I think Gorbad is right on this, unfortunately. I almost feel like I stretched everyone's incredulousness with my Court Witch, Fiona Barrow-Heart - in fact it is her that your character seems a little too close to. If you want to RP a mage, maybe make him based around a single school of magic primarily? Fiona is illusion, alchemy and conjuration, to give you some idea, but she is, ah, yeah, the court witch. I probably wouldn't accept someone's CS if they gave me Fiona's now XD

Haha, okie dokie. One piece of advise, is this RP is set around the normal comings and goings of a fresh prospect-town (a whole new Hold..) so your character should ideally have a job in mind they could perform in this town. Simply being an adventurer hired to go out and stop beasties that trouble the town does count, but you could really be anything! Set up a shop, be an alchemist, whatever. Does that help?

Maybe that power isn't as important as people seem to fuss over? Especially in a social RP like this? In this kind of RP, our characters are considered mostly normal. The "Perfectly mundane, completely incompetent peasant" is a myth.

That's the way I also see and I don't plan on really having him fight unless it is really necessary. He'll be more busy with organizing the guards and he'll help the new drillmaster to get them into shape again so a drunken guard won't be trying to arest someone again. their will simply be no drunken guards anymore

Really, as I said earlier, it is a matter of RPing etiquette. Uber characters are sort of immature, and lead for less interesting Rps, not more interesting. Daikanos is just an old experienced battlemage though, which is totally fine. As Scow says its not the power that matters so much, as the Rping itself. For instance, if your character is a powerful mage, they can use their magic, but not in a way to dominate everyone around them. Fiona is a Master of Illusion. It wouldn't be stretching Lore if I had her wipe mistakes she made from people's memory, or go about invisible half the time, or constantly use her magic to make her impossible to get one over. But that wouldn't be fun, and I don't want to even bother thinking if she'd be capable of those kinds of things.

A good way to approach Rps like this is as an RPG. You put points in things. Your character will be great at some things, but svck at others. Fiona is a naturally gifted mage, and has been practising all her life, but as a result of her studies she is more than a little mad, and has no friends who are not birds. Plus, when it comes to throwing magic, the most useful thing she might be able to think of is turning you into a dog.

I think pretty much anything is okay to RP, as long as it is interesting. Should Nellis have been able to dent Valarmo's armour? Maybe not, but it was funny and led to some RP down the road.

I think Quentillius no-sold the dent, and then I reminded him that Nellis is a miner so probably pretty strong, and that plate armour does dent or something...really I just thought it was too funny not to happen

Btw, Yes Man, did your character say that or not? You need to use quotation marks (these: "") for speech otherwise it is not speech. I'm assuming he just thought those words for now.

Arghh, but he would work so well with this RP!

Besides, he would be much better suited for combat than my meek nord. Also, I'm trying to have him focus on the other characters I have been ignoring.

So instead of talking with Reach-women, Orismer Blacksmiths, nvde Khajiit's, and pyscopaths of Justicars, he would likely be talking with Nurmaon, Jal Wolves Bane, etc.
