Video game remakes.

Imagine Daggerfall or Redguard "ported" to a Windows 7 platform.
Okay, I'll admit that'd be pretty awesome. But Daggerfall in particular would require some reworking, because of how content is randomly generated. Unless it's just an improvement to graphics and not a real remake, which I think would be of questionable value.

Battlespire would be so much better than Redguard as a remake.

Dungeon Keeper with current game tech could be sweet, so that would be my choice.
But then again, they'd probably remove all that made DK fun and ruin it - ie, "Dungeon Keeper, the MMO!" - so I can live without it. Remakes and long-awaited nostalgia sequels always sound good in theory, but 90% of the time they svck.

But if they did it right, I'd be in heaven.

I wouldn't mind to see and updated Halo 1... Oh wait.
or Half Life, wait there's Black Mesa (which will hopefully be finished someday)

Well what about an updated Quake, same level design, same mechanics (ef preserve bunny hopping and rocket jumping and whatnot) just more modern controls and graphics.

Imagine quake with something like dynamic lights.
Your out of ammo, and at low health.
You raise your axe as the wall to your right is covered in the shadow of a hulking, chainsaw wielding figure.

I played through it a month ago and still found it beautiful. The characters are the only thing made of polygons in the whole 2d world anyways.

I remember most of the environments looked like they were drawn in 3D and converted to 2D backdrops. They should have stuck with their usual artstyle. IMO.

The story and interaction, the art and heart are all there and that game is amazing. Go back and play it. I doubt you'll find it as ugly as you say. It's sixy to me. I've probably never had more fun with a video game in my entire life. Don't get me wrong, I love all of the QFG, particularly 3, but 4 is amazing too. 5 is the best imo.

I preferred 4 and (the remade) 1, followed by 3. I remember being put off by how different everything looked and sounded. Characters and situations just didn't seem to have as much personality as the previous titles. I'll do a new run through 1, 3 and 4, and then I'll give 5 a go. Luckily I stumbled across an early 90s laptop so I've something to play it on.

Could never get a hang of 2. Text adventures just aren't for me.

I am against remakes. I hate the idea of remaking Fallout and Fallout 2. Just play them as is. Sure they are old, but they are better than most games you will get today. Just get over that they are "old" and play them. There is content in those games that Bethesda will not or can not do today. So much of the content would just be cut, which would make them very different games.

As Frodo 67 said it would just ruin the games.

I would love to see Might and Magic 6 & 7 remade with modern technology. Also Heroes of Might and Magic 3.

LOZ: OOT would be great too(Zelda). As a Remake with everything the same AND new graphics.

Lastly i would love to see Morrowind remade only with a big expansion including the rest of Morrowind as well. Gameplay equal to Skyrim though. Keep the Voice acting from the original and add some more voices I guess. I really do not mind the text boxes tbh.

Dark Forces.

http://www.moddb.com/mods/dark-forces-a-mod-for-jedi-academy

Like listed on this site. I can't fInd the original site; not that it matters, the remake has been dead for several years.
I was thinking about this game recently, and got so nostalgic I decided to go back and play some of it it and all of Jedi Knight. It's not really fun though, because I know where every single bad guy is on every level by now. Dark Forces might've been the first PC game I ever played.

I want to see Final Fantasy VII in HD but I've heard that's no longer an option, so I hope it at least sees an iOS release. I did hear they're going to do Final Fantasy X HD so I guess that's better than nothing.

Crash Bash with multiplayer, better graphics, smoother gameplay and a lot, a lot of added levels, game-modes etc, would be awesome.

But not simply a remake that upgrades graphics.

^this....It's been awhile since there has been any news. 8 years since the project began. I'm beginning to think there never may be a release, likewise with HL3 or whatever it might be called.

System shock 1
System shock 2
Deus ex 1
Deus ex 2 (with huge amount of changes)
Final fantasy 6
Castlevania SOTN
Duke nukem 3D
Martian Gothic
Streets of rage 1 & 3 (2 svcks)
blade 1
Tomb raider 2

I would remake these games and do it right!
But can you guess which one would be most expensive to remake?

How did I guess those two would be at the top when I saw your name
Duke Nukem 3D would be an interesting game to remake, but I doubt I'd shelf the original for it since they'll probably dilute some of the content from the original.
Tomb Raider would be interest as well, I had the whole collection and I'm sure that was the one my cousin stole from us and sold to his friend so I'd definietly buy this.
(Which one had the underground jungle with tigers (and dinosaurs, I think)?)

Well 1, 2 & 3 all had an underground jungle (kinda) all had dinosaurs too. but yeah id remake TR2 with manual aim, that would be awesome. but keep auto aim optional for the girls too.

I thought that bat-tard was at me, I was confused because I was being nice :lmao:
Auto aim was part of the game, it created momentum and allowed you do keep running and do the aerobatics as well, if it was manual aiming like, I dunno, Res5 then it'd be too slow compared to the originals so I think auto aim should be left in.

Because girls can't aim. Got it.

I am looking forward to the new TR. I can't remember whether it's coming out on PC or not...

Nope it would be possible to play manual aim whilst doing acrobatics. duke nukem time to kill and final fantasy 7 dirge of cerberus had it.
Im not certain but I think uncharted has it too.

I'd need to see a video of it then because from Duke Nukem Land of The Babes I can't remember being able to do much more than run a shoot at the same time and even that was auto aimed.

Nope you can turn off auto aim. you can shoot in mid-air too. just at points of a backflip you cannot. It is easily possible dont know why you think it is not.

It's possible, it's just difficult. Can't remember the last time I had to, or even had the opportunity to, use this mechanic, actually. I think we need to wait a few more years while the market gets the waist-high barriers and auto-regen health out of its system. :P

The only one I can think of is the original http://www.mobygames.com/game/system-shock. Being a 3D game from 1994, the graphics and controls are quite outdated, and it would be nice to see a modern take on it. There would probably be a bunch of changes I wouldn't care for, but I'm sure it would still be a very good game

I wouldn't mind Konami to release some kind of Suikoden 1-5 Collection for the PS3 either, but I don't really want them remade. Just ported so they can run at higher resolutions.
I wouldn't mind seeing increased visuals if Konami ever ported them (yeah, right). As long as the first two are kept 2D. Although, I honestly wouldn't complain if the other three were made 2D as well...

I want to see Final Fantasy VII in HD but I've heard that's no longer an option, so I hope it at least sees an iOS release. I did hear they're going to do Final Fantasy X HD so I guess that's better than nothing.
Why would it no longer be an option? They still own the rights, don't they?

Speaking of Final Fantasy, I'd love to see SE finish what they started remake FFV/VI in 3D. Wouldn't oppose to remakes/HD-ports of VII-IX either.
