I don't tend to play many games (last PC game was Oblivion, since then I've switched to Apple Macs) I decided to just put the best GPU I could in the generic Dell machine I use for office work and save my money for now. Choice in GPU was severely limited by the Power supply (300 watt with no 6/8 pin connections) so settled on a HD 6670 which seemed about the best bus powered card.

For perspective, the machine previously had a terrible HD 3450 and I managed to play 100+ hours of Oblivion on this recently with medium-high settings on 1920×1080 (no AA). FPS was around 20-30 which I could live with although a long way from ideal.

Spec:

Intel? Core?2 Duo Processor E7400 (3M Cache, 2.80 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
4GB Ram
HD 6670 1GB GDDR5
1920×1080

Want to play at my screen's native 1920×1080 resolution. Hoping for Medium-ish detail and will be happy with 30-45 FPS. If really needed I don't mind dropping the resolution a little. What are your thoughts?

Did some upgrading;

i7-920XM OCed to 3.0Ghz across all 4 cores
6990M 2GB DDR5
6GB DDR3 RAM

Hoping to completely max this game on my 15" laptop @ 1080p - am I safe in believing I can manage this? :D

Hi,

Could you recommend me a video card that meets these criteria:

1. has an s-video output
2. can run Skyrim
3. preferably is still on the market ;)

I use an old anolog TV as a monitor, with Win XP set to a resolution of 960 x 600. (That's why it has to have s-video out!)

Cheers!

EDIT: It should be pci-e :) (I'm running on an abit Abit IP35-E motherboard.)

LOL don't even know where to start looking for something like that. need to know some other info though....do you know what kind of motherboard you have? need to know if you have an old AGP slot (my guess) or if it actually has a pci express slot and what speed it might be if so.

Thanks. I'm assuming low settings are somewhat close to console standards(and they still look nice) so it should be fine. Thanks!

Hi there, what are your opinions on my laptop being able to run Skyrim!? The problem is my Video Card.

You Have: Intel® HD Graphics (i3)
Required You Have
Video RAM 512 MB 1.2 GB
Pixel Shader version 3.0 4.0
Vertex Shader version 3.0 4.0

I've failed the "can you run it" due to my graphics card, is this accurate :(

integrated graphics are always a question. traditionally they've not been good enough to run games that are graphically intensive but the more current version can run some newer games fairly decently. the latest intel integrated graphics has the memory and shaders to meet minimum requirements but whether the game will actually support it out of the box is another question.

Hey all, ive been looking at my pc lately and im wondering if i will be able to run skyrim on mid-level graphics.

since ive seen the minimum specs and the recommended and my laptop seem fine, its just my graphic card which annoys me as ive looked it up on geforce wiki, and it says it has 512 mb ram, however with this scan i get 2.18 GB.. cus if i have 2k then its more than enough for a pretty awesome skyrim experience...but if i only got 512 its gonna be some low end gaming... anyone who can clear this out for me? :D thx in advance! :D

Just want to know if I should get Skyrim for my laptop or PS3.

Windows 7 64-bit
Intel Core Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53 GHz
4.00 GB Ram
320 GB HDD
Nvidia Geforce GTX 260M

Not sure how well my laptop would run this. I had to run DA2 on low or else large battles slowed down.

Thanks for replying, geckoman.

I'm using an Abit ip 35-e mb with pci-e.

(I edited my post to say this a few minutes after posting it - I didn't see that you had already replied by then - I think there is a certain delay on the forum.). :)
