1.8 UpdateDragonborn DLC discussion thread #45

Really hoping that you don't have to start the main quest to do this DLC, I avoid it like the plague.

I can almost guarantee you'll have to at least be done with "Dragon Rising", if you want to experience the main plot of "Dragonborn".

Emphasis on "Almost", I really have no idea, but it'd be kind of awkward otherwise.

Who knows who the narrator is? Awesome voice, gives me the goosebumps.

As for how he's still alive.. well.. Sosltheim is a magical place.

"You thought you were the only one (referring to being Dragonborn)" I'm pretty sure you at least have to realize you are dragonborn.

Though, you may go to the island and get attacked by a dragon, if you haven't killed one yet, and you find out then.

Oh yes, thanks. I'll remove it.
Was Stahlrim armour shown in the video? If so, at what time?

If that's not Stahlrim armor at 1:04-1:05, then I don't know what is. Any other blue crystal armors in TES lore?

He is the first Dragonborn... so good luck you random guy you don't stand a chance at all, just accept you're gonna get burned to death by dragonfire now.

Also the exclusivity is weird given the files from the patch were set up for Dragonborn to run on PS3.

Betting it's just the new Shaman of the Skaal. (Or whatever Nord village for that matter.)

Also, surprised to see no Dunmer in the trailer.

Mardoxxx, the Stahlrim armour pic shows the goblins with the spears.

They're Reiklings.

I hate the main quest because the random dragon attacks kill off my NPCs, I avoid it every game. I've managed over 200 hours on my main without doing it.
Spoiler
In Dawnguard when I spoke to the dragon he said he just had an instinct to call me a Dovah, that some day it would become clear to us both. Or something along those lines, I thought it was cool that they took into consideration folks who don't do the main story and I'm hoping this DLC will do the same.

Seeing as how the dlc revolves around you as the Dragonborn, meeting the first Dragonborn, and revolves around dragon enemies & mounts... Yes I think so.

I always thought and read (Or at least interpreted ES lore) that Alessia was the first Dragonborn, of the first Cryodiilic Empire. Dragon Speech was an old gift dating well back before even Ysgramor arrived from Atmora (For the first or second time), but the "Dragonborn", was the name given to those blessed by the covenant of Akatosh, that Sealed the gates of Oblivion. Without the aid of their Daedric allies, the Aylieds were relatively easy pickings for the rebelling Humans, lead by Alessia, with special guest appearance by Pelinel Whitestrake.

I can respect that. It gets even worse with Legendary and Revered Dragons, though they themselves are extremely fun to fight if you haven't exploited the [censored] off your character. I must have reloaded a dozen times near the cave that eventually leads to the Forgotten Vale, near that Orc camp (Can't remember name), because a Legendary dragon would just annihilate the whole camp in one Strafe.

I'm kind of hoping that there'll be some way to discover you're a Dragonborn directly in Solstheim, rather than in Skyrim. Or maybe having progressed through the vanilla main quest will be a needed prerequisite.

Actually they were, they simply took the Goblins from the gamejam video and called them Reiklings.

Or lore.

Ha, right... Of course there were. What a brain fart! I thought it was odd if there weren't (like I thought a moment ago, for some reason. Granted, I only now watched it on full screen and 720p.) precisely because lore says there should be. Okay?

And it's always nice to see many corrections to mistakes like that, but when you try to say something creative, hardly no-one's commenting back...

Didn't you get your werewolf fix with DG? Have zero interest in more beast transformations.

So... there are Reiklings, not goblins. The creatures created for the Game Jam were referred to as "goblins" for the sake of convenience, although they looked nothing like TES goblins do.

So if throwing spears is going to be included throwing knives would be included too hopefully. Just put them in a new projectile perk tree or something but throwing weapons needs to happen
