Greetings.

My pc is as follows:

i5 650 (dual core) 3.2 mh
8g ram
gtx 560 ti

Im new to pc gaming and I would really like to know what you think about this. I just bought this graphics card in hopes that I will be able to get the best graphics - ultra. I would really appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance.

I just read that although I only have 2 cores, I do have 4 threads. I'm not sure what that means, but will that help my computer out? Also, to answer your question, I'm looking to play on 1920 x 1080. Thanks in advance

Hi,

I was very curious if I could run Skyrim with this:

Vista Ultimate
CPU: Intel Core2 Duo @ 3GHz
RAM: 4GB
GPU: nVidia 8800 GT 1GB

I installed BF3 and put all settings to maximum (Ultra) and just turned off the motion blur, antialiasing and put anisotropic filtering to x2. The game runs fantastic on this box with these settings and looks incredibly good. I think if Bethesda optimized Skyrim so well even you guys with such outdated cards would be able to really enjoy the Skyrim.

Can't wait to play the game...

Cheers

well

1. your not maxing BF3 with that because you don't have DX11

2. You should be able to play Skyrim but again not at maximum or even high

What your price Range? If you can give us a price range we could name a list of very decent cards in that range.

about £50 or 80$ as it would be in america, i could probably squeeze £60 out if i save a little bit longer
EDIT: i decided last minute that I'm gonna get it for PC because my new PC is on its way, so now I'm scrambling around researching stuff and tryna find quick deals for cards, components, HDD's and stuff like that so sorry if my posts seem rushed lol

Yeah... keep saving saving upp... and go for at least a radeon 5870 or a geforce 460gtx. There both decent cards and good for gaming, unless your serious and like to spend alot go for the 6990 or 590s.

okay thanks, I'll keep saving, how much do you think i would have to spend to be able to JUST play skyrim? as I'm thinking about trying to boot it up when i get it on the card that's installed on to the computer(default)

At that price your best bet would probably be an ATI 6670 or its nvidia equivalent. That'll run the game on medium settings fairly well.

i forgot about hte later cards 6000 series well.. a 5870 is really good decent card, but if the 6870 is about hte same price i wud say why the heck not. If you don't care soo much about graphics and just wanna be able to play look in the at least high category in the very first post of this thread..
So like for example maybe a 5770 which is about 160 dollars, should do you fine.

uh, maybe oblivion/morrowind and counter strike 1.6 but that's about all, I'm estimating around the next Year of gameplay on it will be just skyrim and i really don't care about graphics, i ACTUALLY prefer old fashioned(think doom1/2 arena/Daggerfall) graphics I'm just looking for one that will be able to make the game run with minimal lag in my budget.

Its really hard to tell. You cant benchmark Skyrim yet so there is no way to tell how well a certain model will work. Yeah and if we not know the model its much harder to give a prediction. The only fact that remains is, that its a Dual Core processor who is in the min. specs. Maybe someone knows how well a Athlon 64 x2's overall gaming performance is?

I dont know.
Thanks. I'm really tempted to just take the plunge since I think those Phenom II x4s are at a very, very good price point right now for their power and haven't bought a computer in years. I'll have to think it over. I didn't think anyone would know for sure, but it was worth a try to ask.
